Horcrux FAEdit

I think I will take you on at trying to make all of he Horcrux article FAs. I myself haven't been on much lately, so I need something to keep my mind on before the mass of editing from the film publicity by wikia. Thanks. (P.S., I have just created this page from the redirect from your third talk archive. I didn't want to disturb it. Hope you don't mind.)--L.V.K.T.V.J.Hogwarts(Send an owl!) 20:52, October 23, 2010 (UTC)

Boots Edit

Hey, so I was going through some of user 72.229.249.242's edits/new pages, and I was thinking about "Boots", as boots is not listed anywhere on the "Hogwarts uniform" article I'm not sure that's the best redirect (which is where the article stands currently). As video games definitely aren't my area of expertise (with the exception of Lego HP), I'm not 100% where to proceed with this. This website (http://www.gamefaqs.com/gbc/565542-harry-potter-and-the-sorceres-stone/faqs/30967) lists 3 different types of "boots". So the questions I Have are 1) Does this warrant an article. 2) Should there be 3 separate article for each type of boots. 3)Should this simply redirect to the video game article. 4) Should there be one article to cover all three boots (possibly the same with belts). What do you think? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 14:25, October 25, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Delete Edit

Right, sorry-- I'll definitely do that. --Emmy () 01:22, October 27, 2010 (UTC)

Increasing our online visibility Edit

With the recent rise in new users and contributions that has been the direct result of the current Wizarding World Giveaway, I would like us to consider increasing our visibility within the HP fan community. To this end, I am tabling the following actions for consideration:

  1. The creation of some type of "affiliates program" where we can maintain links to other HP related sites and they can link back to us through mutual agreement.
  2. The setting up of an official HPW twitter feed that all administrators would be able to access and post through (or designate a member of the admin team to use).
  3. Setting up a Facebook "fan page".

The HP community on the Internet is massive, and I think we could benefit from a higher profile. As you well know, I am against turning the site into some type of social network/forum, and I don't plan for that to change. I think that by maintaining these resources off site will allow us to better channel those users who want to engage in such activities away from the wiki and into more appropriate places. For instance, the FB fan page can be used as a social forum and image host, which will allow us to direct users there instead of dealing with them on site. Thoughts? - Cavalier OneGryffindorcrest(Wizarding Wireless Network) 13:03, November 18, 2010 (UTC)

We Need Your Help For An Article About Harry Potter Wiki! Edit

Hiya, Harry Potter Wiki has been getting a lot of attention thanks to the Wizarding World Giveaway and the Deathly Hallows premiere, and now a reporter from Yahoo! Please help us promote the wiki by posting your expert review on the Review Page immediately... we need the reviews by 7am tomorrow morning PST. This is a HUGE opportunity to promote the wiki and everyone's hard work here.

Please post your review in the comments on the Review Page using this format if you're interested in being featured in an article and helping spread the word about Harry Potter Wiki:

What did you do to celebrate the HP premiere?

Did you like the film? Why or why not?

Facebook and Twitter Edit

Okay, our official Facebook fan page and Twitter feed are up! Any SysOps who want admin access to either should let me know through the email function; the FB can have admins, while I will provide the Twitter log-in details to you (it is set up on a separate HPW exclusive account). Links are on the main page as well. - Cavalier OneGryffindorcrest(Wizarding Wireless Network) 12:36, November 22, 2010 (UTC)

re:hey Edit

I actually haven't seen the movie yet (gasp I know) I'm waiting till things die down a bit at the theatre, I hate crowds, but from all the pics I've seen I agree with you, the way they are dressed is reminiscent of the Nazi uniforms/attire. I wonder if that was done intentionally or accidentally. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 20:53, November 26, 2010 (UTC)

That's so cool, can't wait to see it, I definitely think it warrants mention in the ministry article. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 21:14, November 26, 2010 (UTC)

Sorry Edit

Sorry if I caused trouble, I'm only trying to help. In my defence, it's impossible to distinguish sysops/crats from regular users...perhaps a hilite could be added to their signatures through the global CSS? —The preceding signed comment was added by Real (talkcontribs) whenever he felt like it. 12:00, November 27, 2010 (UTC)

re:talk page comments Edit

Hi, Ummm, I'm not entirely sure I understand what you are saying, so instead of editing an existing discussion page for an article and adding a new topic, unreg users are creating an entirely new talk page? Is there still a page somewhere to see newly created pages? I remember on the old skin (that I miss oh so much) there was a side bar app thingy you could add that showed you new pages created.......hmmmm..... Do you have an example of what you are talking about so I can understand better? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 20:44, November 28, 2010 (UTC)

Ok, I see, have you been to this page before? New Articles....... I see the example you are referring to listed here also, and when you click on it, it brings you to the comment..... Helpful? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 20:51, November 28, 2010 (UTC)

I should add, just in case, I changed the drop down menu to show just the new "talk" articles in order to see the pages you were talking about. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 20:56, November 28, 2010 (UTC)

Are you using the new wikia look? I seem to recall seeing a speech bubble that didn't seem to serve a purpose, but since being utterly frustrated with the new look I've since converted to monobook, although I can't stand the way you add categories using monobook, other then that I prefer it now to the new look. Oh so funny thing which only someone else who edits on this wikia would truly find humorous (as opposed to my husband), I'm american yet since editing on here with British terminology and spelling, I find myself sounding more and more British with each edit, lol, my husband caught me saying "bugger" and "spot on" earlier, I totally didn't realise I had done it lol! --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 21:11, November 28, 2010 (UTC)
I hope you don't mind me butting in. Those speech bubbles just show how many edits have been made to the talk page, and the link to said talk pages should be right next to the bubble. --Cubs Fan (Talk to me) 21:34, November 28, 2010 (UTC)

LV's soul Edit

Hey, could you clear something up for me, in the King's Cross article, under 1998, it says that the thing Harry sees represents 1/7 of LV's soul, I realise that that technically there was only 6 horcruxes around at the same time (By the time LV made Nagini, the Diary was destroyed) but at some point that still made 7 horcruxes in existence right? Adding in the piece of soul within LV, doesn't that mean that his soul was in 8 pieces. The whole splitting soul thing kinda confuses me, I mean if you cut a cookie into 8 parts, even after you eat a part the remaining still represent 7/8 of the original whole....... Do you see where I'm confused? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 20:23, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

Ok, I get it now, cool :-) Thanks --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 20:36, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

RE:Low Res ImagesEdit

I would say in this cases we can use good sense to discern which images stay and which don't. For instance, File:Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald.JPG is very low quality but as it is clear enough to make out (and, at the current time, the best resolution we can hope for) it is "usable". As for images like this one which are not clear and really do not add anything to the article, it is better not to use them. Which Gringotts image are you referring to, specifically? This one? Well, I do think it deserves being showcased in an article as it is clear enough [one can make out the destroyed chandeliers (in the upper center), pieces of the roof (center, the golden arches among the rubble) and collapsed wooden guichets (far right/left)] and it presents a visual depiction of the trio's escape. --  Seth Cooper  owl post! 21:29, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

LOTR Horcrux comparisonEdit

First of all, this is Planet-man828. I forgot that I used to use a different account here and have reverted back to it.

Anyway, I think drawing the line there is fairly arbitrary, but won't press the issue or add more. I would like to clean up up the paragraph that's already there though, so heads up if you wanna take a look at it. --Paraknight 09:04, November 30, 2010 (UTC)

Apparate Edit

Sorry, that I didn't know. I thought in the middle of a sentence it had to be written small. Good to know for the future! Harry granger 19:40, November 30, 2010 (UTC)

Voting Edit

Thank you for clarifying that for me. :) Severus Riddle 14:41, December 2, 2010 (UTC)

Locket Edit

It's a bad answer : Reducto and Reductor Curse are the same page so the link was perfectly correct (the link was not towards Reducio as you pretend, you can check). You have replaced Expulso by Blasting Curse, I'm really doubtfull because here, it's not the same spell, it was not written Confringo. Interwiki links should be a fact more interesting for admins than "clean up links" that don't need to be cleaned: redirections exist on wikia to help people. --   Famini    talk    contribs   17:12, December 2, 2010 (UTC)

New Look Edit

I hate it too. You can always switch over to monobook, as I have done. Jayden Matthews 18:07, December 2, 2010 (UTC)

Re:CommentsEdit

There is, so far as I know, no way to automatically move a comment to an article talk page. If you wanted, you could cut-and-paste the comment text onto a talk page with an unsigned tag, then delete the original comment. It would probably also be helpful to leave the anon a note about where their comment has been moved.

I find the new layout aesthetically pleasing but much more difficult to navigate when editing. Starstuff (Owl me!) 18:16, December 2, 2010 (UTC)

When an article first loads, where the "talk" link is located, it briefly says "comment." If you click that link in time, it opens a comment box at the very bottom of the page, below the two square ads. It seems that the "comment" link has been programmed to disappear, but people seem to catch it in time to leave comments. Starstuff (Owl me!) 18:30, December 2, 2010 (UTC)

re:park Edit

That makes sense. I still haven't seen it yet, I'm hoping to this weekend (keep your fingers crossed, lol). --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 18:53, December 2, 2010 (UTC)

Re: PolicyEdit

It would make the most sense to note proper source formatting under the "Sources" section of the Layout Guide. If you want to add such an explanation, I don't see why it should be an issue. Your proposed change to a policy page would simply be recording a rule that's already in place, so it wouldn't require it first be approved by a vote. Starstuff (Owl me!) 19:27, December 2, 2010 (UTC)

Percy Weasley Edit

Sorry but I thought it would be best to edit this page considering that the name given is wrong. 'Percy' is a nickname used in the novels, not an actual birth name. Percy's real name is Percival, though not used often. It states this in 'Order of the Phoenix' when Harry is being tried by the Wizengamot. Fudge reads off everyone's full names. 'Percy's' name is stated as: Percival Ignatius Weasley (court scribe at the time).

DuelsEdit

I'd say selection criteria would be relevance within the particular conflict. The Duel in the Ministry Atrium, for instance, was of huge significance to History (resulting on the Ministry's recognition that Voldemort was indeed back). The duel between Bellatrix and Molly, as kick-ass character moment it may be, it was not very relevant to the conclusion of the battle or the war. --  Seth Cooper  owl post! 13:29, December 3, 2010 (UTC)

Comments Edit

The comments section was enable to allow users to respond to the Wizarding World Giveaway. When it was turned on, it caused all pages to display comments sections instead of talk page links. Grunny fixed this by altering the site's .js to recreate the link and eliminate the comments sections on all but that one page, but anons and those without javascript enabled still see the comments sections. There's no automatic way to delete the comment, but typing http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Talk:Article name/@comment username-somenumbers?redirect=no&action=delete and replacing "Talk:Article name/@comment username-somenumbers" with the page name of the comment should bring you to the delete page. Now that the contest is over, though, I've requested Staff to turn the feature off permanently. - Cavalier OneGryffindorcrest(Wizarding Wireless Network) 17:26, December 3, 2010 (UTC)

RE:UmbridgeEdit

It's ok. I'll keep an eye on it. --  Seth Cooper  owl post! 16:12, December 4, 2010 (UTC)

Bellatrix's abilities Edit

If you don't like "amazing" being written in Bellatrix's duelling skills section then would "exceptional" be acceptable? After all that has been written in Albus Dumbledore and Lord Voldemort's articles and Bellatrix is an exceptional duellist and displayed her skills on numerous occassions.Powerstaark 19:24, December 5, 2010 (UTC)

Tom Riddle Edit

Tom is the shortened name for Thomas. All my friends name that are Tom there full name is Thomas. AznPride112 02:57, December 6, 2010 (UTC)

Well I'm sorry for making the edit. I just though since Tom was short for Thomas that his name would be Thomas.

Wotcher! Edit

Hey, do you know what is up with the "read more" sections that are appearing at the bottom of articles, it's not something that can be edited...... --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 15:47, December 6, 2010 (UTC)

Re: CafeEdit

I think using the name from the video game is fine because no higher canon source contradicts it. Yes, the street it's on may have changed from that in the book, but it's still the same café, plot-wise.

In the film, Hermione Apparates them onto Shaftsbury Avenue, but then leads them into an alley to redress. Then it cuts straight to the interior of the cafe, leaving the possibility that the café was on a different street.

In the PS3 version of the game, you Apparate onto Shaftsbury Avenue (Hermione tells you so), but the café is actually down a side street that runs to the right off of it. Starstuff (Owl me!) 16:10, December 7, 2010 (UTC)

Fanon warning Edit

Hmm, I understand that everybody can give a warning to anybody, but, why was I exactly given the warning in the first place? --Auror. plus the great Andrachome 06:00, December 11, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, but you're not understanding that I undid the edit. The warning was not needed, and I still don't understand why I need the warning. --Auror. plus the great Andrachome 06:45, December 11, 2010 (UTC)

RE: DA Edit

Do you mean about the foreign language meanings? Perhaps changing at least that part of it to something like the Stunning_Spell#Stupefy_in_different_languages would be better. - Nick O'Demus 07:36, December 12, 2010 (UTC)

If you look at the Slytherin page, there is a separate section for the different languages at the bottom, set up like a table. Also, do you know why Sleeping Beauty page has been added to the articles for deletion? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 13:56, December 12, 2010 (UTC)
Has he said why he feels that way? I mean the only muggle fairy tales listed are referenced in the books so it's not as if there isn't a legitimate reason for there being articles on them. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 16:41, December 12, 2010 (UTC)

food and creature boxes Edit

What do you think for: Salmon, Haddock, Sardine, and Trout? -- —The preceding unsigned comment was added by BachLynn23 (talkcontribs) 18:32, December 17, 2010.

Dark Arts Edit

Hey, while you are around, I had a couple of questions about the Dark Arts page I was wondering if you could clear up for me.... :-) First off there's a picture of Polyjuice potion on the page, but I do not see polyjuice potion listed as a dark potion. So if it's not a dark potion I'm thinking the picture should be removed, and if it is a dark potion then shouldn't anyone known to have brewed it be listed as known practitioners of the dark arts (i.e. Hermione and Moody). Also, on the talk page there was discussion as to whether Harry and Dolores warranted being listed, the way the talk page was left I thought it was left they shouldn't be. Now Harry probably should, I'm a little unclear why Umbridge is, I mean she only almost used crucio, when she sent the dementors after Harry they were technically under ministry control, and if the blood quill constituted as dark arts, then shouldn't the quill be listed on the page? Also didn't Minerva use Imperio on the Carrow twins in the Ravenclaw tower? Oh, and when did Dumbledore use dark arts? -- —The preceding unsigned comment was added by BachLynn23 (talkcontribs) 18:40, December 17, 2010.

Mr Mortimer Edit

Hey Hcoknhoj. Could you please have a word with Mr Mortimer. He continues to add images of Richard Trinder's Death Eater to Augustus Rookwood's article, despite being reverted several times. Thanks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jayden Matthews (talkcontribs) 17:03, December 18, 2010.

Harry Potter Film Wizardry Edit

One quick question. I recently was given the book Harry Potter Film Wizardry, and I would like to know if the information in it is considered canon for new articles, seeing as it's not written by J. K. Rowling, herself. There are many pictures of props used in the films like Weasley's Wizard Wheezes products, several of which do not have articles. Please respond, —The preceding unsigned comment was added by NevilleismyHERO (talkcontribs) 00:22, December 20, 2010.

Thanks. I'll go ahead and start making articles then. NimH 19:39, December 20, 2010 (UTC)

Lovely. Thank you. NimH 20:27, December 20, 2010 (UTC)

Can do. Thanks for the reminder. NimH 20:31, December 20, 2010 (UTC)

Film Wizardry Edit

I would say it would be on par with the films; it has to be an official licensed product to use the images and name, but I do not know whether or not JKR has any involvement in it. I don't have the book, so this is only my understanding from what I've read about it, but I think it would be fine to use unless any information to the contrary arises. - —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Cavalier One (talkcontribs) 09:46, December 20, 2010.

Exactly. I'd say the same thing. We know the images are from the films and props and we also know the filmmakers have had some input into it. I'd say it's second-tier canon. --  Seth Cooper  owl post! 17:28, December 20, 2010 (UTC)

New pages Edit

A bunch of new pages were just created by 109.59.22.74 and 109.56.207.64 that are supposedly from LEGO Harry Potter, but they seem a bit suspect. 12.51.4.122 12:53, December 21, 2010 (UTC)

Hey, was just checking out the new pages, I know for a fact that the heart regeneration, one shot spell, and fast spell are just cheats you can unlock. I don't recall the super stun at all, even as a cheat, Vomiting charm is most definitely not in the game, and I have the game both on xbox and handheld (psp). As far as the rootbeer slugs, I do recall in a behind the scenes disc (the one where that guy goes around interviewing everyone for a tv show and ended up with a small role in one of the films) that Rupert said something about the slugs he had to swallow were flavoured so they actually tasted good, but don't recall them saying root beer, I'll try and find the disc in a little bit, it's around here somewhere, assuming my dvd player works, lol! --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 13:12, December 21, 2010 (UTC)

Edit war Edit

Hey, there is an edit war going on over which Ravenclaw crest should be in the image box, I noticed there was a forum set up voting for it, and that the one with the eagle was winning, but I don't know if it was ever finalised or not, but the back and forth editing is getting a little old. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 13:05, December 23, 2010 (UTC)

RE:Jr.Edit

Oh, how I wish the editor had first brought the topic up on the article's talk page.... I guess we have to revert most of the edits: the books specifically say he took part in the attack (albeit undisclosing whether as an accomplice or as one of the main criminals - though it is highly implied the latter was the case). The film, as tier 2 canon, can be taken into consideration and as in it Karkaroff says he "know[s] for a fact [Barty] took part in the capture, and by means of the Cruciatus Curse, torture of the Auror Frank Longbottom and his wife" it is canon Barty did all of those things. --  Seth Cooper  owl post! 17:49, December 26, 2010 (UTC)

The edit I made on Tom Riddle about referring to him as Simply Voldemort. Is that okay ? Because MOST people who didn't fear the Dark Lord called him by Voldemort instead of Lord Voldemort. AznPride112 06:03, December 31, 2010 (UTC)

Moody's wand Edit

Sure, I'll add the source. Sorry I didn't do it earlier. Oh, and I couldn't help but notice your conversation with Seth earlier. Just so you know, the name "Thomas Marvolo Riddle" appears on one of the bottles in Dumbledore's Pensieve cabinet:) Jayden Matthews 11:10, December 31, 2010 (UTC)

BTW Edit

Hey, in the process of going through MoM departments and offices and such, I've noticed a discrepency in the usage of info boxes, some have none, some have location box, and some have organisation boxes, is there a rhyme or reason to any of this, or what ultimately should be the box used? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 19:48, December 31, 2010 (UTC)

Cool, I see what you mean, will keep it in mind, sometimes it's a little fuzzy which articles refer to a specific "office" and which articles refer to a "department/office" (like with office of misinformation and centaur liaison office) --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 20:20, December 31, 2010 (UTC)

RE:Office againEdit

I'd thought about that... I'm not so sure to do with those, though. Maybe redirect "Head of the Muggle-Born Registration Commission's office" to "Senior Undersecretary to the Minister for Magic's office" and add a section explaining that during Voldemort's puppet regime it also served as the office for the Head of the Comission? --  Seth Cooper  owl post! 20:16, December 31, 2010 (UTC)

Hello. Thank you for welcoming me to the wiki. Luna Lovegood is the best!!! ANX219 22:26, December 31, 2010 (UTC)

thank you :-) Edit

Thanks! I really do enjoy editing on here and helping you guys out! :-) --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 05:13, January 1, 2011 (UTC)

Minister and support staffEdit

Yea, you're right, totally agree, between Minister for Magic having its own article and with the navigation box at the bottom listing all of the Minister's we could probably take out the list of Minister's altogether, and rename the article to one of the two you suggested. I'm thinking if we are going to just focus on the support staff in the article it should be "Minister for Magic's Support Staff" because to say "Office of the Minister for Magic" still could imply that it's also about the Minster....--BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 05:40, January 1, 2011 (UTC)

True, and me personally I could go with either title, but my only thought with going with the Office one is that as the reference is technically "American", and this site is British, would it still be appropriate (I'm not saying it isn't, just that it should be considered). --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 05:45, January 1, 2011 (UTC)
Looks good, actually I was just about to message you and tell you that when I got yours, ummmm, reworking the nav template, ok must be tired because I feel like I should know what you mean, but my eyes are glaving over and my brain is ceasing to function, lol, the nav template for the Ministers and support staff? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 05:58, January 1, 2011 (UTC)
Right right, k, I'm with you now (mostly), here's the question though, that particular navigation template came from chopping down the large {{Ministry employees}} into a couple of smaller ones for the Ministers/support staff and one for aurors (I've been toying with the idea to do smaller boxes for each department, not sure yet), so if I take the Ministers off from that Nav {{Minister and support staff}} and rename and such, should I do another separate nav template for just Ministers? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 06:08, January 1, 2011 (UTC)
Sweet (7500!!!), it is so weird to think about how just like 6 months ago I was scared to edit something and risk screwing things up, and now I'm over 7500 edits! So I'm gonna hit the sack, I'll work on making the changes to the templates we've discussed in the morning...Good night! :-) --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 06:20, January 1, 2011 (UTC)

Games and Sports Edit

Happy New Year!!! So not that I need any more projects right now, but I was going through some articles and noticed that there are quite a few sports or game related articles but no specific info box for them (not that I found at least), and was wondering if this is something that would be worthwhile to have, what do you think? Oh, and I made some of the changes to the nav boxes that we talked about last night....--BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 16:03, January 1, 2011 (UTC)

GregAwesome Edit

Well, I noticed that one of GregAwesome's followed pages was my userpage, so I reread my page, and I didn't notice anything different, so I went on his talkpage, and saw that you left a message saying that he vandalised my page. What did he do, exactly? Mace170 00:15, January 2, 2011 (UTC)

Oh...thanks. Mace170 14:01, January 2, 2011 (UTC)

Professors' houses Edit

I think I have found a hint to Sinistra being a Ravenclaw. Could you please have another look on the forum? Perhaps it's worth a mention in the BTS setion.--Rodolphus 09:32, January 3, 2011 (UTC)

Fanon/offensive article Edit

Hey, there's a problem user vandalising pages and creating bad articles (see: AyrtonLOSERsenna). I gave him a warning on his talk page, but when looking at his contribs, he had also made bad edits back in December which were reverted but he was never warned for. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 16:51, January 3, 2011 (UTC)

Project Edit

Hi, so just wanted to touch base with you, I was looking at the Hogwarts Castle article today and noticed that it had a "needs to be cleaned up" tag, so I thought I'd tackle that, do you know if anyone else is working on it? At the same time I thought maybe I'd come up with some Nav templates to go along with it, something for each floor showing all the locations and portraits and such on each floor, I've started by going through all of the Hogwarts location articles, and am beginning to realise this may be a larger project then I first realised (lol), I'm writing up notes right now (questions will follow in the next day or so), I've noticed that some articles give conflicting information, and I have a feeling that part of that is because of locations changing between books and movies and video games, but not all of the articles reflect BTS sections explaining this. Right now I'm thinking nav templates for: Grounds, Below Ground, ground floor, 1st fl, 2nd fl, 3rd fl, 4th fl, 5th fl, 6th fl, 7th fl and Locations of unknown position in Hogwarts. I've also realised that those may not be enough per say, for instance there's the Towers that connect at multiple levels, and various staircases and corridors that connect floors, so I'm not sure where those should fit in if I do nav templates, what are your thoughts? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 01:35, January 6, 2011 (UTC)

re:skills Edit

I totally agree with you, there's one thing to mention someone's skills, but the adjectives are getting out of control! I was thinking maybe we should come together with some sort of general agreement what "titles" should be used in the skills sections and what denotes those titles being used. I mean everyone may have some skills in something but does it warrant mention, and if so, to what extreme. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 19:32, January 7, 2011 (UTC)

Book titles Edit

Hey, are the page titles for books supposed to be italicised? I noticed that someone is going through and changing them so they aren't anymore, wanted to check and see if that's something that is supposed to be or if it matters. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 19:45, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

admins Edit

how do you become an administrator? just wondering.

Dear Admins,

I don't know who is doing what and who is still active here so I am sending this to all of you. There are a few users, mainly BachLynn23 and Rodolphus that keep changing pages here with untrue facts. I have amended the Slytherin Quidditch Team page with the info that there are no female players, as Rowling states so a few times in her books and in several interviews, on the team. I also took out the spoof names in the list on the right hand side.

Two minutes later that Rodolphus changed it, I corrected it, the user changed it. It is not right that fans and those seeking correct information get mislead on here with names that were created in a fanfiction or the users own mind and may think it happened making a fool of themselves with other fans during discussions.

I have messaged the user and asked to please stop but they did not react and just amended it again. Even putting on some of the pages "Spoof only" but this has now been taken out by BachLynn23.

Maybe you can make sure the page is correct and then have it so that no one can edit it anymore, or do something about this? I am a Harry Potter expert and know every fact that is given us from the books and the great athors interviews therefore I don't really think it is nice to have false information and made up people on here.

I hope you can take care of this in one way or another as I won't continue editing as I am not in kindergarten or pre-school and most certainly those users appear to be as they re-edit true information with false and misleading information.

Can you not keep changing my point in the Behind the scenes section in Battle of the Department of Mysteries wikia page? I am trying to make it clear. Sirius calling Harry James by accident is not a behind the scenes fact because it was clear enough for everyone to figure out since it was clearly said in the movie and the book but the fact that Molly kept telling Sirius that he thought Harry was James was not in the movie but only the book and the prove is not mentioned directly. If you don't like my fact and you want to type Sirius calls harry james by accident then just leave my point alone and type another point (which is what I did to show respect to your point of view).

Percy Weasley Edit

House Points Game Edit

Hcoknhoj,

Since you're an admin, I would assume you'd know who decides when the House Points Game begins? Could you please let me know on my Talk Page?

Thanks,

Fake AccountEdit

Could you delete the page for User:Asshole due to the fact that an IP user created this User page and is not an actual user. I think it was mean to be a redirect to the Main page. -Adv193 05:44, February 14, 2011 (UTC)

Yes check Done - Nick O'Demus 06:14, February 14, 2011 (UTC)

Speculation Edit

Could you look at the edits that User:Danniesen keeps making to the Mulciber (Riddle-era) and Rosier articles, and those associated with them? They keep insisting that the unidentified boys in Slughorn's memory were them, even though the only ones in that group who were positively identified were Lestrange and Avery (Riddle-era).

Also, some user messed up Template:Ministry of Magic individual infobox.

Disruption Edit

Hey, can you please block 75.156.179.65? He's being nothing but disruptive, on articles like Conjuration and Aguamenti. Thanks. --Cubs Fan (Talk to me) 23:37, February 20, 2011 (UTC)

New Community Council Edit

So I just finished with the first Wikia Community Council meeting, and apparently, a small group of people have been chosen for it, it's to talk about changes, new things, problems, etc. We'll get to test new features as they come out. It's going to meet once a month, and will have a wikia page I'll be a part of to communicate between meetings. So, that being said, if there is anything you would like me to bring to a meeting, problems you've had, ideas, etc. Please let me know. They've started this as a trial, a way to communicate more with the members of wikia. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 02:19, March 2, 2011 (UTC)

QuestionEdit

Hey, weird question, so I was just on the Hogwarts Roleplay Wiki I've been helping *Luna with, and noticed that someone's signature links them back to User:Hcoknhoj (which obviously the page doesn't exist on that wiki), at first I thought you had gone over to join the roleplay, but also noticed that their user talk page is linked to User:Cattykozzi. Just thought I would bring it to your attention, as I know the user name's are universal across all Wiki's, and I don't understand why their signature links to it, unless it is you.......? The link is here--BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 02:41, March 12, 2011 (UTC)

That's kinda what I thought, but the question I have now, what if anything should be done, I mean the person hasn't written anything on the user page or talk page, yet, I just don't understand how they even got your user name to put in their signature. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 04:06, March 12, 2011 (UTC)

http://hogwartsrpg.wikia.com/wiki/Talk:Ollivander%27s_Wand_Shop (this is the specific page where I saw her signature with your user name, all the way at the bottom). --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 04:09, March 12, 2011 (UTC)

Slytherin Edit

If Cadmus Peverell's surname was Peverell then how did he give birth to someone with the surname Slytherin. It makes no sense. Look at this

                          Cadmus Peverell
                                 |
                        ----------------
                       | |
                   Gaunt Salazar Slytherin

You cant give birth to someone with a diff surname. Donut4

Voting issues Edit

Voting is in progress for new infobox pics for Gellert Grindelwald and Fleur Delacour. There's only a couple days left before they both close, so be sure to weigh in for your favorite.

We're also WAY behind on some of our featured content, especially the QOTW's and DYK's, so if you've got a couple of minutes, drop in and voice your opinions on any you like or dislike, and maybe we can get some of the backlog cleared out.

Thanks. - Nick O'Demus 09:06, April 25, 2011 (UTC)

Pottermore information Edit

Alright, with the early opening beta of Pottermore underway, new information is starting to dribble onto the site: case in point - Ollivander's first name is revealed, and the name of McGonagall's mother. Now, with this being a closed beta, we're going to be hard pressed to verify this info unless at least one of us has entry to Pottermore. If we don't, we're going to have to trust the user base until we can verify it. I have been accepted myself for early entry, but am still waiting for access. So the question is, has anyone else applied for/ got early entry so we can effectively screen for fanon? - Cavalier OneGryffindorcrest(Wizarding Wireless Network) 17:07, August 15, 2011 (UTC)
