[edit] Healing spell pronunciation

  • vulnero : to wound, injure, hurt, harm
  • salveo : to be well, be in good health

Could that be it? - Nick O'Demus 00:53, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Possibly. I didn´t learn Latin at school. I only looked the words up in a dictionary.--Rodolphus 08:04, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Marius

Marius was a Squib. We know that squibs can't do magic, and if child can't do magic at age 7, that means that child really is squib. So, he was probably disnowned from family at seven or even earlier. --Lord 10:29, 22 August 2009 (UTC)´

It´s a bit speculative, isn´t it?--Rodolphus 10:33, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

Hmm, maybe is. But he was probably disnowned very young, and so, it's possible that he died young, alone in big Muggle world. --Lord 10:59, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

Look, I know that you loves Bellatrix. (My mum looks like her when she was younger!) I know that under picture of Elladora (that's my favourite female name from the tree, and because she was crazy and she don victory over stereotyp) is written just "Elladora". But I know this: under picture of Alexia is written "Alexia", then her dates, then the fisr name of her husband, and his surname "Walkin". I think that her full name was "Alexia Walkin nee Black". She was maybe an aunt of Cygnus and Arcturus I (my theory is that they wrere brothers). Look this, please: File:Blackfamilytreeootp1.jpg You can see Alexia Walkin and that under her picture is written many words, not just Alexia Walkin. Please, notice this. And, what you think: is my English good? I love English names, and do you know the etymology of name Cedrella? It's interesting that she and her sisters have got names on "C" (Callidora, Charis, Cedrella). Arcturus and Lysandra were probably good parents.--Lord 16:58, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

OK. Thanks for the explanation. I´m understanding it now.--Rodolphus 17:02, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Can users upload an image of theyself?

(This question is stupid, but listen: On your user page I notice that your eyes are blue gey. What means "gey"? I know that this is kind a silly, but my question are sometimes strange (like Bellatrix Lestrange, and she was strange, I'm sorry). Did you means that you eyes are blue-gray or blue-gay (this one is really stupid, I know, but please answer to me, and you should know, I am just curious, like many people who cames from varios countries). Good luck!--Lord 17:22, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

It is a missspelling of "gray", right. I´ll correct it.--Rodolphus 17:26, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Can I upload my image? It was vierd to me that eyes can be gey or gay (but if they are happy...). Good night! (in Croatia, my country, now is 20 hours and 10 minutes).

But that witch was very kind and she looks like someone who know Barty very well..--Lord

Look, we know that on one picture are decipted ancestors of the family. We know some of them: Alexia Walkin, Eduardus Limette, Phoebe and Mrs Blishwick. Only person who we don't know is this unknown Black. So, he is the only unknown Black, and so, article about him must be called "Unidentified Black" or "Unknown Black". If we founds out his name, then we will change article's name to, for example "James Black" ((I don't really think that his name was James, I think he had two names, as Alexia Walkin or Eduardus Limette, or Phineas Nigellus). --Lord 11:25, October 10, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Muggle-born Death Eaters?

Where did JKR say that? I know she said in an interview that there were muggle-born Slytherins and half-blood Death Eaters, but since the Death Eaters were trying to wipe muggle-borns out, it doesn't seem likely that any of them would be muggle-born themselves. It'd be like a Jewish Nazi. - Nick O'Demus 15:48, September 12, 2009 (UTC)

Alright then, as long as JKR says so. Also, I noticed you're a Bellatrix fan, so I thought this might interest you. - Nick O'Demus 16:14, September 12, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] DS Pictures

Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of the game characters, because obtaining them would involve photographing my DS, which I don't think would turn out well due to the small screen. Starstuff (Owl me!) 08:25, September 28, 2009 (UTC)

Emulators are the only way to get digital screenshots of a game, but emulation is of questionable legal status, and doesn't always work. Using a camera to photograph the screen of a TV/DS/GBA/PSP/etc. while a game is playing on it is another option, but the resulting images may not be of the best quality, due to factors like ambient light (sunlight, lamps, etc.) reflecting off the screen's glass and the "glow" of backlighting used for LCD screens.
In the HBP game for DS, when the characters speak, there aren't close-up portraits in their dialogue bubbles like in some other games. The game has a top-down view (here is an example) and there's only few times when it zooms in so that you can see a character's face. Starstuff (Owl me!) 10:53, October 1, 2009 (UTC)

Hmmm, well, I don't know what gender was that person. Also, are you sure that skull is a person? Maybe is just a decorative motiv like mermaids under Mrs Blishwick. But, Regulus is a skull (on real tapestry, he is a wizard with hat), so, this skull is probably a person. I think he/she was a brother/sister of Eduardus, Alexia, Phoebe and the first Black.--Lord 19:14, October 13, 2009 (UTC)´

Didn´t the skull have a scroll? I don´t know the gender too, but if there was one, he/she must be a person.--Rodolphus 19:19, October 13, 2009 (UTC)

OK, but this person was decipted on the door. In the film, when Sirius closed the door, we don't see anything on the image, just a black door. So, I thinks - it's maybe possible that this skull is just a skull (but with name, maybe is on the scroll writen family moto) because this skull do not appears in the film. But, I think this is maybe really a person, so I will made an article about that person. Or maybe you?--Lord 19:26, October 13, 2009 (UTC)´

You can do it.--Rodolphus 19:31, October 13, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Wizengamot

The Wizengamot may be for Harry Potter Wikia discussions and not Harry Potter in general, but where are we supposed to ask questions about the series and dig deeper into it if there's no place for it? The Wizengamot has been used for any type of HP discussion since I've been a user so why should it change?Still Learning 14:06, October 15, 2009 (UTC)

To my knowledge, the Wizengamot is for discussing changes which affect more than one article. (e. g. changing infoboxes for multiple characters, identify unnamed film characters) and not for speculation. I cite the Wizengamot Main Page:

" The Wizengamot is a site-wide discussion area meant for topics concerning the Harry Potter Wiki. "--Rodolphus 14:21, October 15, 2009 (UTC)

Doesn't Harry Potter in general concern Harry Potter Wiki?Still Learning 20:20, October 16, 2009 (UTC)

The forum is meant to discuss improvements to the articles, not to speculate aboutt things.--Rodolphus 20:23, October 16, 2009 (UTC)

Where are we supposed to discuss Harry Potter in general if there is no place for that on the Harry Potter Wiki?Still Learning 20:29, October 16, 2009 (UTC)

Harry Potter Wiki is an encyclopedia. If my knowledge is right, you can discuss Harry Potter in every general HP forum like e. g. Mugglenet. To be sure, you could better ask one of our Admins. I´m not an expert on our policies, too.--Rodolphus 20:36, October 16, 2009 (UTC)

Also, why is there a discussion page tabbed to almost every article in this HP site? Aren't those for discussions on articles as far as editing and whatnot also? Why wouldn't the Wizengamot be an ok place to discuss HP in general?Still Learning 16:04, October 22, 2009 (UTC)

Please have a look on that Forum and ask your questions there.--Rodolphus 16:09, October 22, 2009 (UTC)
