The Viaduct is a part of Hogwarts Castle. It is constructed of stone, and extends all the way down to the lake. A courtyard outside the Entrance Hall contains an archway that leads to the Paved Courtyard and across to the viaduct. At the other end, there are double doors which lead into the Viaduct Entrance. [1] There were two talking gargoyles at one end of the Viaduct, but unfortunately one was smashed during the 1994 Triwizard Tournament. This is also where the early members of Dumbledore's Army got the idea for the D.A. [1]

[edit] Damage to the Viaduct

The Viaduct suffered serious damages during the Triwizard Tournament. On the First Task, Harry Potter flew by the Viaduct, trying to avoid the Hungarian Horntail. The Dragon crashed into it, causing serious damage to the walkway and to one of the talking gargoyles, which fell to the chasm below. [2] The Viaduct was repaired shortly after, but the broken gargoyle remained missing.[1]
