West Ham United Football Club is a sports team based in London.[1] Dean Thomas, a half-blood wizard raised in an all-Muggle home, was a fan of this club. He hung a poster of them over his bed in the Gryffindor boys' dormitory at the beginning of his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Ron Weasley, a pure-blood wizard, did not understand the appeal of football, and was once caught by Harry Potter poking Dean's poster, attempting to make the players move as pictures did in magical posters.
Behind the scenes
- This club was replaced by Liverpool Football Club in Danish version. This seems weird as the Danish version of the fifth game says West Ham, just like the English versions.
- The West Ham poster can be seen in the PS2 versions of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. It is comprised of an enlarged photo depicting the team during the 1968-69 season, featuring (back row, left to right:) Alan Stephenson, Martin Peters, Bobby Ferguson, John Charles, Bobby Moore, Billy Bonds, and (front row, left to right:) Harry Redknapp, Ronnie Boyce, Trevor Brooking, Geoff Hurst, John Sissons.[2]
