Wales is a country placed on the island of Great Britain, which borders with England. Wales has its own National Quidditch team, which in 1994 lost to Uganda during the 422nd Quidditch World Cup. Other Welsh Quidditch teams include the Caerphilly Catapults and the Holyhead Harpies. The Common Welsh Green is a Dragon breed native to Wales.

Helga Hufflepuff, one of the four founders of Hogwarts, possibly came from Wales and also former Minister of Magic, Rufus Scrimgeour.

Sometime in or prior to 1994, a mystery regarding the Dark Arts took place in Wales.
