Hey JaleSwiftpaw!

I was wondering if you could tell me how you make those gif files where a scene from the movie is played on a loop i.e. on Bombarda, Bombarda Maxima, and Regeneration potion. There really cool, and really make the wiki a lot better. I have all the movies saved on my computer, so if accessing scenes from the film is something I need to do it won't be a problem. Thanks!

The process I do is quite extensive, but once you have the hang of it it's simple. First, I have all movies ripped as AVI (DivX/XviD) files so I can manipulate them on computer. Then I use a program called VirtualDub, which is a (mostly) AVI editor and conversion program. You can convert the frames directly to GIF, but I wasn't happy with the quality, so I extract the frames into an uncompressed AVI file, load these frames in Photoshop and export these frames as GIF. Just a few things to keep in mind:
  • GIF must be 256 colors (no transparency), 250x188 @ 8 fps.
  • It must be short (few seconds, no longer than 15 seconds).
  • It must have diffusion dithering to somewhat improve quality.
If you want the simple method, just extract the frames as GIF directly from VirtualDub. I hope these tips helped.
