[edit] Lavender

Sorry. I didn´t want to undo the vandalism. We worked on the article at the same time. The article is correct again, finally.--Rodolphus 12:23, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Shut it!

Hey Shut Up! I can spam and vandalize if i want! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.118.120.222 (talkcontribs).

[edit] Lavender Brown vandalism

That person's been at this for weeks now. Check the history of the Seamus Finnigan page and see. They always go after Seamus, and characters closely related to him such as Lavender and Dean. The problem is they use a slightly modified IP address each time, so blocking won't make much difference. - Nick O'Demus 16:50, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Ronald Weasley vandalism

Just a head's up, this isn't the first time this guy's done this. Currently, they're 142.68.105.50 (previously 142.68.98.216, Iamkes, 142.68.98.157, and142.68.98.1).

They follow the same pattern every time: they go through a character's article one section at time, "dumbing down" the wording, cutting down characters' names, removing pictures, subsituting certain phrases with anagrams, and sometimes misdirecting the pipe links.

You can see on Iamkes' talk page that Seth Cooper previously tried to point out the editing guidelines and warned them against ignoring the policies. He also recently blocked 142.68.98.216 when they started doing it again (check the History of the Harry Potter article to see what they were up to yesterday, they were at it for over 6 straight hours). - Nick O'Demus 07:28, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

The problem is, as soon as they get done with one article, they move on to another. Between the various I.P. addresses listed, they've done Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Bellatrix Lestrange, Lucius Malfoy, Remus Lupin, Rubeus Hagrid, Sirius Black, Minerva McGonagall, and Antonin Dolohov. It's not like we can give every character article on the wiki semi-protected status just on account of this guy. - Nick O'Demus 07:40, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
Unfortunately, yes. I'd hoped they'd quit last month, but now they're back and they've learned how to change their I.P. address. I just thought I'd let you know what to watch for in case you see this sort of editing happening on any other articles. - Nick O'Demus 08:01, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Minute of silence

I had also considered whether it would be possible to lock down the site for a minute. However, I think the spirit of the minute of silence is to let Jayden know that he is in our thoughts, and I think that can only truly be achieved if people consciously set aside some time out of their day. Also, the Protect site function page states that it is intended as a "last resort method" for "circumvent[ing] persistent spam or vandal attacks," so I'm not sure the Wikia staff would activate it on this site for the purpose of observing a minute of silence. Thanks for the tip though. :) Starstuff (Owl me!) 14:37, September 7, 2009 (UTC)

Forgot to mention this earlier, but Seth Cooper put up a very nice message about the Moment of Silence in the Wiki's Site Notice. Just thought I'd let you know. - Nick O'Demus 07:07, September 13, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Moving pages

Oh! I never noticed that! Thanks! --  Seth Cooper  owl post! 01:17, September 16, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Success!

Grunny, I got the preload templates to work. Although you forgot to mention MediaWiki:Edittools; I had to update the current one to get it all to work. Good job I checked what you did over at the Firefly Wiki! - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 11:48, September 18, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Department of Mysteries

Hey Grunny; finally got the review panel nominations off the ground here. You know I want you aboard this ride, so this is formal request for you to accept a nomination, championed by myself. What do you say? - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 09:34, September 29, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Common.js

Thanks for that, Grunny - my router through a fit and disconnected me from IRC. The FA warning is in place and working fine :) Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 15:05, October 19, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Accidental Edit

Sorry Grunny, I didn't mean to edit Seth Cooper's user page. I completely forgot to use the talk page instead. Is there anyway that you could put that exact paragraph onto Seth's talkpage, please?--Yin&Yang 04:07, October 26, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Thankyou

I just wanted to say thanks for that message you left me in my talk page. It really did help.--Yin&Yang 04:16, October 26, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Some Help

Hi, Ive been told you know quite alot about Templates and coding and such. I require some help of yours. I was wondering about If-Then-Else statements in wikicode. Ive saw that in certain infobox templates there are things like {{#If:#000000|000000|111111}} I am guessing for colors. I cannt seem to find any documentation about If statements in wiki. I was wondering if it possible to use if-then statements to stop redlinks. let me explain. when a page has the {{transribed image}} template in use, it adds a link to the page's talkpage, but sometimes there is no talk page, so it leaves a redlink. I was wondering, if in the template code, you could use an If-then statement to have it give a link to the talk page, IF there is a talk page, but if there is no talk page, it was just say 'talk page'. I would really appreicate your help. Thank you. Also, Merry Christmas. -- Ratneer Owl Me! Contribs 04:57, December 25, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the information. It really helps. -- Ratneer Owl Me! Contribs 05:16, December 25, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Also

Also, just being curious, but what did you do when you changed your /monaco.js. Dont mean to be nosy. -- Ratneer Owl Me! Contribs 05:07, December 25, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Dont mean to bother you again

Sorry to bother you again, But I wanted to ask you about something. I have been trying to learn more about templates and parser functions. Right now, I am trying to learn how the #switch function works. As you can see Here and Here, I am trying to make the code:

{{X1
|name=(1-5)
}}

To display the (result1-5) in a sentence like 'What is (Result1-5) Last name?'

I cannot seem to find out what I did wrong. Could you please help me figure it out. I am guessing it is a simple mistake you can point out to me. Thank you so much. -- Ratneer Owl Me! Contribs 07:02, December 25, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, I Knew i was overcomplicating it. -- Ratneer Owl Me! Contribs 07:21, December 25, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Yet Another Question

I was wondering if you knew a way to view the Special:Editcount as raw. You see, Im trying to make a edit goal template/userbox, and Im trying to make the code work, but it wont if the Editcount has a ',' in the number. Here:
Template Page:

{| cellspacing="0" style="width: 238px; border:1px solid DarkBlue; background:Green;"
| style="width: 80px; height: 40px; background:DarkBlue; text-align: center; font-size:14pt; color:White;" | '''Edit count Goal'''
| style="font-size:8pt; padding: 4pt; line-height: 1.25em; color:Gold;" | {{#expr: {{{1|goal|}}} - {{Special:Editcount/{{#if:
{{{2|name|}}}|{{{name|}}}|{{{PAGENAME}}}}}}}
|}

The part I am having trouble with is:

{{#expr: {{{1|goal|}}} - {{Special:Editcount/{{#if:{{{2|name|}}}|{{{name|}}}|{{{PAGENAME}}}}}}}

Then you would put:

{{TEMPLATE NAME
|name=NAME OF USER (Not neccesary If it is on Your userpage)
|goal=EDITCOUNT GOAL
}}

Because the Editcount page returns the count as a number with a , like 1,234 the #expr wont accept it. I have no clue how to make it raw without the ,. I hope you do, because Ive been trying to find this out for Hours. I dont know if you can help, but I would be ever so greatful if you did. -- Ratneer Owl Me! Contribs 23:55, December 25, 2009 (UTC)
