Hi Starstuff! Have are you? I know that you has got beautiful images of the Black family tree. I think that picture of of Arcturus III is small and you know, I think that we really must have a better picture of him. So please, if you got a new image of Arcturus, please upload that one on this wiki. Thanks!--Lord 19:14, September 15, 2009 (UTC)

Welcome back

I hope you don't mind about pushing the start of the House Points Game back a few more days, but it seemed necessary.

You-Know-Who said he'd be willing to be a Prefect, but he also acknowledges that both Oread and Matoro183 are more experienced then he is, and he'd like to give them a little more time to respond, although I still haven't heard from either of them yet. If he changes his mind, Rodolphus might be another option, as he's been pretty active recently too.

I know Profiteor and Margiechocoholic have been looking forward to discussing some ideas for the game. Maybe we could work out a time when all 4 of us are online to have a sort of round table discussion?

Seth Cooper put up a very nice message over the weekend about the moment of silence for Jayden Matthews in the wiki's site notice. It was taken out yesterday, but you can still see it in the History.

Anyway, hope you had fun on your trip. I added several more pics to the Selected Pictures nominations. Take a look if you have a moment. Talk to you soon.

Gemma Boyle & Lauren Shotton

I believe that their identification as those characters is based mainly on the fact that the pictures used in their articles identify them as such. For example, this pic is used as the infobox pic in the Millicent Bulstrode article, and it is definitely Gemma Boyle. As far as the "1,2,3" bit in her film credits, I'm not entirely sure that's related to her Harry Potter role, as the only one she definitely appears in is OotP. "1,2,3" may be a misstatement, or the title of something else she was in. However, I don't think she is specifically credited as Millicent. I'm not at home right now, so I can't check the film's credits at the moment, but I'll do so when I get back.

Patr0nus was the one who uploaded and named those pics, and he put a comment in the "Behind the Scenes" section of the Millicent Bulstrode article defending his reasoning (#7). You might ask him if he has anything else to support this.

De game, boss, de game!

The roundtable was just a thought, I suppose you're right about it not really being feasible.

The only thing I'd really thought of adding were more specific guidelines about awarding points, such as classifying edits as either "minor", "medium", or "major", similar to the guidelines for points for creating articles from the last game. "Minor" edits could consist of things like fixing a red link, adding a relevant category, reverting a single act of vandalism, etc., and it would take several to be considered point-worthy (for example, 1 point for 5 minor edits). "Medium" edits would be slighty variable. Cleaning up the wording in a few sentences or adding a relevant picture to an article would be worth 1 point, while adding an infobox would be worth 3 points for stubs and 5 points for decent-length articles. "Major" edits would be more discretionary, depending on the circumstances. For example, a complete rewrite of an article could be given the same or similar point value as creating one, depending on the length of the article in question, and points for creating a new category could depend on the number of articles relevant to it.

I noticed in the last game that Hellabore used a "Quidditch team" system for delegating tasks for major articles, although that would be kind of hard for Hufflepuff or Slytherin at the moment. Although speaking of which...

On the matter of your idea of house alliances, I was actually thinking of a Hufflepuff-Slytherin alliance for this game, as together our houses would a little more even with Ravenclaw and Gryffindor. We could collaborate with each other on projects that would benefit from multiple participants.

I also noticed that at no point in the last game did anyone remove points (at least that I could see). Should that possibility be kept in the game or removed?

Nick O'Demus 09:48, September 18, 2009 (UTC)

The guidelines look okay to me. I suppose we'll find out how well they work as the game progresses. I agree the alliance should be discussed with the active members of our houses to see how everybody feels about it, but should it be in the Wizengamot forum, or just on the HPG common room talk pages? I also still haven't heard from Oread or Matoro183, do you think we should go ahead and try to confirm with You-Know-Who? - Nick O'Demus 03:09, September 20, 2009 (UTC)
I just checked again with You-Know-Who, and he's agreed to take the Prefect job. - Nick O'Demus 06:58, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

House points

I've awarded you 10 points for creating the articles Edna Patridge, Irene Denholm, and Gordon Pummell. --Cubs Fan (Talk to me) 01:12, September 23, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks!! What do you mean by wikilink fixes? -- GrouchMan (Send an owl then scram!!) 22:22, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Featured Articles Nomination

Hey Starstuff,

I noticed that the Featured Articles Nomination page has nominatoins that are months old. Could you clean it up? Thanks. Quidditch Lover C11-quidditch (My talk)(contribs) 21:13, September 25, 2009 (UTC)

Nintendo DS

I have noticed you have created and expanded many video game character pages, Do you have images of them? -- Rodolphus 16:59, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

Are there special cameras to take screenshots? Have you already tried to take screenshots. (I, for my part, would try it myself, but I own neither the game nor an own camera.)--Rodolphus 16:02, September 28, 2009 (UTC)

Protect page

Could you make Molly Weasley semiprotected? A couple of IP addresses keep changing the wording trying to make it sound like her defeating Bellatrix was some sort of fluke. Seth Cooper and Cubs Fan2007 have reverted their edits a few times too. - Nick O'Demus 01:54, September 29, 2009 (UTC)

Done. Starstuff (Owl me!) 04:12, September 29, 2009 (UTC)

Why not?

Okay :) Hi, My name is Lucrezia and I am an Italian girl. I found this webpage when I was searching something about Andromeda Tonks. I would ask for an Italian version of this wikia. Well... I'm asking if I can translate it in my language :D So, let me know!

Featured Article Review Panel

Cavalier One's starting up the Featured Article Review Panel, and I'd like to nominate you as a candidate. Will you accept? - Nick O'Demus 17:48, September 30, 2009 (UTC)

Harry Potter Wiki:House points

I awarded you 35 points for creating the articles, Niles Hanley, Lynette Sawley, Sheila Brooks, James Tuckett, Curtis Evercreech, Ethan Bexley and Black pudding. --ÈnŔîčö DCRavenclawcrest(Send me an Owl!) 06:20, October 1, 2009 (UTC)

You're already aware of the unregistered user who created several pages with random letter arrangements for titles, as I saw you deleted his pages. I just thought I'd alert you that he put on the Albus Potter page that Albus was Sorted into Slytherin House, which shows that he is not simply poor at Wiki editing, but, at the worst, an intentional vandal, or, hopefully, just a user who made a mistake and integrated fanon into an article. I just think that these actions need an explanation or a warning toward him. I have, however, already fixed the Albus Potter page. --Parodist 02:19, October 2, 2009 (UTC)

Re: Re: Vandal

I apologize for that. No there is no evidence to suggest the two are the same, I simply got the numbers confused and jumped to conclusions. Perhaps we could invite them to join, that way we won't have to remember all these decimals and digits? --Parodist 02:45, October 2, 2009 (UTC)

Book & Film articles

Hey Starstuff,

I've started a forum on bringing the Book & Film articles to a higher level at the Wizengamot. Could you check it out, please? Thanks. QuidditchLoverSnitch 2(My talk)(contribs) 03:13, October 5, 2009 (UTC)

Thank you. By the way, would you be willing to take a look at this article? I know you said you'd been playing the HBP DS game, and I can't tell if this should be cleaned up or merged. - Nick O'Demus 10:48, October 10, 2009 (UTC)

I nominated you for Article Review Panel :D ... Good Luck --Profiteor 20:03, October 13, 2009 (UTC)

Starstuff; due to the apparent lack of interest in nominations and voting for the Department of Mysteries FA review panel, I have decided to convene it consisting of the members placed up for nomination. Congratulations; you are now an Unspeakable! You may place the {{User unspeakable}} on your user page to denote this fact.

While I understand that a 3-person panel will mean a little work at first for us, I am hopeful that between the three of us, we will be able to recruit at least two more individuals from the community to flesh out our numbers.

I have set up a page here to act as a headquarters/ meeting place for the members of the panel. If you have any questions over your new role, please do not hesitate to ask me. There is also a dedicated IRC channel that has been set up, and I was wondering if you frequented IRC at all? - Cavalier OneGryffindorcrest(Wizarding Wireless Network) 13:35, October 19, 2009 (UTC)

Well, IRC is a faster method of communication but I will be implementing a dedicated DoM forum for our use. The DoM channel is separate from the #wikia-harrypotter channel; if you contact Grunny who set up the channel and provide him with your IRC username he can arrange access to the channel since it is restricted to members of the DoM. - Cavalier OneGryffindorcrest(Wizarding Wireless Network) 14:18, October 25, 2009 (UTC)
Hey Starstuff :). To set up your IRC username, just log into IRC as "Starstuff" and then follow the instructions here. When you have done that let me know and I'll set up your access to the channel :-). Cheers, Grunny (Talk) 06:38, October 27, 2009 (UTC)

RE:Welcome back

Hi Starstuff. Sorry this is so late but...thank you, for everything. For the card, the notice on the front of the site (which I didn't even know about until Nick told me). I can't tell you how much I appreciate all you and the rest of the community have done for me. I'm not going to be around much in the next few weeks, as I've got some personal stuff to take care of, but I'll try to fit in as much work as I can. Thanks again. Jayden Matthews 10:31, October 25, 2009 (UTC)

If you ever come across my page and notice that my wand is the same one as yours I just want to let you know I did not copy you, I actually have the very same wand that I bought from Alivans XxScurryxX 23:29, October 26, 2009 (UTC)

Yeah the Holly one is also a very nice one

--XxScurryxX 15:52, October 27, 2009 (UTC)

Would it be alright if I updated the DYK template? I just noticed it hasn't been changed since June, and there are 5 nominations with at least +3. Also, are only admins allowed to promote or reject the nominations for Featured Content when they reach +3 or -3?- Nick O'Demus 16:25, October 30, 2009 (UTC)

Leaky Cauldron forums

I think that bringing back the Leaky Cauldron forums would be both an invitation for more off topic conversation that we as administrators would have to deal with, and an admission that certain editors have "won" in attempting to convert our existing forum into a general discussion board. While some "off topic" threads like the one you have stated many yield useful information, I am highly concerned by the conversational nature that some threads exhibit, especially from certain users. I think we would have to evaluate each topic on a case by case basis, and perhaps start to transfer some discussions from the forums onto specific article talk pages if they are deemed to have useful content? - Cavalier OneGryffindorcrest(Wizarding Wireless Network) 14:25, November 2, 2009 (UTC)
