I believe I know what is happening. Are you typing the title of the post you wish to start into the text bar above the button? If not, you will recieve the "bad title" message because, as far as the wiki is concerned, you are trying to create a page without a title. Type the name of the thread you wish to start into the open text box, then click on "Add new topic". This will take you to a page where you can create the post you want.
