A Vampyr Mosp is a fanged wasp-moth hybrid. They are giant insects.
There are two known kinds of Vampyr Mosps, the Purple Vampyr Mosp and the Red Vampyre Mosp. The Purple variants are usually less aggressive than Red variants.
They may be native to Scotland, in wet places; Hogwarts has a reasonable amount of them in the sewers and pipes, and in the Herbology Greenhouses.
They are also very atracted to the smell of certain flowers.
