The Weasleys' cat was a pet of the Weasley family. Ginny put her jumper on it in 1992. This was due to her blooming crush on Harry Potter.
Behind the scenes
It is unknown if Molly means a cat-shaped hook hanging over the fireplace, or a real cat. It most likely though, that she means a hook rather than a pet cat because it not mentioned again.
