RE:Activity Log

I noticed a day or two ago that the History of several articles was showing recent edits out of order. For example, I reverted an edit, and the reversion shows up in the history BEFORE the edit it undid. I've seen this happen once or twice before, but I don't know what causes it.

Also, sorry but I still haven't looked at the Locket article yet. I'll get to it later tonight. - Nick O'Demus 22:12, July 8, 2010 (UTC)

As for seeing edits for the last hour, that's because Cavalier One and Starstuff have been deleting blogs all day. I had to go back 2,000 edits just to review today's edits on the Recent Changes log. - Nick O'Demus 22:19, July 8, 2010 (UTC)
Now it's almost at 2,500 just to the beginning of today. - Nick O'Demus 22:23, July 8, 2010 (UTC)
45 minutes ago? Now that I have'nt heard of before. Have you tried changing the number of edits you're viewing? - Nick O'Demus 22:32, July 8, 2010 (UTC)

I found the information on the page "The Sorting Hat" I considered this information and thought that if this piece was still there than it must be canon, so i thought i would add it to Neville's page, i am guessing you do not so i wil remove the information

Hello again,

thank you for checking the source, i am sorry for causing any trouble, and apologize for any inconvienence, next time i will check sources before the edit

above, i forgot to log in, but that is from me

ALL of the above from the user HarryPotterobsessed1232 20:29, July 9, 2010 (UTC) HarryPotterobsessed1232

I am truthfully sorry for all of the trouble I have caused and from now on promise to edit articles more carefully and check with admins, or people like yourself who seem to be very well-rounded individuals and who know Harry Potter very well. I just have one question, how do you properly source information from articles?

Once again, I am very sorry, HarryPotterobsessed1232 21:23, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the help!

RE: Sorting Hat

Found it, it was from one of the Leaky Cauldron's PotterCast interviews. I've updated the reference. - Nick O'Demus 12:41, July 10, 2010 (UTC)

RE: Coincidence

You know, I thought something about that name seemed familiar. Oh well, he hasn't done anything under this username worth blocking (yet) other than adding some redundant categories, but it's one more to add to my list to keep an eye on. - Nick O'Demus 10:03, July 12, 2010 (UTC)

damn. isnt there something we can do about it? the vandalism i mean?

Re:Past Tense Template

Thanks for the great suggestion! I have created the advisory template at Template:Past tense. Starstuff (Owl me!) 02:26, July 17, 2010 (UTC)

Not at all. I based it off of Template:British. Starstuff (Owl me!) 02:35, July 17, 2010 (UTC)
That's good. I edited it to link to Harry Potter Wiki:Policy, the page that covers the past tense rule, but then realized you'd intended to link to the editing policy page. Sorry. Starstuff (Owl me!) 02:52, July 17, 2010 (UTC)
The editing policy applies to user conduct. Specifically, that editors should focus on building wiki-content (articles, categories, etc.), not their user pages. It's the General policy page that lays out many of the ground rules on writing articles (British spelling, past tense, etc.). Starstuff (Owl me!) 03:06, July 17, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for noticing. I just felt the grammar was slightly lacking and it was more of a second by second explanation than a summary. I appreciate your attention to suggestions :D

Thank you very much! --NimH-- 00:05, July 18, 2010 (UTC)

I take your point as the Taboo not going into effect till after the Ministry fell, but the trio were found with the Taboo curse almost immediately after disapparating to Tottenham Court road. I suppose though the argument can be made that the killing of Scringemour automatically restarted the Taboo Curse. So I'll concede the point. I didn't read your comment until after I added the Burrow again.

Referring to the last message you left on my talk page,

I think the details are great, definitely. Keep writing like that! I think, better to be quite specific than too vague. I appreciate the acknowledgement. There is no need to reply,

Thanks, --NimH-- 06:33, July 18, 2010 (UTC)

RE: Dress Robes

Looks fine, thanks for adding the bit about HBP. I just did some cleaning up/sourcing some of Donmax's new articles. I also found this, which verifies that the spell articles he created for LEGO Harry Potter are in the game, but this only confirms their existence. I'm still looking for a more official source which can verify the function/effects of the spells as well. - Nick O'Demus 08:30, July 19, 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry if I commited an error on the Salazar Slytherin's Basilisk page. If I did, would you help if I have a problem on some page? Ptsimpson 13:13, July 20, 2010 (UTC)

Regarding to Rowena Ravenclaw

I see that you removed "Early years" that I added on the site: Rowena Ravenclaw where I wrote that Rowena are from "Glen". It is in the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (video game) it is mentioned, where the portrait of Basil Fronsac asks for the place where Rowena Ravenclaw are from, and a Ravenclaw student answers Harry: "Rowena Ravenclaw are from Glen".

Can I write: "She came from a place called Glen instead?"

Re Possessive's

Hi, first of all, thank you for clearing up the s's thing, I'm assuming you messaged me because you saw my response to someone's question on a discussion page of Dean Thomas's, the reason I only left a message and didn't do any edits is because after posting the response I figured there may be a reason for it and didn't want to be hastey. I am a little confused however about the last part of your message to me "Also, the user policy on this wiki is very strict that no more than 15% of your edits can be on user pages, talk pages, or forums. Just thought you would like to know". Aside from messaging a couple of people I haven't done any editing to anyone's user pages, talk pages or forums. I haven't even done more then 1 edit to a wiki page (I added to the hogwarts hospital page of people that have been treated there), but other then that I've only been participating on discussion pages. So I wasn't sure if you sent me that randomly to let me know, or because I had done something I wasn't supposed to, if I did any edit's to any of those pages (user, talk or forums) I was unaware that I was doing it. --BachLynn23 11:39, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

Ok, sorry, it's just that I'm not comfortable making changes to what someone else wrote without "discussing" it first. So now I'm not sure what to do. If it's that strict maybe I won't be able to participate in wiki, which sucks and I want to participate, but again, not comfortable changing stuff I didn't write without discussing. If I make a change, can I then discuss and explain why I made it on the discussion page? But if I did that every change then it would be more lke 50/50%. Ahhhhh, and I can't go in and ask users questions about something because that would count as editing a user page? Wait, so does that mean just asking you this question is going to count against my percentages on edited sections? I'm so confused. Is there anywhere I can ask questions on here without it counting against me? --BachLynn23 15:06, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

Well, I know why you put the verify tag, but look at the BTS section on Hermione Granger's father. It states the exact same thing about it. I don't know about the unidentified Muggle though...--L.V.K.T.V.J.Hogwarts(Send an owl!) 04:10, July 25, 2010 (UTC)

RE: J. K. Rowling

Thanks, but I can understand that in-universe JKR is only mentioned as J. K. Rowling, but the real JKR should be renamed Joanne Rowling, as we know his full first name.
--El Profeta Vespertino 07:38, July 25, 2010 (UTC)

J.K. Rowling

I think that there is something to be said for how an author chooses to be referred to as in the literary world. If she wanted the literary world to know her as Joanne Rowling, I think she would have signed her books as such. The way that an author chooses to have their name appear on their books, is in my mind, just as sacred as the words they wrote. Also, if Harry's mom's page has her name as "Lily Evans", because there is no where in the book that refers to her as Lily Potter, then I think, Rowling's name should appear however it appears in all things linked to Harry Potter. Books, credits, interviews, video games, etc etc etc. --BachLynn23 17:18, July 25, 2010 (UTC)

Yo look at my Levitation and Asexuality page, and my edits on the werewolf, Apparition,Hag, Burning of thee Burrrow, and the Potters cottage pages.

I added 2 better pictures, one of Nearly Headless Nick and one of the Bloody Baron on the "Ghost" page, but they have been taken off. If there was some technical reason or rule that was the reason my additions were taken off I understand, but can't we have a better picture of them on there? The supposed picture of Nearly Headless Nick is really just a picture of Ron with his mouth open, you can't see Nick at all, and the Bloody Baron you can barely make out the front part of his face as he comes through the wall, same with the grey lady and fat friar, but I didn't have better pictures of them. --BachLynn23 22:41, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

Hey, do you know more about the guy in the 5th movie, holding Ginny hostage? On Travers's page, they say that Tav Macdougal was playing Travers, but on IMDb his character is just listed as "death eater", so I was thinking maybe someone in the movie addressed him specifically as "Travers" for the person who created that page to think that Tav was playing him and not Rabastan, or maybe JK Rowling confirmed who that death eater was somewhere in an interview. --BachLynn23 13:32, July 28, 2010 (UTC)

past tense

Hi, I was wondering if you could clear something up for me..... As I've been editing pages, I've noticed a lot of inconsistencies in tenses. I thought that everything was supposed to be in past tense, but I keep seeing both, and I just wanted to be clear which way the articles are supposed to read before I made changes to the tense. --BachLynn23 22:00, July 29, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, that's what I thought, I just wanted confirmation before changing things when I run into past tense issues!  :-) --BachLynn23 22:09, July 29, 2010 (UTC)
Cool, I'll start working on it then. It'll give me something to do, seriously bored right now. --BachLynn23 22:18, July 29, 2010 (UTC)

Hey, check out my talk page, at the end there's a conversation about the knight bus conductor and the driver. Would like your opinion. plllleeease! :-) --BachLynn23 22:17, July 29, 2010 (UTC)

probity probe/secrecy sensor

Hi, on both the secrecy sensor and probity probe pages, it says that Harry was scanned with these in 1995, which is I'm assuming when he was there for his hearing, but I've looked through both the british and american versions of the book and can only find where Eric the security guy checks Harry's wand. I also just watched the movie and didn't see either of these objects, where did this happen or did it? BachLynn23 20:12, July 31, 2010 (UTC)

Ok, I see it now, sorry, was trying to read it off a pdf file, but so is the secrecy sensor the same as probity probe? because both of those pages says he was scanned with. Is a probity probe a secrecy sensor? He definitely wasn't scanned with 2 things. --BachLynn23 20:19, July 31, 2010 (UTC)

I'll see to the spelling and I will change it to British English if I see any. --Athletiger 01:17, August 1, 2010 (UTC)Athletiger

Polyjuice Potion

First of all, in the article it says that the effects last only for an hour regardless of the dosage, but in book 7 just before the wedding it is stated that Harry is given a large dose of Polyjuice potion, and there is no mention at all the rest of the day of him needing to keep taking more. Unless of course the seating of the guests, the ceremony and the part of the reception that took place before the fall of the ministry took place in no more then an hour, which is doubtful. Also, it says in the article that continual dosing can draw out the effects indefinitely, but how do we know this? Crouch/Moody was always drinking out of his flask, which contains the polyjuice potion, so how exactly have the effects been drawn out? I'm not up on a lot of the interviews, so I thought maybe something in an interview addressed these matters. --BachLynn23 11:51, August 2, 2010 (UTC)

Oh, wow, thanks for pointing that out. I never would have noticed, I type so fast that it didn't even occur to me, my thumb is used to hitting the space bar twice without conscious thought on my part. Although, being that it's such a habit, I can't guarantee it won't happen again, lol! I'll definitely try.  :-) --BachLynn23 17:31, August 2, 2010 (UTC)

Legit edits

My new pages Defensive Charge,Room-sealing spell,Rowboat Magic are not needing vertification. Look at Powerful Illuminating Light,Violet Fire,Horn Tounge Hex, Confetti Spell,Instant Scalping Hex,Flipendo, Purple Rabbit, and Animated Qudditch Diagram.

Additonally Defensive Charge, Ettiquette Teacher, Unnmaed Professor, and Purple Rabbit do not need vertification. The Etiquette Teacher and unnmaed Profesor are mentioned on the Wizarding World of Harry Potter walkthrough, the Purple Rabbit is in the GBA game and Defensive Charge is on lexicon.

I think we should to maintain the policy. I'm tied up with image sorting at the moment so if you want to take the lead on it, feel free. I'll have to add something to the policy to cover the dates because someone is bound to try and change them back. - Cavalier OneGryffindorcrest(Wizarding Wireless Network) 22:56, August 5, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Dates

If there's already something at the name to which you're trying to move an article, you may need an admin to intervene, in order to delete whatever's in the way. There is also a limit to the number of page moves a user can make in a short time in order to help prevent vandalism. This is probably the problem you encountered, as I see you were able to move the January 3/3 January page after you left me a message. Starstuff (Owl me!) 00:19, August 6, 2010 (UTC)

Hey. If you didn't notice, I moved all of the November dates to the new titles. I apologize for not telling you that I would be doing this, seeing as this was yours and other users' project. I just was not sure that I would have time to do more than a date or two. I noticed how slow and tedious the process was and figured you needed help. If this came to any inconvenience, I am sorry. Apparation or Apparition

Thank your for the information. I could understand that Apparition changed to the verb apparate and Disapparition to disapparate but to read sometimes Apparition and sometimes Apparation and also Disapparition respectively Disapparation was confusing. So I think the right word for Dis... is also Disapparition. Thanks again for the explanation. Harry granger 20:44, August 13, 2010 (UTC)

I would tend to agree with you. Capitalisation of the full name should only be used if that is how the original source presents it. Otherwise, using lower case would be preferable. I don't know if I'll need it. But I like knowing it. I like to keep that sort of stuff on hand."

RE: Barely IDed people

That was something I'd actually asked about once. See here and here. - Nick O'Demus 08:02, August 22, 2010 (UTC)

Well, it is in several reviews about the film from the early screening, if you have heard about that, saying that he doesn't get killed; i.e., here and here. There are smaller, less important scenes that are argued (i.e., Harry and Ginny kissing on Harry's birthday), but this has not been contradicted, so I am sure it is true. Yes, I think it is an important scene in the book, but reading about it is one thing, and seeing it on screen is another. That would be very graphic and hard to watch. There is still a possibility he will die during the Battle of Hogwarts, though.--L.V.K.T.V.J.Hogwarts(Send an owl!) 23:06, August 22, 2010 (UTC)

mention only

Hey, just curious, someone today has been going onto pages and adding (Mentioned only) to books on the appearance sections of pages. Isn't that just for movies and video games when you don't actually see it, but it was "mentioned", where as in a book, well it doesn't really work that way. I just wanted to make sure I was right on that, one example is a bunch of the beast/animal pages, like flobberworm, they put "mention" next to fantastic beasts and where to find them. I changed it because I didn't think that was right when it came to books, but I thought I should check just to be sure. --BachLynn23 19:14, August 26, 2010 (UTC)

Ummm, still a little confused. So in Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them, is the flobberworm "mentioned only", or for that matter all of the creatures in the book. What, in the book, constitutes being "seen" vs "mentioned only"? I kinda get where the HP 1-7 books are concerned, but as far as Quidditch through the ages and fantastic beasts, I don't get it. --BachLynn23 21:22, August 26, 2010 (UTC)

Harry's 17th birthday

I saw your edit to the site of George Weasley that either George or Fred walk in the kitchen when Harry and Ginny kissed there instead of Ron bursting in on them in Ginny's bedroom. From where do you know or have you seen a picture? I ask because the birthday and the kiss happen after George loses his ear in the Skirmish of Little Whinging. George already wears a bandage around his head over his ear during the Wedding of William Weasley and Fleur Delacour. So he must have worn it already on Harry's 17th birthday party. If the twin has worn the bandage it is George, if not it is Fred. What would you think? Harry granger 16:17, August 27, 2010 (UTC)

Hey, I was just wondering what you thought about putting a table on the page detailing more about the specifics surrounding the list of people who are known to have performed wandless magic, I've got one, but I thought in this case I'd ask first before putting it on, what do you think? --BachLynn23 01:21, September 1, 2010 (UTC)

hallows part 1

Hey, I noticed on the Hallows part 1 movie page, there is a bad ref tag in the reference list, but I don't know how to fix it. Also, are you beta testing the new wikia? I am and I was just wondering if it was just the new beta wikia or what because the ref scroll box on the hallows part 1 page doesn't look right, but it may be a glitch on the beta version. I've noticed a few places where the beta wikia makes things look all "wonky" as opposed to the old version. --BachLynn23 14:44, September 1, 2010 (UTC)

I may just be a little too ocd, or maybe it's just the beta version, but the pics in the info boxes look kind of awkward, they always seem to be all the way to the left of the boxes leaving tons of empty colored space, is there any way they could be centered maybe? --BachLynn23 19:03, September 1, 2010 (UTC)

hey i made like 30 new pages, all food based, directly from the harry potter lexicon and could you please edit them.-Donmax

Hey could you look at my food pages, please. i made a lot-Donmax

The Potter Puppet Pals and A Very Potter Musical articles, you mean? I'm not so sure... I think we should have another page, like List of Harry Potter fan websites, listing those, though I'm not sure what to call it. And while we're on the subject, I think we really should merge all the bands in the Wrock category into a single List of Wizard Rock bands article. -- Seth Cooper owl post! 01:08, September 4, 2010 (UTC)

RE: Signatures

Yeah, I figured that out earlier. But I have another problem. I put the name in My Preferences and everything, but when I put my signature on someone else's talk-page, the default comes out. Help, please! {{subst:User:(Mace170)/(User:Mace170/Signature)}} 04:12, September 4, 2010 (UTC)

{{subst:User:Mace170/User:Mace170/Signature}} is the thing I wrote in My Preferences. The signature template page, is "User:Mace170/Signature"

Mace170 11:38, September 4, 2010 (UTC)

Were you ever admin?

I saw on the Request for Permission page that everyone voted for you. Were you once an admin in the past? {{subst:User:(Mace170)/(User:Mace170/Signature)}} 04:27, September 4, 2010 (UTC)

What do you mean?

What do you mean I've been on for eight months? Did you miss type? I've been on since July. You said I was on for eight months. I'm really puzzled. By the way, I think I fixed my sig. {{subst:User:Mace170/User:Mace170/Signature}} 04:37, September 4, 2010 (UTC)

I need help...

I really need help with my signature. I want my signature to come up, not the broken template link thingy. I kept on reloading it to the My Preferences but nothing works! Oh my gosh, please help me!

wandless/non verbal magic

Hey, I was thinking, isn't there a scene at the leaky cauldron in, I think the first movie, where a wizard is reading a book and moving his hand over his tea cup stirring his tea, but not actually touching the spoon, no wand, and no incantations. Would this fit under wandless or non verbal magic, or do you think it was just an enchanted spoon? --BachLynn23 20:05, September 4, 2010 (UTC)

That's sort of what I was thinking, from the way it looks it seems like he's directing the magic with his finger as sort of an after thought, because if I recall he's reading a book and hardly if at all looking at the spoon and cup. Is there a page for this guy anywhere already, or for that matter any of the witches/wizards Harry met in the Leaky Cauldron for the first time? --BachLynn23 00:31, September 5, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your code upload, but I realized it was your signature. Could you post on mine, what my code should be.

Yeah, but in my preferences, you can't go between source mode or rich text.Mace170 15:49, September 5, 2010 (UTC)

Sirius Black's bike

The page is titled Sirius Black's motorcycle, but in the British version of the books, it is referred to as a "motorbike", not a motorcycle, that is in the American version of the books. (I checked, I have both versions). --BachLynn23 13:56, September 9, 2010 (UTC)

Anthony_Appleyard keeps changing the Sirius Black motorbike page, he's redirected to motorcycle, I've tried to explain to them that the books say "motorbike", but he keeps insisting that in England they refer to it as "motorcycle". I'm looking at the books right now, both book 1 and book 7 (british versions) say motorbike, I tried to tell him that it didn't matter what it's referred to in England that the books are cannon, but he keeps changing it regardless, and I don't know how to fix the page back to Sirius Black's motorbike, as he has put it back to Sirius Black's motorcycle. HELP! --BachLynn23 19:22, September 9, 2010 (UTC)

Peter P's victims

Hey, I'm confused about the date of Peter's victims, and I'm not sure if it's a wikia error or a date inconsistency by JK Rowling. So the Potter's died on Oct 31, but there's that whole gap where there's an entire day that passes afterwards before Harry is brought to the Dursley's, which would have been Nov 1, that night (the book says almost midnight) Hagrid pulls up on Sirius' bike with Harry and when he leaves he says he's bringing the bike back to Sirius, now where Hagrid was traveling with Harry all day I could see him not knowing about a street being blown up and 12 muggles plus the supposed murder of Peter, but you would think Dumbledore would have heard, news always seems to travel pretty fast in the wizarding world, if anything I would venture to guess that those murders took place on the 2nd, Peter would have been trying awfully hard to hide, not knowing for sure who the Potter's might have told he was the secret keeper and from LV's other followers so it makes sense that Sirius wouldn't have found him immediately after lending his bike to Hagrid. I know JK has said she isn't good with math/dates, so I wasn't sure what the case was here. Do you know? --BachLynn23 12:59, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

Hey, the last few days User:Voldemortiselegant, has been making a lot of changes to any page to do with Voldemort, specifically Tom Riddle, and a lot of what he writes seems a little over the top with adjectives. This last edit he's using words like regal elegance and "graceful when he moves", it seems a little much. Oh and he re did one of the edits that you undid. --BachLynn23 19:26, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

Yea, he seems to have toned things down, for now at least. Although there are still some things that he added I was thinking of taking out, he's added so many adjectives to it though it (Tom Riddle) almost needs a complete work through. I'd almost understand saying good things about Draco, but Voldemort, come on. AT least Draco still has a shot at being decent. lol! --BachLynn23 02:59, September 12, 2010 (UTC)

I agree, and also, what do you think about deleting this paragraph:

"Lord Voldemort carries an air of regal elegance about him, such as his formal way of speaking or his delicate way of holding his wand. He's graceful when he moves, and his black silk robes add to his air of grandeur."

It's under personality and traits section, it seems a little unnecessary, but I wanted a second opinion before I deleted. Also, fyi, I'm on layoff right now from work, so I'm on here like hours a day, so if there's ever anything I can help with, let me know!  :-) --BachLynn23 03:04, September 12, 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I've been going through the "list of spells" page today, making sure everything matches up with the corresponding pages, adding spells that have been added recently, etc etc. well I had noticed a couple of things I was wondering if you could help me with. 1) There is a spell that Snape uses in the movie Prisoner of Azkaban, when he catches Harry out of bed, he points he wand at the marauder's map and says "reveal your secret", I've been trying to find if there's already a page for this, or for that matter should this "spell" have its own page.... 2) Rowboat spell links to hogwarts boats on the list of spells page, but I was thinking, in the first book Hagrid taps the row boat 3 times with his umbrella to make the rowboat go faster, so could these be the same spells and if so, should rowboat spell actually have its own page... Let me know what you think...thanks!  :-) --BachLynn23 23:15, September 14, 2010 (UTC)

antler spell

Hey, Lego Harry Potter has the spell Anteoculatia that makes antlers sprout on a person's head, do you think this is enough to merge this with Antler spell, or should they remain 2 separate spells? --BachLynn23 13:15, September 15, 2010 (UTC)

Take a look at their recent edits to the various Weasley articles. I already gave them a Fanon warning. 06:04, September 20, 2010 (UTC)

Arielle Brown

Hey, I created a page for Arielle Brown, who plays a Beauxbaton in the 4th movie, and have 2 sources (not imdb) that says she was Seamus' yule ball partner, but it's been brought to my attention, that on Hannah's page it says she was his yule ball partner in the movie, I wasn't sure what to do, the two sources I have (which are listed on the article for Arielle) are pretty solid, what do you think? --BachLynn23 20:37, September 20, 2010 (UTC)

Regardless, adding that to the article is, on my point of view, unnecessary. After all there are multiple other names for football (including "Pediludium", as featured in the Latin translations), that would seem, after all, out of place in a British encyclopedia. Perhaps adding an invisible note to the lead sentence asking not to change it does the trick? -- Seth Cooper owl post! 21:18, September 21, 2010 (UTC)

Yay, I've hit 3000 edits!!! --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 18:21, September 23, 2010 (UTC)

may not be

I found it already on that date on the wikia 20 August, oh, while we are on the subject of dates, I noticed some articles had dec 24th as the date for the yule ball, but the majority said 25th, so I fixed them all to say 25th, that's correct isn't, yule ball on dec 25th? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 01:21, September 24, 2010 (UTC)

I've checked lexicon, they have his death just as august, I don't know where the person who put it on the august 20th article got the info, it was User:Margiechocoholic, I shouldn't have assumed that the info was correct, my bad (assuming it is wrong) it was put there so long ago I just assumed if it was wrong someone would have noticed by now. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 01:31, September 24, 2010 (UTC)

can you check the info on 20 August, I don't know if any of the info is accurate. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 01:33, September 24, 2010 (UTC)

cannon question

Hey, the article London Telecom Tower, now in the book it was called the Post Office Tower, and today it is called the BT Tower, (formerly known as the london telecom tower), so should the article be titled as it is seen in the books, or the name which it is currently known as? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 14:38, September 26, 2010 (UTC)

Hey, so I've been going through the spells in the books, comparing our list with Lexicon and the books, seeing if we are missing anything, there are a few I can't seem to find, but may not be looking under the right thing, wanted to run them by you:

  1. The spell the dragon keepers use to pound the stakes into the ground to fasten the dragons to (GoF)
  2. The chair in the Court of Magical Law magically restrained the accused using ropes {GoF, OotP)
  3. Charity Burbage was confined with invisible bindings at Malfoy Manor (DH)

I'm thinking maybe the chair in the court has the incarcerous spell on it somehow, similiar to the way the flying ford angela turns invisible and flies at a push of buttons.... Charity's bindings were invisible so maybe a variation of the incarcerous spell or something special of LV's. Thoughts? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 15:56, September 30, 2010 (UTC)

So what it was still a spell. Plus why delete spoon? 03:00, October 1, 2010 (UTC)

There is not a single official source for Tav MacDougall playing Travers. His own website is not an official source because he does not mantain the content himself. The website is designed and hosted by his agency, who are liable to make mistakes. It is likely that whoever wrote his CV saw that the IMDB listed him as playing Travers, and mistakenly copied it. Given the fact that the IMDB has repeatedly fed false information to this, and other sites, That Travers doesn't even appear in the novel, and the fact that the credits of the movie itself list him simply as "Death Eater" it's pretty obvious that this is just another mix-up caused by lack of reaserch. In future I would ask that examine the evidence properly before threatening to ban someone for trying to help. Thank you.

I'm not saying they're untrustworthy, I'm saying their mistaken. Their is no need to look for a source regarding MacDougall's role in the film, because the film itself credits him as "Death Eater". That is his role in the film. If he was meant to be a specific character the credits would list him as such, but they don't, so he isn't. Basically what your saying is it's okay to have false information in an encyclopedia, as long as noboady points it out.

Hey, can you say something to Donmax, his content is getting better, but he has a few hundred edits now, and I still have to go behind him and fix the formatting, spelling, links, etc. Which I don't mind occasionally but all the time is a bit much. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 20:01, October 3, 2010 (UTC)

Dumbledorenotgay userbox

Its a bit tricky, but if the user is expressing a personal belief on his user page, then its fine. Simply stating that he believes Dumbledore to not be gay is fine as long as he's not offensive about it. However, I did delete the rainbow flag with a line through it since that could be viewed as offensive. - Cavalier OneGryffindorcrest(Wizarding Wireless Network) 14:55, October 4, 2010 (UTC)

Oh, absolutely. If he continues attempting to alter content of this nature after being explicitly warned, then he's looking at a ban. Three administrators warning him should be enough :P - Cavalier OneGryffindorcrest(Wizarding Wireless Network) 15:07, October 4, 2010 (UTC)

Hey, so there is an article for Cockroach, but in doing some research today, technically in Britain the insect is referred to as "black beetles", on the other hand there are cockroach clusters, and I believe there is a comment made somewhere about whether or not cockroaches are actually an ingredient in them. So, the question is, what should the article be titled, when referring to potion ingredients it's black beetles in the first book, but I've seen it referred to as both throughout, what is your take on it? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 19:18, October 4, 2010 (UTC)

I've tagged this template for deletion, again. Not because I think it is a policy violation, but because it is unnecessary. If the user in question wants this box, then all they have to do is copy the raw code onto their page. Having a wiki template dedicated to purporting a view point that's completely false is unnaceptable, however. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talkcontribs).

Hey, I've been working in my sandbox doing some possible rewrites to the seven article. It was brought up on the talk page, and I sort of agreed, that maybe the stuff about Harry Potter and the Number 7 should be in the main part, and the stuff that has nothing to do with Harry potter be in behind the scenes, and that some of the facts are a little over the top and unnecessary, Could you take a look at what I've done so far and tell me what you think? Maybe make some edits..... I'm using my sandbox because where I'm switching some major stuff around, I wanted to do it in a rough draft form first. I haven't deleted anything yet, just moved it around some. Then again, I was also thinking maybe all sections except for "wizarding community" should be in behind the scenes, I'm just not sure, but it doesn't seem that this article stands up to the way other articles are written as far as what is cannon, what should be in behind the scenes, what is real world. User:BachLynn23/Sandbox --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 22:05, October 6, 2010 (UTC)

Flear Delacour

It is not the importance of the character that matters, but the quality of the article. Flear Delacour is a featured article, and so her main image must be voted on. This is a standard wiki practice that all wiki's comply with. The current main image has been in place for several months, therfore a vote is neccesary and appropriate. Furthermore the new image is of a significant decreese in quality, and therfore detrimental to the article. Damien O'Hagen 22:58, October 6, 2010 (UTC)

RE: Fleur image

According to this page, 'the latest appearance is to be used as opposed to the last if the character is still alive when last seen or heard about'. I will not contradict an administrator, but 'the layout guide should be followed wherever possible in order to give the Harry Potter Wiki a more professional and encyclopedic view on content'.

Hey -- this might be kind of a silly question, or maybe just the wrong place to ask it, but how exactly do we determine when a difference between a book and it's film adaptation is canon, and when it's not? I understand that Sirius calling Harry "James" in the OotP film was totally different from what went down in the book, and that the books would naturally supersede the films, but that particularly scene, however different, doesn't seem like it completely inaccurately represents aspects of Harry and Sirius' relationship. I was just kind of curious -- was that specific instance something that was previously discussed here and determined not to be canon, or is anything that's in the films but not the books considered outside of the canon? Or does that slip of the tongue just misrepresent the book version of Sirius more than I realized...? Thanks. Emmy () 21:02, October 11, 2010 (UTC)
