*Considering the fact that Vlad Drakul's physical appearence on the Chocolate Frog Card is more or less identical to that  depicted of his son, it is possible that Vlad II and his son Vlad III the Impaler were the same man in the Harry Potter Universe. Both their physsical similarities and the fact that Vlad II is a vampire while Bram Stocker's ''Count Dracula ''is based on his son Vlad the Imapler seems to support this theory wether it was known by the people of Wallachia or not, although it is not confirmed.

** However technically the "Dracul" part of his name would be written in English as "Dracule" and would translate into English as "Dragon"

Count Vlad Drakul (1390 - unknown) was a notorious vampire who inspired the author Bram Stoker to create his famous character Count Dracula. Drakul had a son, Vlad the Impaler, who presumably shared his father's notorious reputation.

Behind the scenes

  • Vlad II Dracul, (Vlad the Dragon), was an actual historical figure. He was a "voievod" (duke) of Wallachia (a region that corresponds with modern-day Southern Romania), and reigned from 1436 to 1442, and again from 1443 to 1447. However, his portrayal in the game is clearly based around Vlad Dracul's son, Vlad the Impaler.
  • Gary Oldman, who plays Sirius Black in the Harry Potter films, played Vlad the Impaler in a 1992 film.
