Danniesen
Edit
Okay, this is really starting to chap my hide. Can we please just block all of the IPs that we know that he's been using, for good? We know for sure that would be anything starting with 94.191 and really, at this point I'm almost starting to feel that I don't care if we do have ban the whole of Denmark or whichever country it was... ProfessorTofty (talk) 16:18, September 10, 2012 (UTC)
- That's understandable, though there are some that have been used recently that we know to be him that haven't been blocked. (And yeah, I certainly wasn't serious about actually banning all of Denmark.) Could we at least get those? ProfessorTofty (talk) 23:25, September 10, 2012 (UTC)
- Say, I had another thought - if Grunny is busy, then how about we ask Wikia staff to advise us on this? After all, they get paid for handling this stuff... ProfessorTofty (talk) 23:56, September 10, 2012 (UTC)
- You won't even let my story of events pass through. Those people who does not want to see it from others' perspective are not TRUE admins. --94.191.185.79 06:20, September 11, 2012 (UTC)
- Okay, I know you are all mad at me for being a total idiotic jerk, like a Wiki-Voldemort, but is there anything I can do to put myself back in line, anything at all? I know I don't derseve it, but even in real life people finds a way to get back in friendships. So if there's something I can do, I would be forever grateful, and in this Wiki's service. I just want to fix-up on all my wrong-doings and mistakes --94.191.187.233 14:03, September 11, 2012 (UTC)
- I'm half inclined to just not say anything, but here it is. If you're really serious, then 1.) Respect your block. Stop editing when you have been permanently blocked from the wiki and come back and restate your case in about, say, six months or so. From what I understand, that's the standard on Wikipedia. 2.) If you insist on continuing to edit (which really isn't recommended), then stop doing the things that have caused aggravation in the past. That includes posting on talk pages simply to complain about past treatment, posting new articles without putting them in categories, creating articles on subjects of dubious notability, and continuing to make edits of a particular type when you can see that the edits that you are making are being undone nearly as fast as you're making them (for example, repeatedly adding speculative information to the "Blishen" articles even after I had undone your edits to the other ones.) 3.) Understand that no matter what you do, the possibility remains that you might not be allowed back. Move on. Find another wiki on a subject that interests you to edit, or even another wiki devoted to the Harry Potter subject, or find another way (and there are numerous) to occupy your time on the Internet. ProfessorTofty (talk) 14:46, September 11, 2012 (UTC)

- Danniesen, you have no "story of events" to present us. We know all about what happened well enough. We warned you and helped you, but all of our well-intentions fell of deaf ears — as much as we would like to have you around and help us in the project, you left us no other choice but to permaban you.
- You say you know you don't deserve a second chance (or is it a third chance? fourth?), so why do you keep asking for one? You are forgetting that we are not "friends" here — we might be friendly, but it's just because we respect one another and we are pursuing a common goal.
- The moment you started editing this wiki, you were accepting our policies and our organisation. You were, since then, bound by our rules and were subjecting to them just like everyone here. You broke them, repeatedly: you engaged in edit wars frequently, you broke consensus, you were counter-productive many times, you created pointless pages and, after many, many warnings, you just proceeded as usual. The community grew tired of your actions, and had to see your block through, under the terms of the very policies you complied to once you started editing this Wiki.
- There is a paragraph in the blocking policy that states that "in most instances a block can be lifted if the editor agrees to stop the damaging behaviour". This seems to be the case, however, we simply do not wish to have you back because you show no afterthinking whatsoever: you have obviously tried to circumvent your block (and, by doing so, you are both undermining the authority of our community and administrator board and being crossly unfair to all those that were blocked legitimately and are impeded from editing), you persist making detrimental/disruptive edits to our articles (thus showing us that you haven't changed your ways at all and do not wish to do so once you are brought back), you are being arrogant about your block (do you seriously think that coming here and asking for a "Thank you" is a wise move? And while I'm at it, here, you claim that you created the "1996 Gryffindor Quidditch trials spectators" articles when you were 12 but you are 16 now — which means you must've aged 4 years since October, 2011. Do you really think that lying to our faces is good for your case?).
- We could have you back but, in short, and perhaps for the time being, you leave us no reason to be so inclined. Thank you. -- Seth Cooper owl post! 16:30, September 11, 2012 (UTC)
- I wasn't trying to be arrogant at any time. I didn't mean to offend anyone when I created those "spectator" articles, I just wanted to fill more information on the Wiki that I thought you forgot, I even asked to the reason to why they were deleted. And I saw that I typed '12' just after I saved, I wanted to correct it, but I remembered that you once said I wasn't allowed to remove talk page edits, I seriously didn't mean to lie to you. I deeply regret what I've done, I know you tried to help me and I ignored you, and I am so sorry for that. If I stay away for some time and only reports you if something goes wrong, and it means that you re-consider it, I will totally change my behaviour. I know I promised it before and didn't keep my promise, but this time I mean it. If I come back, I'll ask you before I edit anything. I keep my word this time. This is not any kind of trick. I have been told to read the policies, and I have done it (sadly a little too late) and I swear I will be a better user. I gave you many reasons not to trust me, but I really am sorry. --94.191.185.198 19:37, September 11, 2012 (UTC)
Junk page
Edit
Hey Seth. Since you created (in a sense, anyway) the Unidentified Hogwarts employees page, I was wondering if you could figure out where this is supposed to redirect to, or possibly just delete it if needed? -- 1337star (Drop me a line!) 02:02, September 11, 2012 (UTC)
Signatures
Edit
Hello. Sorry to bother you, but I wanted to make a custom signature, as you have done, without the constant hassle of copying the codes for other user's signatures and changing them for my own. However, upon reading the guidelines on how to do so, I became quite confused, and wondered whether you could please simplify it for me? Thank you, Seth. Suspicion
Edit
Hi, Seth! I have a bad feeling about these two accounts: here from September 16, 2012 and here from August 20, 2012. This user has got two warnings from this user, which he both removed. I reverted this and gave him another warning about the removal. And now there is a new account with slightly name change; and look in the header under "I am" the same text. Could that be a sockpuppet? As I said: I have a bad feeling but perhaps I am too suspicious but I thought I should report it. Harry granger Talk contribs 17:40, September 16, 2012 (UTC)
- After reading the text on this page and on this page I am sure. Harry granger Talk contribs 20:31, September 16, 2012 (UTC)
Hair Colours
Edit
I saw your post on the deletion category talk page regarding that page on blonde hair, whatever it's called. It made me wonder... would it be appropriate to have a page for hair colours (I could make it myself if permitted, and it would be in-universe, with notes and references, appearances, so on). I just wondered what your opinion on the matter would be. Hunnie Bunn (talk) 21:08, September 17, 2012 (UTC)
I see, and thanks. Not to push the matter too far, but I just figured it'd be somewhat practical (though admittedly not as much so as to do categories) to have a page with, say, "Ginger", "Blond(e)", "Black", and "Brown" as sub-headings, then with a description of each hair colour and a list of individuals (or, when available, families) with each hair colour. However, you're right that categories would be a better idea. --Hunnie Bunn (talk) 21:19, September 17, 2012 (UTC)
hi. would it be more practicle to rename my article; blond(e) pureblood families. Please get back to me. thank you
Edit
Hi, I just posted this blog post about the related videos module. I wanted to make sure you saw it. Let me know there if you have any questions. Happy editing! --Sarah (help forum | blog) 23:59, September 19, 2012 (UTC)
The Toad
Edit
If The Toad is only a ghost haunting a classroom why is he called professor on the article. --94.191.186.223 14:25, September 21, 2012 (UTC)
Sir Nick
Edit
I was just wondering... why was the picture of Nearly Headless Nick I added removed? It's from Pottermore, which is the most recent source, it's slightly more canon than the films (last I checked Pottermore was first-tier canon and films were second-tier), so did I do something wrong with it? Hunnie Bunn (talk) 00:23, September 23, 2012 (UTC)
- I see - thank you for letting me know, I was beginning to worry that I'd been doing something wrong. I'll remember for next time; however, would it be okay if I added the picture somewhere in the article (preferably in the 1992-1993 or 1993-1994 school year parts)? --Hunnie Bunn (talk) 00:35, September 23, 2012 (UTC)
My Page
Hi. I created a page a few minutes ago and I think I left a typo in the title. I have been trying to change the title of the page from ligilimens to legilimens but with no success. I would appreciate any help on the matter. Thank you

Figg and Templates
Edit
Hello, Seth. First, I figured I'd ask whether there was any way you could fix the first link on Mrs. Figg's page, the one about her job, because it said it wasn't available. Secondly, as I recently started to work on the Potterpedia wiki, I wondered whether you could please teach me how to make templates and infoboxes (and how to delete the ones that aren't needed). Thank you, very much. Hunniebunn (talk) 21:43, September 29, 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks, Seth :) --Hunniebunn (talk) 21:54, September 29, 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks, and if you feel like helping feel free ;) (I doubt you will, since it's so impossibly new, but extending invitation to everyone never hurt). --Hunniebunn (talk) 22:19, September 29, 2012 (UTC)
Infobox Size
Edit
Thanks for your help with getting the Potterpedia Wiki started, and for providing the link to that article on infoboxes. I got a headache reading it, though - too much technology - and decided instead to simply copy the individual infobox from here; now, though, it is twice as large as the ones in these articles (for example, you could compare Ronald Weasley with Ronald Weasley and could easily see the difference in infobox size). If you could please help, I would be much grateful, not having seen anything in the article on infoboxes that could help me (that I could understand, anywho). Thanks Hunniebunn (talk) 17:50, September 30, 2012 (UTC)
Forum: Layout Changes Coming
Edit
Seth, if you have a moment, could you take a look at this? This is coming tomorrow and I think it would be a good idea if we got ahead of the curve and switched over to it before they bump us over to automatically. ProfessorTofty (talk) 23:15, October 2, 2012 (UTC)

Percy Weasley's house

Sorry, Seth, but I nominated your article for deletion. Do we actually have proof of a house and that he didn't simply rent an apartment or something? ProfessorTofty (talk) 00:26, October 5, 2012 (UTC)
Snape's spell

Can I create a new page on the spell that Severus Snape used on the gate to Malfoy Manor?? --94.191.184.215 05:46, October 5, 2012 (UTC)

Disable Visual Editor
Edit
Could we please move forward with disabling the visual editor? I have twice today had to undo edits because of the name in the infobox being removed due to the visual editor. It causes nothing but problems and it's generally agreed it's time to give it the heave-ho. ProfessorTofty (talk) 02:18, October 7, 2012 (UTC)
Hello. Sorry to bother you, but I wondered whether you could please help with something on Pottermore... you see, I'm trying to collect the Fluxweed for the Polyjuice Potion, it's the only ingredient I'm missing, but no matter what I do I can see it, but not collect it. Have you experienced this problem, and if so do you know how to fix it? Thanks very much. --Hunniebunn (talk) 15:01, October 7, 2012 (UTC)
RE: Fluxweed Moment
Edit
I see... the thing is, I know exactly where it is, I can see it in the very corner of my screen, but whenever I try to collect it part of the moment turns blue (you know how if you highlight it that happens? That's what happens here) and hence I cannot collect it. Unlike with The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 1 where I could just end the chapter and read it due to being unable to collect, now I cannot continue through with the Polyjuice Potion. Thank you for understanding, though. --Hunniebunn (talk) 15:09, October 7, 2012 (UTC)
- That's true... then again, how would 1337star have gotten the recipe then? Unless once you have the ingredients you can view the instructions just not make it? So confusing... hopefully, though, it won't be a necessity to brew the Potion correctly, or else I won't be able to continue through Pottermore :O.. oh well, I can still read about it here. Thanks for your help. --Hunniebunn (talk) 15:14, October 7, 2012 (UTC)
Polyjuice
Edit
Hello again. When I read your comment about not being able to brew the potion, I became confused. Are you sure there are check marks beside all the ingredients and no magnifying glasses? If you do have all the ingredients a blue "Brew this potion" button should pop up in the middle of the right hand page. I myself have collected the fluxweed - because my browser had zoomed in too much - and now am ready to brew the potion. However, as I still have difficulty with the Antidote I think I'll wait until - or unless - I have to brew the potion to do so. --Hunniebunn (talk) 19:40, October 7, 2012 (UTC)
Admin request
Edit
Just a heads-up, I have put in a request for admin privileges. You can find the request in the usual place. ProfessorTofty (talk) 21:59, October 9, 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you! ProfessorTofty (talk) 22:27, October 9, 2012 (UTC)
I was thinking for a fair while... you may have seen my post on here about the deletion of said tag. I was thinking of having similar (though at the same time much different) of templates, listing all the spells, potions, whatever it is, in each book on Pottermore; yes, it will essentially eliminate the necessity of a "Contents" section on the respective articles, but I find it might be helpful to have it all right there. I figured I'd ask you first, being both an admin and one of the go-to guys on the site, before I made said template... partly because it seemed the right thing to do even if we are supposed to "be bold" and partly because if I mess it up I figure you'll be one of the better people to warn beforehand. --Hunniebunn (talk) 00:01, October 12, 2012 (UTC)
Hopefully you don't mind my starting with the
template, and I'm hoping to get a few done later; if you don't want me to for whatever reason, please let me know before I get onto the potions books, because those are killer :P --Hunniebunn (talk) 22:10, October 12, 2012 (UTC)
- Oops, I only wanted to say I put them already on the sites because I find them good. I didn't know that there was no solution that it's okay. Harry granger Talk contribs 22:15, October 12, 2012 (UTC)

Got it. O. k., the video is too low for understanding but they show the text. I could not read all because "white" letters on "white" background - then you have no chance. Sometimes I guessed. I put that in these brackets ( ). Here is the text from the screenshots:
Disarming Charm - Practise
Soon you will see excerpts from the Book of Spells, an advanced magical textbook from the Restricted Section of the Library of Hogwarts.
Unbelievable, but true. The book was written over 200 years ago. ... read in this book the story of a ... spells.
and various magic ... in the book of spells to try ... the first step on your way to ... magic!
The Levitation charm was invented in 1944 by Jarleth Hobart who falsely believed that he had finally learned something that was the magician shaft never been able.
Hobart invited many magicians to finally take the Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot for a maiden flight.
On 16 July 1944 Hobart climbed onto the roof of the village church ... and jumped after some speeches and after a stirring performance of the national anthem in the air.
At first Hobart seemed to have succeeded ... and hung almost three minutes in the air, until the ... impatiently waiting for his moving.
In response to their boos began Hobart with childish swimming movements, which had no effect.
Because he mistakenly believed to be disabled by his boots and the jacket, he took them off and threw them away.
After he had taken off these clothes, Hobart fell eight meters deep and the audience below ... (realized) that things had not made him heavy, but held in the air.
Incensed by the louder laughter from the audience Hobart pulled his clothes further from him until after he had taken off his pants, completely naked fell on the ground, where he broke 16 bones and the Chief Warlock received a penalty for extraordinary stupidity.
I hope it helps. Harry granger Talk contribs 23:18, October 13, 2012 (UTC)

Hey
Edit
Hello. Just figured I'd ask (even only to make small talk, though of course it's mostly because I'm honestly curious) whether you were planning on buying the Wonderbook, and how you felt about it no matter which. --Hunniebunn (talk) 00:22, October 14, 2012 (UTC)
RE: Conversation
Edit
Nor am I, honestly, least of all because I don't have a PlayStation 3 either. You're right though, it does seem a tad interesting at least, and amazingly fun at best, but oh well; as you rightly stated, people are sure to be uploading videos of the game-play and such on YouTube and probably here as well once it's been released (which is in exactly a month, coincidentally). Sorry, by the way, about all the confusion with the dates about Hobart's development of the spell. --Hunniebunn (talk) 00:54, October 14, 2012 (UTC)
Hallowe'en
Edit
Just wondered, are we at the Harry Potter Wiki going to be doing anything for Hallowe'en, or are we just leaving it? Potterpedia is doing so, and we wondered whether it was happening here as well. --Hunniebunn (talk) 23:21, October 16, 2012 (UTC)
Armand (disambiguation)
Edit
Hi Seth, I wanted to know why did you delete the page "Armand (disambiguation)" if it was a disambiguation page like any other? The wiki didn't has it and the only I did was create it, I think that you should rostore the page because the wiki need a page like that because it's got two articles with this name and it could be cause of confusion, and I never deleted the articles that you created in my wiki, regards Matias Gryffindor

Hello I just saw your posted photo of Peeves the Polterguist and wondered where you got it as from what I know there has been no showing or viewings of Peeves in any of the films except for slight mentions of him in the first film and no released deleted scenes of him, where did you get it and if you have a video AT ALL then please send me a link please as I am a big fan of HP and Rik Mayal who was supposed to play Peeves.

New page creation - rat that played scabbers
Edit
Hi. I've recently come across some info about the rat which played Scabbers in the films. I don't think it's enough for a page but I have a bit of history, the fact he's german, and a source etc. I'd just like to know as I don't want it to be marked as un-necessary and then be deleted. Please excuse the spelling. ZRSFizzyBongs (talk) 20:18, October 17, 2012 (UTC)

Hunniebunn
Edit
Hello Seth. Sorry to bother you, but I can't get into any of the three accounts I made (Hunniebunn being the original, with PixieSpirit5431 and Nightshade13 both being replacements). For that reason, I'm just gonna keep on editing here, only without a user name. I'll be using my IP. Sorry for the inconvenience, but I figured I'd let you know, and could you please either delete or at least permanently block Hunniebunn from editing? Thanks. 173.33.132.248 22:26, October 21, 2012 (UTC)

Cabinet
Edit
Someone on Facebook keeps claiming that the Cabinet Harry is hiding inside is a Vanishing Cabinet and not a Crushing Cabinet. How do I convince him about the opposite? I keep referring to this Wiki, which I said only dealt with true facts taken directly from the Harry Potter series, but he keeps saying that it's crap. Others also respond on the fact about the Cabinet and I don't know what to say to him. If I name this Wiki he might delete the information. What do I do? --94.191.187.224 05:24, October 23, 2012 (UTC)

Edit
I don't know if this is the correct place to report this, but for me at least, on the Recent Changes page ProfessorTofty is still showing as an ordinary user, instead of being in bold and bright orange as he surely should now that he's an admin. This isn't a critical problem of course, but it would be good if it were fixed. -- RobertATfm (talk) 23:10, October 23, 2012 (UTC)
PotterPedia
Edit
Hello Seth. I just wondered whether you wanted to check out Potterpedia, and whether you were interested in becoming a "regular" editor there - we're coming along fairly well. RE:Response
Edit
I think I fixed my signature, sorry about that. Anywho, thanks - I guess I just missed it, since I don't recall seeing it. Is it the one behind McGonagall in her picture on the Transfiguration page, or somewhere else? As for Potterpedia - oh well, I just figured I'd ask you to check it out and see whether you were interested. I understand, though - I contribute mainly to Potterpedia, whether it be by reading things, making pages, or doing other things. --Hunniebunn (talk) 22:18, October 27, 2012 (UTC)

Pottermoreold
Edit
Just a heads-up (though you may have already seen) - the new template, Pottermoreold, is going on all pages with Pottermore content that doesn't originate at least in part from this morning's release. This template does nothing but put the article in the hidden category with the articles that have content from Pottermore. If you'd like to help, just change the "Pottermore" to "Pottermoreold" on any page that needs the change. ProfessorTofty (talk) 15:27, October 31, 2012 (UTC)
General Counter-Spell
Edit
I wondered if you could please take a look at this page, if you have the time - it's been going on for a while with many diverse arguments. Thanks. --Hunniebunn (Talk) 20:57, October 31, 2012 (UTC)
Help me, Seth
Edit
OK There is a huge massive dilemma ging on over at the Periculum - Red Sparks pages. I have regenerated Red Sparks into a redirection page, but cannot change the name of Periculum, as Periculum and Red Sparks are the same spell. I suggest a merge of the two, but I have no idea how to do that, but I just wondered if you could...er...do something about that, um, it has been an annoyance. Thanks, from MrSiriusBlack (talk) 22:15, November 8, 2012 (UTC)
Remembrance/Veterans Day
Edit
I'm not sure whether, where you live, Remembrance (or Veterans, War, or Soldier's) Day is honoured, but all the same I figured I'd share this video with you - it's quite nicely sung, as we all can agree. --Remember (Least We Forget) 22:58, November 9, 2012 (UTC)
- Seth is British, right? It's Remembrance Day there, too. ProfessorTofty (talk) 23:28, November 9, 2012 (UTC)
- Really? I always assumed Seth was from Brazil or Portugal... interesting. --Remember (Least We Forget) 23:35, November 9, 2012 (UTC)
- Brazilian or Portuguese? If it's either, I'm going to feel pretty silly. I thought for sure he was British. ProfessorTofty (talk) 23:38, November 9, 2012 (UTC)
- I can remember that he once said that he lives in Portugal but that must not mean that he is a Portuguese. Perhaps he reads this and tells us. Harry granger Talk contribs 23:42, November 9, 2012 (UTC)
- I'm Portuguese, actually; I'm from Lisbon. Although, if you mistook me for a Brit, I guess I should take that as a compliment. ;P -- Seth Cooper owl post! 23:44, November 9, 2012 (UTC)
- Heh, well there we go, then. Glad to at least get it cleared up. ProfessorTofty (talk) 23:47, November 9, 2012 (UTC)
RE:History

Wow... that is truly incredible. Thanks for teaching me that; it's good to know. So Happy St. Martin's Day. Your last point was perhaps the most touching thing I've yet heard today: that those who face the horrors of war to defend their peers and their country should be remembered, honoured and respected. --Remember (Least We Forget) 23:48, November 9, 2012 (UTC)

I know that you obtained this sentence ("It's covered in dust! You must be the first student in years to pick it up.") in the original version of Wonderbook, but I didn't manage to obtain it in French version.... if you have the possibility of obtaining it, inform me!

Hello Seth. I just wondered, how come the category for Wonderbook: Book of Spells says there's no pages or media in it? --Hunniebunn (talk) 16:56, November 18, 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, I saw that right after I sent you the message. I was going to go back and to leave a note that it was working, but I got busy with other matters. Thanks. --Hunniebunn (talk) 17:34, November 18, 2012 (UTC)

Ask for help
Edit
Hi, Seth! I recently was made admin on this german wiki http://de.harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Benutzer:Harry_granger, the Harry Potter Lexicon, not the Harry Potter Wiki, and wanted to ask you if it's allowed to use the images in this wiki here on that Wiki, too? I hope you agree. It would really help us. Although we have a lot of pictures, but sometimes there are missing some, for example, when it comes to Pottermore. What do you mean?

RE:Alphabet
Edit
I certainly do remember... Wow!
It must have been a real pain for you trying to find it... or did you just stumble upon it?
Either way, it's truly incredible. Thanks very much...
Just wondering, though; the link didn't include any translations or anything, so do you know what "agrama", "bodamilomin" and "Vtopas ha Boccas" mean?
Even if you don't, it's truly incredible and quite interesting. Thanks! --This is an automatically sent message. (You can reply here) 16:20, November 24, 2012 (UTC)
- UPDATE: I found out that the line
"Vtopos ha Boccas peula chama polta chamaan" translates to the Latin
"Utopus me dux ex non insula fecit insulam"
Which means, in English,
"The commander Utopus made me, who was once not an island, into an island".
"Bodamilomin" means "for the mortals",
and "agrama" means "city".
My source is this wikipedia article, if needed. --This is an automatically sent message. (You can reply here) 16:28, November 24, 2012 (UTC)- Really? Perhaps they are waiting to be found by you. And as to the translations: it must just have been something to have filled the space with; why would the Transfiguration teacher, second-most strict of all of them, write "The mythical founder of Utopia made me"? And unless they were conjuring cities for mortals to live in, the other two don't make much sense either... --This is an automatically sent message. Christmas
Edit
Hello Seth. I know it's very early in the year for this - there's a month to go - but I figured I'd ask whether the Harry Potter wiki was planning on doing anything other than normal for Christmas... I know for Hallowe'en the wordmark got lightened a bit. --This is an automatically sent message. (You can reply here) 23:46, November 24, 2012 (UTC)
- Glad to see you agree with me on that front - as for hearing about things, over on the Potter Dictionary we got it on earlier this morning. I really can't imagine anything that extravagant happening here, but you never know. And thanks for letting me know; I saw the template when I went through some of the admins' archived talk pages, but this is the first time I've been formally introduced. As for ideas and forums, most of my ideas would be better suited for decorating the White House in the USA, rather than the Harry Potter Wiki :). --This is an automatically sent message. (You can reply here) 01:03, November 25, 2012 (UTC)
- Well, it'd probably be too much to change the background, links and stuff all green and red... But you never know. I'll make a forum on it soon. In the meantime, though, since I can't upload wordmarks or anything, do you have any ideas? --This is an automatically sent message. (You can reply here) 01:34, November 25, 2012 (UTC)
- That'd be nice; you're right, there isn't anything wrong with the old one, but change can be good. Also, I don't remember the last time the Quote of the Week was updated (actually, I'm not even sure what that is). And I remember that one with the Father Christmas hat on the "p" (it was tilted to the left, wasn't it?). And I would have offered to do the slider if it weren't for all the weird coding (as for the thing needing updating, it was updated eleven days ago by The Professor). Thanks for all your suggestions, they're really helping get into the "Christmas spirit" (also, if you want to hear a good Christmas song, I'd recommend this one). --This is an automatically sent message. Hey Seth, it's Colin687 from Dumbledore's Army Role-Play Wiki. Just wondering, or suggesting, well, i had this idea i suppose. Anyway, I think that it would be (possibly) better if there were two wikis, or maybe some way of telling where information came from, the book or the movie. And then I thought, well, why don't they have things that say, From the Movie, and From the Book. Then it struck me. i would be willing to work on copying and pasting everything on here that is originated from the book onto a seperate wiki called the "Book Edition: Harry Potter Wiki" and another, "Movie Edition: Harry Potter wiki." Then i thought, no ones going to want to work on this, and i don't even know if they'll agree. So, I thought I'd ask you, king of the wiki, and ask "Is there anyway that the seperation from the movie's and the books would be possible?" Colin687

New pages
Edit
I wondered what you would think of my idea on creating two new pages? One regarding the village mentioned by George Weasley, which lies in the town of Ottery St. Catchpole, and the other about the papershop in it. --94.191.186.99 07:05, December 10, 2012 (UTC)
Two issues
Edit
A couple of things - first, if you could take a moment to look over my recent forum post regarding Featured articles, I'd really appreciate it. We really need to do something about the problem with not being able to get any new articles featured. Secondly, in examining the Orphaned pages, I noticed a number of ones for voice actors of Harry Potter characters in dubbing. I noticed also that you had previously deleted one of these, stating that the info could be either on Harry Potter in translation, or one of the foreign language HP wikis, but since then, quite a few have been created. What do we want to do about them? ProfessorTofty (talk) 21:58, December 10, 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks. I've gone ahead and updated things and also proposed another modification. I've also asked to be an Unspeakable myself, to the degree that that feature will still be active under this system. My next task will be clean out the current featured articles nominations, which are a bit of a mess at the moment. ProfessorTofty (talk) 04:09, December 12, 2012 (UTC)
Video viewing
Edit
Say Seth, I was wondering, are you able to view the videos that Wikia has been adding? I'm curious because I know that a lot of time these videos aren't made available outside of the United States and I wasn't sure if you and others were able to see them or not, but I haven't heard back from Wikia about it. ProfessorTofty (talk) 23:42, December 12, 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks, good to know. I was worried that the videos might be worse than useless for those who don't live in the U.S. ProfessorTofty (talk) 20:00, December 13, 2012 (UTC)

Well, I just remembered that my most recent post has been left unanswered for quite a while, and likewise the merge template has been up longer than I can remember. I wonder if, since you were the one to respond originally, you could please check my new (though not much improved, unfortunately) theory. Thanks Mr President :P --Hunnie Bunn (talk) 02:13, December 17, 2012 (UTC)

Time-Turner
Edit
Wanted to get your thoughts on a new feature that I just created called Time Turner. This feature turns pages back in time, you could say, by highlighting a past revision of the article. I was thinking if it proves popular enough, it could become a regular feature. ProfessorTofty (talk) 02:51, December 20, 2012 (UTC)
"Image" of Invisible Book of Invisibility
Edit
Heh heh heh heh heh. Good one. ProfessorTofty (talk) 04:16, December 21, 2012 (UTC)
- Well, yeah, I realise that the "image" comes from Pottermore, but I thought it was entertaining to actually use that on the page. I had problems accessing Pottermore yesterday and so I wasn't able to get in till late last night, but I was pleased to see that there was still plenty to be added here. Re: the Time-Turner - well, the plan is, maybe every couple of weeks or so, I (or if you want to, or any other admin) will find an article of interest and turn it back to a point in its history that might be interesting - such as the date an article was first featured, or a holiday such as Christmas on the date of the previous Christmas. A couple of technical things still need to be worked out, though - I'm not happy with the position of the little Time-Turner emblem on the page when the Golden Snitch for Featured article is also there, and once a couple more of these have been done, I'd like to find a place to put it on the homepage. Daniel Lupin
Edit
I already asked ProfessorTofty about this, but I figured I'd hear what you had to say. It's a ludicrous idea, I know, but I couldn't help wondering if the IP anon who keeps adding info about Daniel Lupin is actually either J. K. Rowling or a member of the Pottermore team. It would make sense, as Rowling created the world (of Harry Potter), and the Pottermore team would presumably have Lupin's bio to start adding mid-book (I'm hoping there's as much, if not more, as in McGonagall's). --Hunnie Bunn (talk) 02:24, January 1, 2013 (UTC)
- Already discussed between him and me and pretty thoroughly dismissed-- the IP in question has been making fanon edits since August. ProfessorTofty (talk) 02:39, January 1, 2013 (UTC)
Rowling editing
Edit
Well, if we didn't know it was her, there would be no problem, so long as she didn't add any information that wasn't already available anywhere else. Unfortunately, if she did add such information, and she either didn't reveal herself or weren't able to prove it, we'd have no choice but to revert it like any other fanon, until and unless we started realising that it was proving prophetically true, at which point, she would be outed anyway. If she did reveal herself, then that's easy-- we just create the "Rowling's exception" clause to our policy and also clearly mark that such information has been added by an account verified to be Rowling. Lavender Brown death, again
Edit
You'll probably see it anyway, but I just wanted to give you a heads-up that the argument that Lavender Brown survived has started up again. I directed the posters to the archives, but it continues anyway. The "new" argument, apparently, is that survival is assumed if J. K. Rowling didn't tell us that she died. And that because the sequence of the events in the book is different from what's in the film, then what's in the film cannot be considered canon. ProfessorTofty (talk) 20:02, January 12, 2013 (UTC)
Featured articles nominations
Edit
Say, Seth, as a fellow Unspeakable, I was wondering if you could, when you have a moment, review the current Featured articles nominations. There's some great choices on there, as well as a few that we need to track down image sourcing on, but otherwise seem good to go. I don't suppose it's a big rush since we do have a fair few in reserve that I cleaned out from the older nominations that were left sitting, so just whenever you have a chance. Priori Incantatem
Edit
Sorry to keep bothering you, but I wondered if it would be prudent to rename Priori Incantatem to "Reverse Spell Effect", as it is so named in Chapter Thirty-Six of the fourth book. "The Reverse Spell Effect?" said Sirius sharply. As I read it through the US version, which I found online, the word "effect" may or may not be capitalized in the British version. --Hunnie Bunn (talk) 21:54, January 14, 2013 (UTC)

Flipendo Tria
Edit
Hi Seth. I figured I'd ask first, but shouldn't "Flipendo Tria" be at "Knockback Jinx Tria" in order to keep consistency with "Knockback Jinx" and then "Knockback Jinx Duo"? --Hunnie Bunn (Owl me!) 17:21, January 20, 2013 (UTC)
And some more questions...
Edit
Thanks for answering my last question, and sorry to keep bombarding you with messages, but I figured I'd ask... ten minutes ago, I asked Professor Tofty:
If all of the information in a guidebook perfectly reflects canon, except for giving a certain spell a name it didn't have in the book, would we be able to use that name? Other sources for the name include this wiki and this fansite (ironically, the fansite adheres to canon more strictly than the wiki).
And so I figured I'd ask if, since it's been so long (I know it's only been ten minutes, but I'm rather impatient today), I'd ask whether you knew. Thanks! --Hunnie Bunn (Owl me!) 17:25, January 20, 2013 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks; just wondering, does that mean "Freezing Spell" goes back to "Glacius" and "Seize and Pull Charm" goes back to "Carpe Retractum", despite both being approved by an admin; the only sources I could find for either name were fan-sites and wikis. --Hunnie Bunn (Owl me!) 17:33, January 20, 2013 (UTC)
- Ah, I see... thanks. Never having been able to get past the earliest parts of the game, I didn't have the opportunity to see that, and so assumed that the names were fan-made. Thanks for letting me know. --Hunnie Bunn (Owl me!) 17:47, January 20, 2013 (UTC)

Now, I've got two sets of instructions given by two admins - Prof. Tofty, allowing me to remove the more general category, and you, putting some restrictions on this. Any possibility to have a consensus before I go on? Thanks, MinorStoop 17:44, January 20, 2013 (UTC)
- Well, thanks for explaining. I'll see that I amend my ways. :) MinorStoop 20:11, January 20, 2013 (UTC)
Possibly same character
Edit
Hello Seth Cooper I noticed that: Unidentified Death Eater (III) and Unidentified Male Death Eater (III) has the same costume .If it's the same character then we're on this Wiki progressed a further .Talk it over with the other Admins .
Even more questions...
Edit
Sorry to keep bothering you, but I wondered what your opinion on this maatter was, if you had any, and whether you could please add your thoughts onto the adequate page. Thank you. --Hunnie Bunn (Owl me!) 23:19, January 20, 2013 (UTC)
Merlin
Edit
Er... Seth, isn't Merlin holding a wand in that picture? --Hunnie Bunn (Owl me!) 00:50, January 21, 2013 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. In which case...
- Would "Merlin's staff" be article-worthy?
- Should he still be on the list of witches and wizards who can cast wandless spells? --Hunnie Bunn (Owl me!) 01:35, January 21, 2013 (UTC)
RE:Merlin/Riddikulus
Edit
- I thought the light came from the staff in his right hand... oh well.
- Certainly it wouldn't be opposable, but would it help the wiki?
- Do I still need to wait the customary three days before renaming "Boggart-Banishing Spell" to "Riddikulus"?
Thanks for putting up with all of my questions and complaints, by the way. --Hunnie Bunn (Owl me!) 01:50, January 21, 2013 (UTC)
HP on the Web
Edit
Hey there! User:Nick O'Demus recommended you for handling the Harry Potter Twitter account (@Official_HPWiki) and Facebook page. We try to maintain it pretty regularly, but it is mostly just a fun little thing we try to keep up. Please let me know if you are interested or can think of other active HP Wiki users that might be interested, thanks!
Grace 17:35, January 22, 2013 (UTC)
- That would be great! Professor Tofty offered to handle the Twitter account. Could you please e-mail me at grace@wikia-inc.com for more information? Thank you! Grace

Hello, now that you are a Facebook admin for the HP Wiki page, is there any time you can hop onto chat so we can discuss what should be posted on the page and whatnot? Let me know, thanks! Grace 23:29, February 4, 2013 (UTC)

Hi Seth. Congrats on becoming a bureaucrat on this wiki. I've granted the rights, so you should now have access to changing user's rights. Enjoy. :) Cheers, grunny@talk:~$ 03:33, January 26, 2013 (UTC)

- Yes, a most heartfelt congratulations upon your promotion to bureaucrat status; you deserved it. --Hunnie Bunn (Owl me!) 03:49, January 26, 2013 (UTC)
- Great congrats and many many good wishes from me, too. Like Hunnie Bunn said already: You deserve it. You've done so much for this wiki. All the best from Harry granger Talk contribs 13:36, January 26, 2013 (UTC)
- I give my congrats as well-- you've been such a big part of this wiki for so long that you were a bureaucrat in all but name anyway. ProfessorTofty (talk) 14:47, January 26, 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you so much, all! -- Seth Cooper owl post! 15:10, January 26, 2013 (UTC)
- You're quite welcome! Can I ask that your first act be that you grant Hunnie Bunn his rollback? The request has been out for a while without any objections, so it's probably about time he got it. ProfessorTofty (talk) 15:27, January 26, 2013 (UTC)
Rollback Rights
Edit
Thank you Seth so much for the gift of these "roll-back rights". Thank you for trusting me with these rights, and rest assured I won't let any of you down. --Hunnie Bunn (Owl me!) 15:53, January 26, 2013 (UTC)

Love Potion
Edit
Hi Seth. Sorry to be a bother, but I wondered if you knew which ingredients were being used in this video, which shows the making of a Love Potion in the video game. Thanks! --Hunnie Bunn (Owl me!) 03:55, January 27, 2013 (UTC)

Hello <insert name here>. My name is Hunnie Bunn, and I am a rollback user on the Harry Potter Wiki. I first began editing on this wiki in February of 2012, and have since acquainted myself with a number of the friendly and polite contributors here, as well as the rules and regulations of the wiki.
I created the Potter-Dictionary Wiki on 24 October, 2012 and am an administrator and bureaucrat there. I also adopted the Potterpedia Wiki on 23 September, 2012, and am an admin/bureaucrat on there as well. These wikis provide valuable information, but are in desperate need of contributors; if you possess any of the seven Harry Potter novels and are willing to contribute, please help.
Users may notice that prior to today, I was a Hufflepuff on Pottermore, under the username HexFlame1226. However, after posting the comment
"Thanks for helping."
after a contributor helped me find a Peppermint Toad, the Pottermore team decided to infinitely ban my account. Nonetheless, I've found a new start under the username MoonEcho9260, and I am now a Slytherin. Feel free to add me as a friend regardless of your House, and if you want to send a duel request you may (although it would be appreciated if you wait until I find Curses and Counter-Curses in the Library.
That seems to be all... if you need verification for a statement, I own the first five films and all seven books (albeit only the American version of the sixth book) so feel free to ask.
Never mind, it seems I wasn't bullying after all. Sorry to bother.| Hunnie Bunn | |

Blocked IP Making Edits
Edit
Hi. I figured I'd let you know this blocked IP has continued making edits, leaving messages on their talk page stating they will not follow the rules, and since I don't know how to handle this I figured it best to let the admins know. --Hunnie Bunn (Owl me!) 23:12, January 30, 2013 (UTC)
RE:Blocked IP/Reading Club
Edit
Never having needed to block anyone I didn't know that, so thanks for filling me in on the subject. As for the reading club, the Professor already posted on the Twitter that anyone interested was to message me, but still nothing. He wanted to wait and see whether anyone responded; so far everyone who've given their opinions - RainbowDashful, ProfessorTofty, BNL78STEEL and you - have all said it's a good idea; do you think we should wait for Nick O'Demus and Cubs Fan2007 before advertising somewhere more prominent and close to the wiki? --Hunnie Bunn (Owl me!) 23:43, January 30, 2013 (UTC)

Edit
Hi Seth. I wondered if you knew where the portrait in this image was taken? And whether he had taken it or if his parents had...? Thanks. --Hunnie Bunn (Owl me!) 16:34, February 3, 2013 (UTC)
- Oh well; it's the thought that counts. Thanks for trying to figure it out. --Hunnie Bunn (Owl me!) 16:50, February 3, 2013 (UTC)

Hide button
Edit
Hi, I have a question about the hide button in the infoboxes, see one example here at the bottom of the infobox. Do you know how this is made? The code for hidable we have in the MediaWiki:Common.js, but it nonetheless does not work. Must there an image for "hide" uploaded or what has to be done? Harry granger Talk contribs 22:50, February 9, 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, I thought that it must be that code and I saw we have the code in the other wiki, too. But it does not work so I thought there could be more. But it seems to be a difficult thing. Perhaps it's better I ask someone from the Community Central Wiki. Thanks nonetheless. Harry granger Talk contribs 23:07, February 9, 2013 (UTC)
