The Weetimorousbeastie is a fabled creature that allegedly lives on the banks of River Clyde, in Scotland. In Marauding with Monsters, Gilderoy Lockhart wrote about his adventures along the banks of the River Clyde in search of the Weetimorousbeastie, ending up founding (and defeating) an Imp colony instead. The veracity of these events is doubtful, given Lockhart's theft of other people's achievements.

Behind the scenes

"Weetimorousbeastie" is a reference to the Scots poem To a Mouse, on Turning Her Up in Her Nest with the Plough written by Robert Burns in 1785, and was included in the Kilmarnock volume. Indeed, it is a digest of the first verse of the poem: "Wee, sleekit, cow'rin, tim'rous beastie," which in Standard English means: "Small, crafty, cowering, timorous little beast,".
