Thanks for the welcome! Plumber

Just wanted to know if it was legit or not. I will reword it until the time that Warner Brothers decides to tell us =)

Rumor and Fact

Could I just ask you to check out Jim Broadbent's page and tell me weather it is fact or rumor that he is playing Slughorn, please ? If he hasn't been confirmed then can you make some sort of announcement on my behalf telling people not to state things (e.g. ' Jim Broadbent' is to play Professor Slughorn in the new Movie) that arn't fact. I know it's picky but i think it will keep Harry Potter Wikia cleaner and give it a good reputation for not encouraging things that are just rumor.
Snoopy (or Alex Scamander as I would like to have been if I had known that i could put spaces in my username and didn't detest two names stuck together...)

On the Broadbent issue - The Leaky Cauldron is reporting that he is, with an interview with Broadbent himself. - Cavalier One 19:10, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Hey! I've got another problem

In case you haven't seen the Recent Changes... I've been changing Category:Spells to Category:Non-Canonical Spells for certain spells. But some of them have the spell infobox, giving them Category:Spells by default. Is there any way I can take it off just for those? Thanks. Syu, who always has to come to this page and ask annoying questions...

Hey - I know you removed the automatic spell categorisation from the spell infobox, but the articles are still being listed in the Spell category, even the ones that have been recategorised as non-canonical and Dark Magic. To be honest, though, I don't see why certain articles can't be in multiple categories such as Spells/Non-Canonical Spells or Spells/Dark Magic. - Cavalier One 10:20, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Any objections?

Hi - just wondering if you had any objections to me starting to update the main page Featured Article and selected picture since the others have been up for a while? Incidently, should we have a vote similar to the FA vote for the selected picture?

On a side note, the User:Cavalier One/Featured Article proposal I wrote: any objections to me posting it as policy and implementing it? - Cavalier One 07:56, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

The italicised comments were meant for sidenotes only, anyway. They'll be removed from the final draft. A vote would be good for the Selected Picture, but what about nomination criteria? We'd probably have to exclude character shots since they would presumably be used in Featured Articles. - Cavalier One 11:11, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
Licensing for images is something we need to look at. I've started to add the source for my images now, just to get some type of sourcing on them, and reckon we should start a drive to place sources on all images and remove any suspect ones such as fan art. While it is true that FAs need not be characters, at the moment the majority are. Maybe I need to think about doing an FA on something other than a character. We also need to promote the FA system and get others writing them ... I can't write them all ;) - Cavalier One 11:31, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
Discussing with Cometstyles about the Selected Picture, and we're thinking on changing it to the Ministry of Magic. Obviously, we can cobble together and voting system in a while, but at least this way it changes the picture. Oh, and I updated the FA. - Cavalier One 14:24, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

More questions. Is this necessary? Can it be moved? Mr Question

You are welcome to use {{delete}} with a reason if you think it should be deleted. John Reaves (talk) 00:37, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Yeh i just found out. Thanks anyway =) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Snoops619 (talkcontribs).

HPW:FA pages

I noticed you moved the FA pages rather than creating new pages. Don't you think HPW:Featured Articles would be a useful page in and of itself for listing the FAs and providing a general explanation of FAs here? John Reaves (talk) 00:37, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Ooops, I guess I misread the move logs. It all looks good now. ;) John Reaves (talk) 01:08, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

DJ, give me a chance to make use of the template before you mark it for deletion, ok? Chadlupkes 04:14, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Ok, the first thing that I noticed when I found the wiki was the Spoiler Warning. The Tabs template can help with that. The template creates up to 8 tabs at the top of the page, and my suggestion for use would be on pages where things are revealed in later books that people don't need to see yet. Each tab could be a version of the article with the revelations from that particular book included. I won't put it into effect until there is a consensus that it is useful, but you can see it being used on Campaigns as an example. Chadlupkes 13:03, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
Yes, it would be a ton of work. But unless the author is going to be writing new stories within the HP universe, kids will always be reading the books. I won't have time to do a lot, so if it's not something this community wants to take on I'll understand. I just wanted to make the offer. Chadlupkes 14:24, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

I'm back from a internet downslide. I'll be pestering you with question ^_^. Syugecin

More Questions

Sorry to keep bothering you, but I have some more questions. Can you chat? Tyminator1 00:19, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Okay, the page Random bursts of magic needs a new title. How do you do that?Tyminator1 00:30, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure what I'll call it, but I will take care of that later. Next, is it a fact that Molly Weasley killed Bellatrix Lestrange? I don't remember if it said what the spell was... Tyminator1 00:39, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

I'm back! I checked book 7 and it didn't say what the spell was, but it said that both women were deuling to the death, so I assume that means she was killed. Oh, and that Random bursts of magic page, how about something simple like Unexpected Magic? Tyminator1 01:20, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Now that I think about it, what if I made a page called Underage Magic and just included Random bursts of magic to it? I just can't think of a good name for it. Tyminator1 23:21, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

I think that the article could be left alone for now. This page seems like it has enough on the topic to me. Tyminator1 17:25, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Sounds like a good idea to me. Off the top of my head, checking for any articles mispelling Sybill Trelawney's first name as Sibyll, and adding the "u" to Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans. Possibly changing references to the Second Battle of Hogwarts to the Battle of Hogwarts since the battle in book 6 is referred to as the Battle of the Astronomy Tower. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 17:37, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

british version

On Albus Dumbledore, I noticed you reverted an edit, and I was just wondering something. In the British version, does the Bertie Bott's actually say "his"? otherwise, the quote should have brackets in it to show that it was changed from the original. Admiral Carth Onasi 22:20, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

I'm at work at the moment, and don't have my copy to hand. However, I believe the quote in question is spoke by Dumbledore himself during his visit to Harry in the Hospital Wing and goes something like "I was unfortunate enough to come across a vomit-flavoured one in my youth and lost my liking for them. But, perhaps, a nice toffee ... Alas! Earwax!"
Therefore, the correct quote should be "in my youth", transposed to "in [his] youth" to show the deviation from the original quote. However, you could always just drop the quote marks altogether so the sentence reads: "He dislikes Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans after coming across a vomit flavoured bean in his youth." - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 13:55, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
Not a problem. The quote sticks in my mind because of the way Richard Harris performed that scene in the Philosopher's Stone film. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 14:01, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Sounds fine to me. Also, I'm not sure, but I think you can get staff to flag it as a bot so it doesn't clod up recent changes, watchlists. etc. John Reaves (talk) 18:27, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Question Ginny

why did you delete my quote for gagging? Karu 18:48, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

IMO my quote for gagging in Ginny stayed. But only my opinion. I am not the oracle, beacuse I'm tylko people.Karu talk 15:08, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

You seem to be good at making those kinds of sections. Could you help me make one for Nev? Thanks. Syugecin

one question

How to do this template the user is a bureaucrat?Karu talk 09:27, 21 October 2007 (UTC)\

Semi-protection of Albus Dumbledore

Just to inform you that I have protected Dumbledore for being edited by unregistered users due to recent revelations of his sexuality by the author, and subsequent vandalism of the page. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 07:56, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Date Articles

Why exactly do we need articles on dates such as 1993 and others? I don't really understand why we need them... - Tyminator1 17:40, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

I agree. I think that if it is not explictly contradicted by a higher canon (the books), then it should remain. In this instance, Montague goes back to Graham Montague, with a BTS note on the origin of his name. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 21:18, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

If I remember correctly, the name Graham comes from the game Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup, which also introduced several new characters on the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff teams, as well as international players. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 06:55, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
True enough on the community decision. Then again, I'm an inclusionist who seeks to incorporate everything :) As long as there is no direct evidence to the contrary, then I say it's in. Even some of the more ... ludicrous ... game scenarios. Incidentally, I was surfing Memory Alpha, the Star Trek wiki, and found their Canon policy. Basically it lists what non-canon material is allowed to be included in the wiki as Permitted Resources. Any use to you in your Canon guide? - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 13:19, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Actually, Sources is a better term than Appearance for some of them, such as Wizard of the Month. And Black Family tree could be included in that as well, and I suppose interviews could fall under the category as well. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 22:43, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Ok, so Appearances covers the books, films and games - Sources cover everything else from interviews to the official sites. We include everything, we just make sure it is properly tagged and referenced. Does this mean eliminating the non-canonical categories as well? I've never been a fan of them myself, but I can see they have their uses. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 22:54, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
I agree. As for notable fanon ... I don't think there is any that is worthy enough to be put on the same level as, say, Troops. I've never come across any. What I was thinking about, tho, is merchandise and fan base. We have an article for the LEGO sets, so should we expand it to all official products, or get rid of it? And notable fans, such as those over at Mugglenet, etc - do we include them or not? - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 23:12, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi DJ - I really like your User Page, and i wanted to do something similar on mine as far as contributions go. How can i make a template like that, or maybe you have one I could modify? Mafalda Hopkirk 21:56, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Should I be using the Template:expand instead of the Template:Stub ??? -Matoro183 Go Ravenclaw! 23:13, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Emckuf just turned the Main_Page/Featured article template into a very large picture of a pokemon. I believe this would be classified as vandalism -Matoro183 (Ravenclaw) 15:44, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Recent vandalism

Hey, just a heads up - the mudkip vandal has been impersonating me with a similar user name. I've reverted the vandalism, but this is getting to be a serious problem. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 19:07, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Multiple - Gaf a si Subla is one (read it backwards), and he used CavaIier One to impersonate me - the "I" looks like an "l" when read in the RC list. Thought I was seeing things when I saw all the vandalism. We're blocking them, but he keeps coming back. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 20:57, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
He moved my user page and talk page to the new account pages as well, forcing me to protect them. I thought all this Dumbledore is gay stuff would have run its course by now. Guess not. Oh well ... - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 21:14, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Lunafan used the mudkip image as well. -Matoro183 (Ravenclaw) 21:20, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
