Hi! Sorry to bother with stupid questions. Do you know witch spell Dumbeldore used in the battle between him and Voldemort when i levitates the water to a dome? --Kraftword 11:52, September 2, 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for answer! You don´t think it is The Hover charm? Because that is what I thought. But I could be thinking wrong you know. Aqua Eructo creates a jet of water, but to control the movement of water you maybe need another spell. Witch spell does Dumbeldore use in the cave in the half-blood prince to control fire? not the same? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kraftword (talk • contribs).
Ok. I know he conjures fire but don´t you need to use another spell if you have conjured the fire? Fun to discuss with you by the way! :D —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kraftword (talk • contribs).
Hmm... So it´s not Incendio. I hate when they use Nonverbal spells! You never learn have to say them! --Kraftword 19:22, September 2, 2009 (UTC)
Please check the article on Harry Potter (character), section "Family Information". Isn't Harry a distant relative to Salazar Slytherin (which is a distant nephew of Ignotus Peverell, Harry's ancestor)?

Thanks for the most recent edit to the Barty page, though I'm a bit inexperienced with this sort of thing, in case anyone tries to challenge the view that Barty viewed Voldemort as a sort of father figure in his deranged state, you could always reference the part in the book where he says "I'll be closer than a son..." (I think it's in the Veritaserum chapter, but I really don't know. I'm sort of new to the HPUniverse...)

Main page headers
Hello! You have a very nice wiki here. But when I first came here, being the crazy videophile I am, I couldn't help but notice the nasty .JPG compression around the Main Page's headers.
That's an example. Look closely at the image. You can see nasty JPG compression artifacts!
So, because I'm nice, I remade the headers on the Main Page with transparency, in the PNG format, which doesn't compress like that! I've only uploaded one just yet though, and that's the Featured Article one. You can find it here. Here's what it would look like on the Main Page.
Look closely. It looks much clearer! Also, I used transparency when I made it. That means that, if in the future you decide you want a different background color for the headers, just change the colors on the Main Page, you don't even have to edit the files!
But seriously, the only problem is that the Main Page is super protected. So I can't change what's shown there.
What I need YOU to do, is confirm to me that you're OK with me remaking these files. Then, I'll upload them. Once I've done that, because I am not an admin, you'll have to edit the Main Page. Make these changes:
Get back to me as soon as you can, mm'kay? - Elecbullet 21:18, September 6, 2009 (UTC)
P.S. are there any other headers that are in the JPG format? I can work on them. I don't mind. Are there any other problematic pictures?
- Okay, did it.
- See ya! I don't really follow the HP series any more so I might not be able to do much here other than this :(
Oh well. - Elecbullet 21:49, September 6, 2009 (UTC)
Hi Dear Seth ! I would to know if it's possible to add some symbols in MediaWiki:Edittools (protected page) in order to help with links inter-languages as [[de:]] [[en:]] [[es:]] [[fi:]] [[fr:]] [[nl:]] [[pl:]] [[ru:]] and others. Jayden Matthews, moment of silence
Jayden Matthews' brother's funeral is this Friday (tomorrow), and some of us who've worked with him were wondering if it would be possible to put a special notice up on the Main Page that day, asking people to observe a moment of silence and sign the Condolence Card we've set up on his talk page. Please let me know if this would be feasible. Thanks. - Nick O'Demus 23:31, September 10, 2009 (UTC)
- Since most people are in different time zones, we were just thinking of leaving it up for the day, and letting everybody observe their own moment. - Nick O'Demus 23:50, September 10, 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you. - Nick O'Demus 00:33, September 11, 2009 (UTC)
- I think it'd be okay to remove the notice now. It's been up the whole weekend. - Nick O'Demus 21:52, September 14, 2009 (UTC)
But, my dear Seth, it's really strange to think that Phoebe wasn't married. On the second scroll are name and surname of her husband, and we know that. So, I think that Phoebe had a husband, and we don't have to delete that article. I really can't understand how do you know that "2" is written on the scroll. --Lord 15:35, September 11, 2009 (UTC)

HBP DS game characters
This may be a weird question, but have you, or any other Users that you know of, played the Nintendo DS version of Half-Blood Prince? The reason I ask is that Christian Serrano just created 10 articles on characters from the DS game. However, it seems that English isn't their first language, and they need some serious reworking. For example, I have no idea what this one should actually say. Normally, I'd just check one of the guides on GameFAQS, but there are none for the DS version. - Nick O'Demus 16:42, September 12, 2009 (UTC)

RE:Harry Potter Video Game Designers
I see. The reason I ask is because I think we should make a page for the video games like we have for the movies and books and I figured we'd need the companies who designed the video games if we made one. It's no big deal. I'll think of something. Thanks!! -- GrouchMan 21:05, September 13, 2009 (UTC)

Can I see your family tree? I know that my tree is maybe pathetic, because pictures are white and black. I made it on a hole wall in my house.--Lord 17:42, September 14, 2009 (UTC)
Can you see a picture of Regulus I? I think that a have a better picture of him. Can I upload it?
Look at this image. Family tree.We can see that Callidora and Charis (who are sisters) are decipted near to each other. Also, Phineas Nigellus is decipted close to Sirius I, crazy Ella and Isla, by the way, they are on the same branch. Phineas Nigellus's children are on the same branch: Phineas (in red hat), Belvina (with sad face), Cygnus II, Sirius II and Arcturus II. So, I think that Phoebe was either a sister or a first cousin of Eduardus and Alexia. I don't know why Cygnus' picture exist only on the DVD, not on real tree.--Lord 09:49, September 15, 2009 (UTC)
House Points Game start date
It looks like Starstuff still isn't back from her trip yet, so we're going to have to push back the start of the game just a few days (we also need just a bit more time to fine-tune some of the machanics). Tentatively, I'm going to set the new start date as the 20th, and I'll let our Prefects know if anything changes. Thanks for your patience. - Nick O'Demus 18:19, September 14, 2009 (UTC)

Hey Seth Cooper :). Just thought I'd let you know, rather than moving files and then having to delete the redirect admins can now suppress redirects so a redirect isn't created. When moving pages, below the reason box you should see "Leave a redirect behind" with a ticked box next to it. If you remove the tick from this box before moving the file/page, a redirect won't be created and you won't have to constantly delete the redirects :-). Grunny (Talk) 01:14, September 16, 2009 (UTC)

Reporting slight vandalism
Hi Seth, I don't usually play the snitch but I just wanted to inform you of some minor vandalism on a forum page called: Why didn't Bellatrix marry Voldemort. Someone made a funny and decided to edit one of my comments, saying something about an Edward Cullen, whom I apparently "love". Just check out the page and you'll know what I mean. They did the same thing to an unregistered user calling themselves 'Beautiful alter' on the same page. Oh and by the way, could you reply to me by using my talk page? That would be great.--Yin&Yang 13:15, October 10, 2009 (UTC)
Hi Seth, thanks for warning that very humourous editor against distorting other users' comments. I'm glad I came to the right person.--Yin&Yang 06:01, October 11, 2009 (UTC)
Hi Seth, me again. Do you think you could do Nick O'Demus and myself a favour and have a look at the Unicorn blood article page? I added some information on the mechanics behind the curse associated with drinking the blood and Nick O'Demus disagreed with it. We have both agreed however that we'll consent to whatever you think is right, so could you please take a look at it? To find the paragraph I'm talking about, just use the History page and look at my last edit. If you have any trouble with it, feel free to comment on the Discussion page (which I recommend you read also).--Yin&Yang 06:27, October 11, 2009 (UTC)
Hi Seth, listen I noticed your message on the talk page of the IP 184.108.40.206 and this user had did something similar on Dolores Umbridge's page that was pure nonsense I had to revert so I am making you aware of this. -Adv193 04:02, October 13, 2009 (UTC)

I've already posted this in Ravenclaw Tower, but since I've gotten no response I decided to take it to you. I've created a number of articles that never recieved any points; Hengist Rawkes, Unidentified Hogwarts Headmaster, Unidentified Department of Mysteries intern, Albus Dumbledore's ex-girlfriend, Horace Slughorn's first office, Horace Slughorn's second office, Severus Snape's office, Defence Against the Dark Arts professor's office, Venomous Tentacula leaves, Potage, So You Think You'd Like to Work In Muggle Relations?, Have You Got What It Takes to Train Security Trolls?, Make a Bang at the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes, Unidentified pamphlet on Wizard banking, Me, Myself, and I, and Ronald Weasley's bedroom; none of which have gotten me any points. I acknowledge that some of the articles were created before the House Points Game began, but according to the policy, they are still canidate to recieve points. --Parodist 11:30, October 16, 2009 (UTC)
- I simply thought that as the article is relatively small the headings are not necessary. Notdoppler 21:35, October 16, 2009 (UTC)
Hello, Seth. I'm new to the Harry Potter Wiki and I am having troubles with editing. What u are doing is totally unfair and ludicrous. The infobox is supposed to be for the latest affiliation and affiliation and Lucius was affiliated lately with the MoM where he worked as an adviser. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by X247 (talk • contribs).
- Yes but Lucius was actually fired from the MoM after blackmailing all the other governors that he would curse their families if they didn't agree to suspend Dumbledore in the second book. Read the last chapter or just re-read the article and you should see that part. -- GrouchMan (Send an owl then scram!!) 14:19, October 25, 2009 (UTC)
Your Last Edit of the Bellatrix Lestrange Page
Okay Seth, I think we may have a slight disagreement where Bellatrix's "appearance" at the Battle of the Astronomy Tower is concerned. We both agree that it was in the film version of 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' that first showed Bellatrix present at Hogwarts the night Dumbledore died, yes? Therefore, we must also agree that the book had absolutely no reference to Bellatrix being present at that event. That is a contradiction and as the policy of this wiki states, as I'm sure you know, wherever a book contradicts another canonical source, the book recieves priority as having the correct information. First of all, to base your argument for restoring that paragraph to Bellatrix's page on something that we don't know is pure speculation. Second of all, had Rowling decided to add Bellatrix into that battle, I am sure she would have made an appearance, possibly killing someone in the process. Thirdly, we know that all the Death Eaters (present during the Battle) escaped through the front gates of the school with Harry bearing witness. Bellatrix, according to the books was not among them and that is as good as Rowling herself saying that. The books are always right and this means that you should erase that paragraph describing the events of the sixth film as I had done. One more thing, that paragraph actually mentions Bellatrix being the one to cast the Dark Mark into the sky after Dumbledore's death - that is again contradicting the book which clearly explains that the Mark was present before Dumbledore's death, and even contributed to it (leading Dumbledore and Harry to the Astronomy Tower).--Yin&Yang 04:02, October 26, 2009 (UTC)
Look, saying that Bellatrix just used a different passage way is speculation at its highest peak. Bellatrix is a major character and Rowling would never dream of leaving her out of a scene that she was present in, in her mind. Remember that this is all the invention of one woman, not a re-telling of a true event. Whatever Rowling implies or blatantly states is supposed to be held true. Also, if it was Gibbon who wrote that part about Bellatrix firing that mark in the sky, and you know that that isn't the case in the books, why didn't you just erase it? I'm sorry but your argument just doesn't hold up so I'm removing that paragraph myself. If you still disagree, I guess we'll have to discuss it with another admin.--Yin&Yang 22:04, October 26, 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I did misinterpret what you said about Gibbon but that is besides the point. The Skirmish at the Burrow was an event totally invented by the filmakers, which therefore has a right to be included in a webpage on this wiki. The Battle of the Astronomy Tower, however, was not created by the filmakers, but was adapted from the book i.e. it was already there. This scene, therefore, cannot be compromised by the film according to the policy because that event took place (without Bellatrix Lestrange). You might as well say that there wasn't even a 'Battle' at Hogwarts anyway as the film shows no signs of a struggle or so much of a hint of an intervention from the Order of the Phoenix. The chapter of the book in question doesn't have to call the fight 'the Battle of the Astronomy Tower' for the reader to know that there is a battle occuring. Now do you understand where I'm coming from?--Yin&Yang 22:23, October 26, 2009 (UTC)
It doesn't have to state with literal words that Bellatrix wasn't at the Battle. That is what is implied (and very strongly so). She also didn't burn down Hagrid's Hut because Thorfinn Rowle did that. Now, I can't remember if the Bellatrix page says that the latter did that to Hagrid's house but if it does, then that is incorrect as well. If the character is 'observed' in the books to do something (or not do something) then that counts as "stating". Bellatrix wasn't at the Battle. That is it. Therefore, she couldn't have paraded like a zoo animal in the Great Hall as in the film. That is the problem with this policy, the bounderies are too blurred so I'm not necessarily arguing against you Seth but this is a very big problem in terms of writing an encyclopedia of Harry Potter. The Skirmish at the Burrow isn't entirely plausible because then we have a conflict with Scrimgeour being present at the Burrow during book. We can't necessarily say that the then-Minister of Magic was at the scene of Bellatrix's and Greyback's attack, can we?--Yin&Yang 22:47, October 26, 2009 (UTC)
I'm sorry Seth, but that fails to convince me. If we both agree that Gibbon set the Dark Mark into the sky and Rowle burned down Hagrid's Hut then why is it that when the book specifically leaves Bellatrix out of the picture, that doesn't indicate a direct statement from Rowling that Bellatrix is definitely not present? Her absence in the books from the scene in question is as plain a statement as any. The book therefore contradicts the film and hence, the book wins again.
Please don't think of Bellatrix's lack of presence in the book meaning that she was there because of the film's interpretation. Think of it more as 'the book says "no"' versus 'the film says "yes"' rather than 'the book doesn't say "no" so that makes the film right'; because the book does in fact say "no" to Bellatrix's presence by not putting her there in the first place. I know that sounds too simple but that is really what it is: That simple. Before you reply, I beg you to please re-read all my comments on this topic and think. I truly believe that this is a problem for this wiki, but it can be repaired. I know I'm still rather new here and I don't mean to offend anyone else's work but I think it possible that this wiki policy is too obscure. Don't worry, I took your suggestion about contacting others through the Wizengamot into consideration, Seth, but I want to know whether or not I have anyone's support before I make a move to change a few rules (apparently, I have the attention of at least one nameless person on my talk page).--Yin&Yang 08:36, October 27, 2009 (UTC)

Seth, I'm going to be reducing the block on X247 to a week as I originally stated this on the Lucius Malfoy talk page, and instead I blocked him for a month. I did state one length and blocked for a longer time, so as per my original statement, I will be reducing his block. As you blocked Fred weasley for the same time for the same offense, I thought I'd give you a heads up in case you wanted to reduce the block. You don't have to since I was the one setting the block period and not yourself, and our blocking policy states "any administrator may block any user that they determine is a detriment to the project.
