Re your edits to Merope Gaunt, Marvolo Gaunt, and Morfin Gaunt. I'm assuming you're the one that posted the exact same information to all three articles. If not, I apologise. I don't think we need exact copies of information about the whole family pasted to all three articles, especially not when a lot of the information is either a. not really relevant or b. duplicated in the existing article.

And about the adverts over the edit box, if you mean the Google ads down the side, I have two words for you: Mozilla Firefox. Cheers, Hermione1980 23:56, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

You can add screenshots as long as they're good and there aren't too many in the article. Be sure to tag them with {{screenshot}} when uploading. I'll unprotect the copyright page. Try and fix it up as soon as possible. This is the same Sandpiper from Wikipedia right? John Reaves (talk) 16:21, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

The tone should be encyclopedic and everything that can be, should be written from an in-unverse perspective (the opposite of Wikipedia). I'm not sure whatype of referencing system is in place here. I sggest just trying out different ones and importing one from Wikipedia if it doesn't work. John Reaves (talk) 21:06, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Do you like the new "new message" bar? John Reaves (talk) 19:12, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
I though of that too, but I'm not sure how to make it transparent. John Reaves (talk) 16:14, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I was concerned about the similarity. You perhaps know about the "copyleft" policy of Wikipedia, or that all of the text put up there automatically belongs to Wikipedia (at least I think so). Also, the 1st-gen editors decided to establish a "no-copy policy" because, as you can imagine, if a reader comes here from Wikipedia and sees that the article is the same (or seems the same) as the one on WP, she will subconsciously decide that the article is merely a copy; we lose viewers this way.

If you could change the article a bit, not to much but just enough to look different, that would be fine. Also, if you plan to put up speculation, don't forget to tag it with a {{disclaimer}}. Anyhow, I trust your discretion and leave it up to you to edit it. The Chosen One (Choose me!) 22:10, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Well if it's not necessarily the license that's bothering me, more the effect two essentially similar articles in WP and HPW will have on an occassional reader. If they only view a few such articles and nothing else, they may come to the conclusion that we are only copying from Wikipedia, and we may lose readers (which we don't want to happen).
The disclaimer tag is just fine. Of course, since HPW is an open wiki, anyone may edit, and as we agreed that this wiki should host types of speculation not really acceptable on WP, the disclaimer tag is necessary. Re "Winkypedians", if you look in the archives, that's what we officially call ourselves. The Chosen One (Choose me!) 08:10, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
I have already tagged Sybill Trelawney upon your suggestion. No, a distinctive but incomplete article is not what we want. A familiar but detailed article would always be preferable, though what we are striving for is a distinctive and detailed article. How we do that is up to each of us.
So far, there have been only two uses of the {{disclaimer}} tag, one in Is Dumbledore dead? and the other in Hermione Prophecy. Ideally, the tag should be used in each case involving speculation; however, most articles with "official" speculation (the kind allowed on Wikipedia) don't really need the tag. It would be a good idea to tag less official hypotheses though, as there may be editors who are wont to throw in their own interpretation along with the known ones, and, as a less rigid wiki, we have to accept their input.
With regard to the family tree, you can try and produce something and we'll look at it when you're finished. The Chosen One (Choose me!) 16:26, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Black Family Tree img

Hermione1980 expressed the same concern about the image, but nobody was able to redraw a family tree. I have no skill whatsoever in Paint or Photoshop, so I can't do it, but if you or anybody else can, the effort would be appreciated. The current image should be deltagged or at least replaced with a non-copyrighted one. The Chosen One (Choose me!) 08:16, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

There's is supposed to be a new feature that only shows users that have edited this wiki, right now it shows every user on every Wikia wiki, so I guess it still doesn't work. There is no way to remove the the user names from the list, it merely shows all created accounts whether or not there is a userpage. Hopefully my reply made sense?John Reaves (talk) 00:09, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Black tree looks good. There's nothing I can do about the site displaying these users. Maybe you could bring it up at the central Wikia wiki. John Reaves (talk) 00:37, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

I don't know if you noticed, but I've granted you Rollback privileges. John Reaves (talk) 21:03, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Horcruxes and RAB

I'm the one you know in the french Wikipedia as "Bourbaki". So, I think you and Folken are likely to go to the ArbCom, but in the intermediate time I have a suggestion:

  • put all the stuff Folken wants to delete here: Horcrux
  • add a direct link in Wikipedia.

See you. Barraki 07:03, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Regulus Black

Hey, I see you are the writer of the section of Regulus Black that has a quote that was taken from The Leaky Cauldron website. Could you properly source it? I would do it but I do not know your date of access. If you could do this, it would be great Thank you and if you have any questions, post something on my talk page Sith Penguin Lord 16:09, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Well thanks for the comments. I haven't been on here much I've been working on One Wiki to Rule Them All, the Middle-earth Encyclopedia and working on a Homeworld 2 mod, but thanks for making me feel welcome and adding that citation. Well I'm off to put a welcome templete on my own talk page. Good-bye Sith Penguin Lord 19:20, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
