New Template? Edit

Hi Professor. I see there's been a number of users over the time this wiki has existed who have been taking things waay too personally, or who have made personal attacks. I was thinking of making a template, like:
"Chill out, dude! You're taking everything way too seriously. Please calm down."

Admittedly, it is a copy-and-paste of what you wrote on my talk page, but all the same: here it is. The code to produce it is {{Temper}} (not too sure if that's the best name for it). And sure, that shouldn't be too difficult (for the QotW).

That's true; there was indeed quite a bit of "good stuff" in the films (especially, methinks, in the third one). I agree with most of what you said, but Rowling said Sirius was "unhinged" - he saw his best friend in pain, not a feral monster getting ready to shred everyone apart. I don't blame him for his actions, even if perhaps they weren't the most sensible.

As for the bridge scene, I'll admit the "Your mother was there for me at a time when no one else was. Not only was she a singularly gifted witch, she was also an uncommonly kind woman. She had a way of seeing the beauty in others even, and perhaps most especially, when that person couldn't see it in themselves" line(s) kind of reminded me of the "Lupin was very fond of Lily" line, and I have to wonder whether J. Well, we did get the info on Aunt Marge, the Knight Bus and Cadogan, as well as Professor Kettleburn in the first set of chapters. But all the same, there are twenty-two chapters in the book, and there's an illustration from the fourteenth one in there which means we'll be getting at least six chapters. Leaving eight chapters after that, and a whole biography. So hopefully they'll come out soon.

Do you have an estimate as to when you think they'll be released? It's been around two months (now I stop to think about it, closer to three) so probably soon. I'm guessing the twentieth if we're lucky (because it's usually around the end of the month) and April 12 if we aren't (because it's normally on a Friday that they're released). --Hunnie Bunn 20:19, March 13, 2013 (UTC)

It wouldn't be half as aggravating if they would update the Insider to let us know what they're up to or something. Last we heard was a couple of weeks ago when they improved the comments, and I don't understand the way people will sign comments with names that have nothing to do with themselves or their friends... Quidditch teams with robes mess Edit

I believe this edit was the source of the problem, so I've reverted it and deleted the categories.

While we're on the subject, I think at some point we need to have a discussion about notability and standards for categories too. Some of the ones we have now seem ridiculously over-specific and/or redundant. Case in point, right now there are Category:Dragons, Category:Dragons (species), and Category:Individual dragons. I'm probably going to go ahead and consolidate them into just "Dragons" and delete the other two.

Okay there is a small update and another note I am going to divide up into there proper chapters that I have to do. Hagrid Edit

Yes, it does seem a bit sad that Harry, Hermione and Neville had to suffer because Hagrid couldn't confess. I agree that Hagrid could have given himself up, but if I remember correctly the punishment for owning a dragon egg is Azkaban. And Hagrid started crying just thinking of that horrible place.

What made me lose a lot of respect for Hagrid was when he said "An' it's your bad luck you grew up a family o' the biggest Muggles I've ever laid eyes on". Saying that Harry had bad luck living with a big family of Muggles seemed like a bit of a slap in the face - like Muggles are bad. Hey Professor Tofty, while searching the web one day, I happend to stumble upon this picture - m_1311300785868.jpg (578×800) ..... hopefully you will see this. Anyway, notice how it is a scar made of objects and things from Harry's World. Well, I thought "How cool would it be if each small image would link onto a page on the HP wiki!" The Bone SeasonEdit

Hey, Professor Tofty! Have you heard of The Bone Season? It is a great new YA dystopian book series with some aspects along the same veins as Harry Potter (but with a few key differences) that you might find interesting. You can get more information about Bone Season here. The publishers are actually offering us some copies to give to avid readers active on book wikis that would be interested, and you came to mind!

It would be awesome to get a read on what you thought of the book and if we could get a great community going on wikis based on it. Marital Status Edit

The infobox on the Trio (plus one, if you include Ginny Weasley)'s pages, states they're all married, wich is true only for the two or three pages of the Epilogue. For the rest of the series (virtually the whole of it), they're not.

May I inquire about the reasoning behind this detail? Personally, I'd change their marital status to unmarried, perhaps with a second line stating that by the epilogue it was upgraded, should this modification stand a chance to survive scrutiny. MinorStoop 10:38, April 21, 2013 (UTC)

I can't remember if I'd already asked for help, but since it seems I haven't... earlier this month or late last month I asked Grunny for help and there's been no answer, and Nick O'Demus doesn't know what's up with it either so I figured I'd ask you. The infoboxes on the Potter Dictionary (this one, actually) have been expanding to fit the writing within them, so that a certain amount of text put in could make it spread across the whole page. So... Danniesen has asked for another chance and once again I figured I'd ask your opinion. Personally, I think a... whatever chance this is on, I think a final opportunity should be given for him. Let him back, one mistake and he's off for good, but maybe over time he would help out, build back lost credit over a time period of months or maybe years.
