Please see the discussion regarding these Horcruxes on the forums. The titles of the articles were changed purposefully. Mafalda Hopkirk 17:04, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Horcrux naming

Hello. I have noticed your posts over at Mafalda Hopkirk's talk page and felt I had to step in. As I said there, please keep this discussion confined to the forum page, rather than her talk page. Since it is a potentially loaded issue, I feel that it has the potential to degenerate into an argument that could get personal and have nothing to do with the matter at hand.

Now, having read your comments, I understand your position, and am glad you are using the forum page. My response to the matter has been posted there. However, just to clear something up. Although Mafalda proposed and implemented the idea of moving the pages, we administrators were involved. Both myself and DarkJedi613 participated in the discussion. I am an admin, and he is a bureaucrat. We take page moves very seriously, even more so when they regard articles of importance. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 22:20, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

That's the point, only the administrators and herself, none of the other users had any say in the matter. It almost sounds like the administrators are biased toward Mafalda Hopkirk. I'm not saying any of you are, but it makes it look that way when you are only collaborating with her alone and give none of the other normal users any say in the matter. I have posted my own response on the page as well. However if you really take the wiki seriously as an encyclopedia, I would think you would want to keep it looking like an encyclopedia and not just keep it the way one poster wants it just because of who she is or because "it's not listed in the book." Proper grammar comes first in encyclopedias, not print-for-print interpretations of text. Proper capitalization has not been used in several cases on this wiki, and I feel it makes the wiki look a bit ridiculous as they are titled right now. If you want readers to consider this a serious source of Harry Potter knowledge, you ought to want to keep it as professional-looking as possible. TomMarvoloRiddle1926 03:26, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm not going to get into the specifics of the grammar/ capitalisation issue here since that is what the forum is for and it makes no sense to run two conversations. I hope you understand. There is a lot in this wiki that needs fixing, we know that, and we're working on them as hard as we can. We're a small community, so things don't happen overnight. We're always looking for dedicated editors, and I would suggest looking at our policy page (if you haven't already) and getting a handle on how we do things around here. Usually, though, page moves do garner a lot of attention from myself, especially from new users such as yourself, just in case it is vandalism (a problem we have had in the past), so it could just have easily been me who reverted the change if I had spotted it because of the previous discussion on it. I freely admit that grammar is not necessarily my strong point. If you have any other specific issues you want to raise, you can come to my (or another admin's) talk page, or use the forum. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 11:16, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Content issues aside, your general tone of accusation and incivility is inappropriate. Accusations of admin favory are baseless and unnecessary. Please attempt to solve your dispute in a calm and civil manner at the forum or at the talk page of the article or articles involved. Continuing to degrade the quality of discussion and bringing about a negative atmosphere to this wiki will lead to a block. John Reaves (talk) 20:33, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

I have no "tone of accusation or incivility" to speak of, my good sir. I have been nothing but civil and polite, but also blunt and to the point as well. If you misinterpret a person's words because you can't see them, then that's your fault I'm afraid. You shouldn't be so hasty to accuse people of that if you have never corresponded with them or met them in any way. And I have done nothing to warrant any "block" of any kind, which would honestly smack of bias (no rudeness intended). It states on wikipedia, and I quote: "Brief blocks solely for the purpose of "cooling down" an angry user should not be used, as they inevitably serve to inflame the situation." I have done none of the things listed that validates a block of any kind (nor am I an "angry user"), therefore there really are no grounds for one because I am a reasonable person and do not believe in allowing immaturity to run away with me. As I stated above, I did not accuse the administrators of anything whatsoever, I merely stated that the way they collaborated soley with her on this topic and did not offer the other normal users a say in the matter can make it appear that way to a passerby however. So as I said, don't be so quick to judge people unless you know their specific intentions, because I have done nothing with intended rudeness or anything wrong, and hence these accusations of yours really are unwarranted because if you'd care to read more of the correspondence between Miss Hopkirk and myself, you will see that I have been the more civil one willing to reason, whereas she has stubbornly remained hostile toward me out of paranoia, especially on CavOne's talk page, where I discovered she falsely accused me of being "out to get her."TomMarvoloRiddle1926 21:35, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Star Wars

My talk page is fine ... clogging the forums with non-HP stuff might annoy people. Yes, I am a Star Wars fan as well. Been one since the early nineties. I'm an inclusionist, so I like to regard everything as Canon unless LFL states otherwise. It's all Star Wars to me. I have a particular fondness for the old WEG stuff. Have you been to Wookieepedia? - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 23:08, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

I also have loved Star Wars since the early nineties. I waited for the one movie to tell what fully happened before Episode IV for all that time, the one that would eventually become Revenge of the Sith. It's been a passion of mine all my life basically. I am also an inclusionist, I like reading the novels. Some of my favorites have been Shadows of the Empire and Labyrinth of Evil thus far. What about you? No I had no idea there was a wiki specifically for Star Wars. That's a very neat thing, I just looked at it now that you point it out to me. Do you go onto that one too, or are you also an admin there on that one as well? TomMarvoloRiddle1926 23:12, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

An admin on the Wook? Oh no. They're so big, they have 31 admins! Over 50,000 articles. I'm just a peripheral editor over there. In truth, I haven't been editing much there since I devoted a lot of time to getting this wiki in shape. I plan to go back soon and start making some headway on a few projects. As I said, my love is the old WEG RPG stuff. Novel wise, I have to go with the X-wing and Black Fleet Crisis series. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 23:18, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I can see they appear to be substanially bigger than even this wiki, and here I thought this one was big! hahaha. I just happened to stumble onto this wiki by accident actually; one day while I was researching something from Harry Potter (what it was escapes my mind now) I saw a reference to this site and I was amazed to find a form of wikipedia all devoted to Harry Potter. I never dreamed there might be others for other topics. My three main areas of expertise include: Star Wars, Harry Potter, and last but certainly not least, The Legend of Zelda. By the WEG RPG stuff, what was that? I probably would know the topic again if my mind was refreshed, it's been a while since I've researched certain areas of Star Wars lore. And that's very true, the X-wing and Black Fleet Crisis proved excellent. Recently I have been reading some novels from the Prequel Era since I had already read several of the Imperial Era novels aleady in my youth. I remember as a kid I loved Shadows of the Empire as a video game so much I wanted to read the book. In fact, I think it was the first Star Wars book I ever read and the one that got me hooked on all the rest. The one area of Star Wars I like best is that of the Sith; Palpatine/Darth Sidious was always my favorite character because he was a genius (an evil genius, but a genius nonetheless). He was the perfect villain, and even as a kid I always wondered how someone like the Emperor could have ever taken someone like Anakin Skywalker and molded him into Darth Vader; I finally got my answer in Episode III. So what kinds of projects are you hoping to work on with the wookie then? TomMarvoloRiddle1926 02:27, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

You think we're big? There's sites out there with more articles than several wikis combined. There's a lot of wikis out there. Surf around the main Wikia site and you can see just how many. As for WEG RPG - West End Games Roleplaying Game. They went bankrupt in the late nineties and lost the license, and Wizards of the Coast acquired it. I still think that WEG were superior in terms of stories and background information. I'm looking to add information from the various WEG sourcebooks and journals. The Wookiee may have over 50,000 articles, but they're still missing a lot. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 10:54, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
