Xylomancy was a subject that was taught at least once in the North Tower at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.[1] It involved the "often overlooked" method of divination which relied upon twigs.[2]
History
In 1926, the New York Ghost announced that Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was to start offering extracurricular Xylomancy classes.[3]
While attending Ilvermorny, Ruby Honeysuckle took Xylomancy as an elective, although she wasn't sure why.[4]
Behind the scenes
- This class is seen on Harry Potter's class timetable in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. However, this cannot be considered canon, as it is not listed among his subjects in the book (nor being one of the seven core classes first years take), and he would not take Divination until his third year.
Appearances

- Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (film) (Mentioned in a newspaper)
