Hi! Can you check out the article Death (The Tale of the Three Brothers) and please vote for it to become a featured article. Thanks. And if you have a questions and stuff, just drop by to my talk. Cheers! --Artfrantic(Talk) 08:05, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the quote! I find the one from Carl Sagon on my userpage to be one of the most inspiring things I've ever head. :) ★ Starstuff(Owl me!) 22:21, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
My opinion is this: maybe Arcturus and Cygnus were brothers and Cygnus married. So he could be a father of Phineas Nigellus, Sirius I, Isla and Elladora, and Arcturus could be an uncle of them. What you think? --Lord Valensus 14:08, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
Do you know a name of Cygnus' wife? You suggested "Drea". --Lord Valensus 17:17, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
I think that the name of Sirius Black II's wife wasn't Hester, but Hesper. On the Black family tree, there is a name "Hesper Gamp", under the name "Sirius". Look picture and you will see.--Lord Valensus 14:07, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
I will write an article about wife of Cygnus Black I, because she deserves her article. But what will be a name of it - "wife of Cygnus Black I" or "Dea Max"? --Lord 18:29, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
Sure, if you want. It would be a great help. I stopped for today on the 16th century. What you have to do is divide the century in decades. In each decade you put the events that took place. Also, you have to redirect every year to the correspondent decade (e.g. redirecting 1872 to 1870s). You can check the already existing examples for decades, unefentful decades, centuries and years. I'll join you tomorrow! Thanks for the help, -- Seth Cooper(Owl Post) 01:26, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
In the pre-1000 years we should make an two articles like the current Events prior to 1800, one for the 1st to 10th centuries (first millenium A.C.) and another for all events before Christ.
If we don't know the right year/decade, yes I think they should be listed in the century article.
Your work with the y/d/c has been great so far! Tonight I can stay and help you with it. -- Seth Cooper(Owl Post) 00:57, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
We should use B.C. and A.C., since it's the one used in the series (like in Ollivander's Wand Shop plaque).-- Seth Cooper(Owl Post) 12:13, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
The pictures on your userpage are obscuring the infobox. ShirleyA(The Quibbler) 11:24, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Hello
Just wondering why you wanted to delete Snape's Love. I mean it really isn't hurting anybody and it is a simple request so please explain why you editied and why it is now a candidate for being deleted.
Sincerely, (DobbyandSocks 22:55, 17 July 2009 (UTC))
Hi Nick, thanks for your correction on Hermione Granger to my edit, my mistake. However, may I be so bold as to quietly point out that undoing an edit is not always the most constructive way of correcting information, for instance, as well as adding the incorrect in formation in good faith (apologies) I also removed a repeat of a pronoun (each pronoun refering to diffrent subjects). In future it would be good if you could just check that everything you are removing from the page really does have to go.
Again, thanks for the correction, all the best 92.236.88.188 21:12, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
I was told by 75.86.134.162 (Lucius malfoy7) that the Bridge collapse is mentioned to be the Millenium Bridge in the radio at the diner at Surbiton station. -- Seth Cooperowl post! 21:36, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
Does Hagrid raise his wand/umbrella after Dumbledore's death: I couldn't really make it out. Sorry.
Any specific mention of Brockdale/Millenium Brdige: The Bridge is stated to be Millennium on a radio broadcast at Surbiton
Whether "Partis Temporus" is the correct pronunciation: According to the portuguese subtitles, yes it is.
The name of the diner Harry is in when he first appears: I don't believe the diner is named at all.

Regarding custom infoboxes, I don't see an issue with adding them to Harry Potter Wiki:Userboxes, unless they're very specific to the person who created them. Infoboxes related to the wiki, Harry Potter, or traits and interests likely to be shared by more than one user should be fine. If the userbox list gets too crowded, then we can divide it into several thematic subpages, as is done on Wikipedia. ★ Starstuff(Owl me!) 14:00, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
i might have meant charlie, in the first book when ron said he had bill/charlie's old wand, the unicorn hair was sticking out.
found it, first book, page 100
ron: "I've got Bill's old robes and Charlie's old wand..."
and then on page 105
ron: "Unicorn hair's nearly poking out. anyway..."
Our policy covering such matters reads Titles are not to be used in an article's title. Of the ones you mention, Mrs Cole and Mrs Scower can be moved to Cole and Scower respectively without problems. The Masons and the Roberts may be a little trickier, requiring the use of their titles to differentiate them. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 00:01, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
I've noticed that too. I'll take a look at it and try and see what the problem is.--Matoro183(Talk) 12:59, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks! I used to know how to do it but then I forgot. How did you know that I kept doing it the slow way? --MargiechocoholicOwl me! 07:55, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
First book, last chapter Ron says:
The points are all in and Slytherin won, of course -- you missed the last
Quidditch match, we were steamrollered by Ravenclaw without you.
So I'm really confused :D Ron said that Slytherin won. But which competition?
He was maybe talking about the house championchip - Slytherin was leader at these time
(until Dumbledore gave points to Griffindor) However maybe he is talking about Quidditch
competition and Quidditch points.
Second book, 7th chapter Oliver Wood says:
"Now, listen here, you lot," he said, glowering at them all. "We
should have won the Quidditch cup last year. We're easily the best
team. But unfortunately -owing to circumstances beyond our control -
Harry shifted guiltily in his seat. He had been unconscious in the
hospital wing for the final match of the previous year, meaning that
Gryffindor had been a player short and had suffered their worst
defeat in three hundred years.
If Griffindor had suffered their worst defeat in 3 hundred years, Ravenclaw had to obtain a
great many of Quidditch points...
I think that we can eliminate Hufflepuff because in the 3rd book (9th chapter)
it is described as the weakest team. "I don't know why you're worried, Oliver,
Hufflepuff is a pushover."(so hufflepuff couldn't win in first year)
2nd book 11th chapter Percy says: "Oh, hello, Harry," he said. "Excellent flying yesterday, really
excellent. Gryffindor has just taken the lead for the House Cup you
earned fifty points!"
Let me know if you find out something :D(Sorry for my english I am from Slovakia:D)
Hey Nick, you were asking about the Voldemort image. Here is the full version, as you can see it needs to be cropped because of the watermark in the bottom right hand corner. Feel free to play around with it if you like
Hey Nick I have a question. I've talked to both Matoro and Seth about this but they don't know what's goin on. As of, probably a couple months ago now I am no longer able to edit a certain section of an article anymore. I have to hit that "Edit this page" button and find the section I want to edit. Do you have any idea why this is happening? Thanks for the help!! -- T.J. (talk) 13:53, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
That's all right. Thanks anyway. -- T.J. (talk) 13:01, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
I'd go with six months since some of the editors on the list may be long time contributors that haven't edited for several months due to personal reasons. However, those that have just edited a couple of pages and nothing else can be removed without a problem I feel. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 13:57, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the heads up :-). It might be worth having an admin give semi-protection to those articles for a time to stop it if it keeps up. Grunny(Talk) 07:35, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
yeah, I guess we'll just have to make sure we catch it all and revert it then :). Grunny(Talk) 07:42, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
Hiya Nick, congrats on joining Huffelpuff, even if it was out of pity. I was planning on putting my name forth to be considerd as a Hufflpuff prefect for when the new terms begins. The house needs two prefects to have a fair chance of winning the cup, so, would you be interested as well? Jayden Matthews 11:21, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Starstuff has said I can be a prefect without receiving the badge before hand due to the lack of interset in Hufflepuff house. Seeing as you have over three thousand edits I'm sure it would be ok for you to be a prefect as well. Do you want to ask Starstuff? Jayden Matthews 14:48, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
It would be a good idea to remove inactive users from the participants list before the next round starts. ★ Starstuff(Owl me!) 12:54, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
I think the criteria you've proposed are very reasonable. Feel free to work them into the existing policy page (perhaps under the "Joining" section). ★ Starstuff(Owl me!) 17:43, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
Thanks so much for going through the participants list. In the last round, I set up and managed the mechanics of the game on my own, so it's nice to have helping hands this time, which should make the game run more smoothly.
Jayden - I'm sorry to hear about his loss. If Jayden would really like to keep his position as a Prefect, then Hufflepuff can manage with just Profiteor until he gets back, but if he figures he may be away for longer than the length of the term, then we should probably find someone to fill his place.
Hufflepuff and Slytherin - Hufflepuff and Slytherin had the least members last time around so I can kind of expected it to happen again. Your idea to try to boost participation is a good one.
Inactive Prefects - Since Hellabore hasn't edited in two months, we'll need to find someone to take his place, unless we hear from him soon. As for Oread and Jayce, they've both edited sporadically in the last couple of weeks, so I'm hoping they'll be able to stay on board for the second round.
Your idea for a condelences card is good. I especially like the design you've come up with. I wouldn't mind helping you put it together. ★ Starstuff(Owl me!) 18:09, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
I created a beta version of the card at User:Starstuff/Condolences. The character names are there to give a full idea of how the layout looks. I could turn this into a template, like Template:Birthday, but that would be more complex, and I'm not sure how I'd work in a signature function. It would probably be easier to simply copy the table code directly to Jayden's talk page. ★ Starstuff(Owl me!) 18:51, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
I don't mind the changes at all. I think it looks better that way. Should I delete the version in my userspace? ★ Starstuff(Owl me!) 15:41, September 1, 2009 (UTC)
I'm going to move the card out of my own userspace and turn it into a template. As for building templates, I'm not exactly an expert at it, either. Most of the templates I have created have been made by copying code from existing templates. ★ Starstuff(Owl me!) 17:22, September 1, 2009 (UTC)
Q- I was wondering if you know of a way in which I can see a list of all the pages that I have created, not edited but actually created. Is it possible? Patr0nus (Expecto Patronum!) 16:20, September 1, 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for helping to find misplaced forum threads. Adding "{{Forumheader|The Wizengamot}}" or "{{Forumheader|Help Desk}}" to a page automatically adds a navigational header to the top of that page and lists it in the applicable category. As for forum threads that have posted in the wrong place (e.g., in article space, on a talk page, etc.), these can be relocated to forum space by moving the page to "Forum:Whatever," then adding one of the aforementioned header templates. I'm not sure if the ability to move pages into forum space is open to non-admins, though, as I don't recall ever trying to do so when I was a non-admin. ★ Starstuff(Owl me!) 11:44, September 2, 2009 (UTC)

Would you please explain why did you replace three articles about coins with redirects to the article Wizarding currency? I'm mostly active in the Russian HPWiki, so I may not know about local criterions here, but I haven't discovered any discussion on the appropriate talk page. Also, please take into account that I didn't want to split the main article or somehow touch it, I only wanted to create three separate articles. Thanks, --Microcell 18:34, September 3, 2009 (UTC)
Hey Nick O'Demus. I just wanted to say I think it's really stand-upish of you to make that condoloences card for User:Jayden Matthews. I'm sure he will really appreciate it. Who did he lose, does anyone know? –K.A.J•T•C•E• 10:05, September 4, 2009 (UTC)

His brother? I hadn't known until now. As KAJ pointed out, it's awful to lose anyone, but with close family it's even more so. ★ Starstuff(Owl me!) 22:42, September 4, 2009 (UTC)
We haven't heard back from Hellabore regarding the House Points Game. Do you think it's time to look for someone to take his place as Gryffindor Prefect? ★ Starstuff(Owl me!) 22:46, September 4, 2009 (UTC)
Hey Nick, I was just wondering if we have all the Prefects we need for the next House Point Game. If you and Starstuff need any help I'd be happy to help. --Profiteor 02:09, September 5, 2009 (UTC)
OK, sounds good ... if my option matters at all, Margiechocoholic would be an excellent Prefect for Gryffindor.
Yes if you saw the message Jayden left on my talk page he just need a bit more time which is fine. Jayden proposed starting a Hufflepuff Quidditch Team but due to the lack of numbers I think it will have to wait I think It will be very easy task to keep up with Prefect duties. If you have any ideas that would be wonderful.
For Ravenclaw, if Oread can't stay as a Prefect I know You-Know-Who is a great user and contributor.
Yes I heard Jayce couldn't say its very unfortunate but Starstuff is great so I think it will be cool.
Again thanks for the update --Profiteor 02:33, September 5, 2009 (UTC)

Hey Nick. I'm not sure if you know this or not, but Jayden's brothers funeral is next friday and Profiteor and myself discussed maybe holding a minute of silence as a mark of respect. What do you think. Jayce•Avada Kedavra•Crucio•Imperio• 15:55, September 5, 2009 (UTC)
That's actually a very good idea. Profiteor has already asked Starstuff about the one minute thing, so you may wish to put you idea to her. Jayce•Avada Kedavra•Crucio•Imperio• 16:16, September 5, 2009 (UTC)
Hi, I have a question to ask. What happens when you move your user page? Does your username
change or does it still remain the same? I'm just curious about it, and I dare not try anything.
Hi i was going down ur talk page and i went over a moment of silence for jayden and i think it is a great idea as he is a friend of mine i think he will respect me and his other friends doing it so can u tell me when it is please
thanks jayden must apreciate this

I'm sorry for the late reply. I'm going away from tomorrow until the 12th, and though I'd hoped I could put in more time into setting up the House Points Game before leaving, I've been so busy with packing and making other arrangements that I haven't really had any time to spend online.
I agree with you that Margiechocoholic is an ideal choice for Gryffindor Prefect. It would be great if you'd ask her. If for some reason she can't take on the role, then Yatanogarasu and GrouchMan also identify as Gryffindors, have over 500 edits, and have been active recently.
As for Oread, I think we should wait until Thursday the 10th, to give her a little more time to reply. But if we don't hear from her by that time, then You-Know-Who, Rodolphus, and ShirleyA are most the users most qualified to fill her position.
I asked Smonocco if he'd like to take over for Jayce as the second Slytherin Prefect, but he had to decline, due to time commitments.
One way to help offset the uneven House membership would be to form House alliances. A House with more members would ally with a House with less members in order to help compensate for the latter's disadvantage. I'm thinking Gryffindor-Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw-Slytherin. Points would not be pooled together, but manpower would, as it's difficult for a team to carry out collaborative work when they've only got three or four active members. Any points earned by a Hufflepuff player under this scheme would go to Hufflepuff, rather than being split between Hufflepuff and Gryffindor, but the alliance with Gryffindor would ultimately help the Hufflepuff team earn more points, by making it easier for Hufflepuff players to make progress on collaborative projects.
Last round I suggested players could collaborate on improving the articles on the Hogwarts founders and their respective Houses. Maybe the Gryffindor-Hufflepuff alliance could take Gryffindor/Godric Gryffindor to start and Ravenclaw-Slytherin could take Ravenclaw/Rowena Ravenclaw?
I'm really thankful for all your help in setting up the House Points Game. Would you mind being in charge while I'm away? ★ Starstuff(Owl me!) 12:52, September 7, 2009 (UTC)
I'm still on vacation, but I've got a laptop, and I promised myself that I would change over the Featured Article and Selected Picture on the main page on time so that we wouldn't have to change the schedules yet again. Thanks once more for staying on top of the HPG. We can go over our ideas when I get back on the 12th, but that is cutting close to the starting date, so if it comes down to it, we can postpone the starting date by a few days to ensure that have enough time to get everything ready. ★ Starstuff(Owl me!) 16:42, September 10, 2009 (UTC)
Regarding Matoro183 or You-Know-Who, it's a tough call. Matoro183 has been on the site longer and You-Know-Who has been more active recently, but since both experience and regular activity are things we look for in Prefects, I think we should ask both at the same time, ★ Starstuff(Owl me!) 17:06, September 11, 2009 (UTC)
Hey! Thanks for asking me, I would love to become a prefect for Gryffindor. Just a quick question though, does the term go on for three months (would it finish on the 15th of December)? I am looking forward to it though. Hopefully you won't mind me coming to you with questions. Thanks, MargiechocoholicOwl me! 06:54, September 8, 2009 (UTC)
Maybe an announcement on the site notice? What time should the moment of silence take place? -- Seth Cooperowl post! 23:48, September 10, 2009 (UTC)
[...]While we may come from different places and speak in different tongues, our hearts beat as one. As some of you may already know, Jayden Matthews's brother's funeral takes place this Friday, September 11th. As such, some of the people here at the HPW who have worked with Jayden ask the community to observe a simple moment of silence on this date and to sign the condolences card set up on Jayden's talk page. Thank you.
Thanks for all your help in regards to the House Points Game, and for organising condolences for Jayden Matthews. I'm surprised no-one has given you this, so I'm proud to award you...

Before the release of book 6, JKR was asked about Snape´s blood status, and she stated that, in rare cases, muggle-borns can be Death Eaters. You can read it here.
Voldemort also wanted to have Harry´s mother as a Death Eater despite her status. You can read it here..

OK, I looked for about an hour checking different guides and such to see any reference some of these names ... and found nothing. --Profiteor 22:01, September 14, 2009 (UTC)
I did get back on the 12th, as expected, but due to computer issues I couldn't get back online until today. I see you've postponed the HPG starting date. Thanks again for all the work you've put into this and I'm sorry I wasn't able to be here to help get it set up on time. ★ Starstuff(Owl me!) 21:06, September 15, 2009 (UTC)
I only own the Half-Blood Prince game for PS3, and, at the moment, do not know of any regular contributor who has played the DS version.
I'm guessing that Christian Serrano is the same person as 77.224.18.227. Back in July, this IP created several articles on characters from the DS version of the HBP game, which also featured difficult to understand English text apparently the result of a flawed Babelfish translation (see this forum post).
I found a video review of the game on YouTube, and at 1:20 in it, you see a dialogue bubble with the name "Fay Dunbar," so it seems the characters are legitimate. ★ Starstuff(Owl me!) 22:14, September 15, 2009 (UTC)
I picked up a copy of HBP for DS a couple of days ago because I had a coupon for $15 off any Nintendo product. The number of original characters in this game is very high: I'm only about a quarter of the way through the game, and I've already met over 50student NPCs, and seen another 50-or-so new names in the mini-game tournament lists. Also, the names of the players on the national teams from the Quidditch World Cup game are printed on Chocolate Frog Cards, so I'll try to get those up as well. ★ Starstuff(Owl me!) 22:31, September 23, 2009 (UTC)
I think it might be difficult for us to arrange a round table discussion time that worked for everyone due to time zone differences. If we want to try, though, we've got TimeandDate.com and WorldTimeZone.com to help us figure out the best time. Margie is in Australia (GMT+10), I'm on the west coast of Canada (GMT-7), but I'm not sure about you or Profiteor. It would be nice if we could arrange it so that the discussion time fell somewhere between 6AM to 9PM for everybody. It might ultimately be simpler to share our ideas in a regular discussion thread, though, as one of us would probably end up having to log on at an inconvenient time to participate in a real-time discussion. ★ Starstuff(Owl me!) 21:44, September 17, 2009 (UTC)
Edit classification: This is a good idea. I'd also suggest setting point ranges, like 1 to 5 for "minor," 5 to 15 for "medium," and 15+ for "major."
House alliances: The "Quidditch team" system was a good idea, but, as you pointed out, it was not workable for Houses with less than seven active members. When I suggested Gryffindor-Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw-Slytherin as the house alliances, I didn't just take offsetting the uneven membership into consideration, but also the compatibility of the Houses with each other, based on the traits and values presented in the books. I suppose canonical House relationships don't really effect members of this wiki, though, because it's not like our Gryffindors and our Slytherins refuse to work together. As to the possibility of a Hufflepuff-Slytherin alliance, I like this idea, and I think it could work.
Deducting points: I think the option of deducting points needs to remain in place in order for the code of conduct to carry weight. Without the possibility of players being penalized, the rules against copying, put-downs, etc. are kind of toothless. I don't foresee many, if any, points being deducted this round, but I think we need to keep the option available, in case somebody does something against the code of conduct.
I went ahead and added some point amount guidelines based on your suggestions to the HPG policy page. Please let me know if you have any thoughts on how these new guidelines could be improved. ★ Starstuff(Owl me!) 23:42, September 19, 2009 (UTC)
I also opened the new term of the game at 00:00 September 20 as planned. Do you think we should start a thread in the Wizengamot Forum to allow the community to discuss the House alliances proposal? ★ Starstuff(Owl me!) 00:57, September 20, 2009 (UTC)
I'm sorry to have to find someone to take over Oread's position, but now that the new term is under way, I think we need as many active Prefects as possible. I also think it would be best for the House alliance discussion to be held in the Wizengamot forum. Each HPG common room is to be used only by House members, excepting Prefects (who can post notices), and this make it impossible for players from all Houses to participate in a single discussion. ★ Starstuff(Owl me!) 03:39, September 20, 2009 (UTC)
No, not really. =) More of a coincidence. I thought those articles already existed, since Bulgeye Potion already existed. I noticed they didn't yesterday. -- Seth Cooperowl post! 09:46, September 21, 2009 (UTC)
Harry, Hermione and Ron never use the tent Bill Weasley lends them, not even for one night. The morning they leave shell cottage is the same day they break into gringotts and then escape on the dragon afterwards. They're on the dragon till around sunset, then Harry has his vision and they rush straight to Hogsmeade and not long after to Hogwarts though the Hog's Head passageway.
