have you looked at that link I was trying to remove?

Where in the movie (part 1 or 2) is the picture you posted on the page Nymphadora Tonks with the caption Remus and Tonks during the beginning of the Battle of Hogwarts? Please let me know. I am a HUGE Tonks and Lupin fan and I want to know from where in the movie the picture is from. If you could give me an approxamite time, that would be great.
Nanny McPhee Sequel
Actually, it was released as "Nanny McPhee Returns," but that was a retitling for the U.S./Canada release. It aired in theatres in the U.K. as Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang. Seeing as it's the normal policy to use British titles for everything else here, I think it makes sense to use the British title for this as well. ProfessorTofty 04:27, October 29, 2011 (UTC)

Hi, Cubs Fan! You deleted this image above. I now saw File:Tumblr lpcjmfqwRd1qdyf29o1 500.png. When you look at it you will find it very interesting.21:44, November 20, 2011 (UTC)
Hi! I'm totally fine with this, but can I just ask the reason for the convention of writing "[Someone] was ..." as opposed to "[Someone] is ..." on the Harry Potter Wiki? As long as the person is still "alive" (as of the current time in the Harry Potter universe) I see no reason to refer to them in the past tense. Thanks in advance, and sorry in anticipation of any noobness I may exhibit in this post. Aaronsclee 04:41, December 15, 2011 (UTC)
Since your an administrator, and since Cavailar One is not responding, can you please unprotect the page "Draco Malfoy's wand". It has been protected for some time now, and I feel it should be unprotected. Could you do that? Thank you! P.S Go cubs (I'm from the chicagoland area) Wizard211 03:09, December 19, 2011 (UTC)
Article Nymphadora Tonks
In this article is written that Sirius is Nymphadora's uncle. In the summary you gave: She and Sirius are cousins once removed; he would be her uncle if he and Andromeda were siblings. I'm not sure if you wrote the text or only forgot to revert the text, but the child of my cousin is my great-cousin and I am his/her great-cousin and not the aunt or - in this case - the uncle. I thought I should contact you first.17:37, December 30, 2011 (UTC)
I would like to request of you to please check the contribution I made to the Talk section regarding the Trace Charm, because I don't want to do the edition on the Trace page itself, since I haven't done any calculations with regard to the age and the months. Math just makes me dizzy and nauseous. So, in addition to my previous request I would like you to consider what I said and if you think it's good enough can you please do the computations yourself etc. etc. Thank you very much and more power to you! Could I just ask when in the year the Hogwarts acceptance letter is posted? On it is 'We await your owl by no later than July 31', so it is before then. But is it when the student turns 11, or a set date before the 31st? And if it is the latter, does the student have to be 11 before the letter is posted, 31 July, or 1 September? Its just that this would affect the possible earlier and latter birthdates of minor video game characters, which is bugging me for some reason. Thanks in advance! aaronsclee (talk) 07:50, February 4, 2012 (UTC)
Icarlyftw 07:19, February 19, 2012 (UTC)Sorry. I think I was trying to add the name actually. I'm still learning how things go here. I like the Cubs too by the way because my uncle is from Chicago, but I live near Boston so my favorite team is the Red Sox. I really feel bad for them and I hope they win the World Series if the Red Sox don't. You should find it easier with Theo Epstein though.
In an article, we only have one link to other articles, right? For example, on the Harry Potter page, there are many mentions of Ronald Weasley. We don't, however, link to that article every time Ron is mentioned. But what are the exceptions to this? In the Harry Potter article, Voldemort is mentioned in the quote at the top. But do we put the one link to the Tom Riddle page there and nowhere else? Because many people skip the quote and go straight to the article and would miss the link. What are the conventions for the placement of links? Thanks! aaronsclee (talk) 06:49, February 21, 2012 (UTC)

Hilariously - to me anyway - I've always thought that UK English (which I've used all my life) wrote dates out the way they were spoken. Ie; "The 7th of March", and that something like "7 March", or "March 7" was a distinctly American thing. *facepalm* —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Derpherpherp (talk • contribs).

So sorry to bother you, and I know we don't really talk much. However, it is rather annoying to be constantly logging in whenever I attempt to edit an article (recently I have only been doing so to remove fanon and to add information from Pottermore and such valid websites (which I am usually late at doing anywho) rather than my vandalising ways of the past). My annoyance and aggrievance were indeed a good price to pay for having done such wretched things to this website. I ask, thus, for you to please allow me to add information and resource to this wiki using my IP Adress; I promise you that I will not add any content that is disagreeable or in any way incorrect, the way I have done in the past.
Wishing you an excellent evening (and night), and hoping you the best in days to come,
And apologizing for missing your birthday,

Thought you ought to know
If the simple past is policy, why, in the "Defensive Magical Theory" entry, is Dolores Umbridge's opinion presented in the present? Also, where might one find a comprehensive rendering of all appropriate protocols and specifications of this nature? Thanks, Alex Jiskran (talk) 22:52, June 26, 2012 (UTC)
No, I was referring to the passage you rolled back. I shall copy the relevant lines here.
and the fact that Dolores Umbridge approves of the book, it can be assumed that Defensive Magical Theory discourages the use of any defensive magic that could be used aggressively. Hermione Granger strongly disagreed
SKYPOTION0604I've been reading Harry Potter ever since I was in my elementary days. Harry Potter became my life and I am still fascinated by the wonderful world of magic. I hope to help improve the pages of HP wiki with the best of my abilities.
Just an Idea
Hi im a long time fan of the wiki and wanted to say its awesome and wondered if it would be possible to contribute. I noticed on the various character pages there are i guess what i would call issues with the organization and wording in the magical abilities sections. Namely the common name of a branch of magic is given instead of simply stating the characters level of skill in the area. Such as on McGonagall's page as a point of reference. At the top of that section it gives a intro with much of it being whats echoed in other entries located below it. Heading it under Magic Mastery and using the first sentence alone would be fine unless more overview is needed and then making everything else a subheading under it. Secondly there is the term underage magic. The issue is noting that she was capable of underage magic when she was underage which she is long pass. Its relevant to her history (which is stated in her history section), but currently has nothing to do with who she currently is and probably should be stated under a subheading like 'Inherent Magical Aptitude'. Then Transfiguration while its basically stating it on her page as though we are referring to the branch of magic itself. While agree it should link there its not really focusing on her personal skill. I would state it to be "Transfiguration Master". Then theres a heading that says martial magic which is odd causes its not used on most other pages as well theres also defense against the dark arts and dark arts. Neither specifying outright her skill just simply acting as another link to those pages. Noting her skill in the dark arts such as "dark arts expert" and then considering how the defense of the D.A. and offensive magic is both martial simply stating her to a master duelist would be far easier then separate categories saying the same thing over again. The theres no definition of charm skill and patronus charm is separate from charm entirely instead of subheaded under it, making it seem as though they are unrelated branches of magic. Logical thinking and leadership seem to be more abilities then anything magic so should be separated from magic section and wandless and nonverbal are two separate concepts yet they are lumped together. The last point is there is alot of stating within the section of how skilled a character is but then downplaying the skill with however she/he had help from so and so or Voldomort was using the elder wand without full mastery of it. I get that is what occurred but i dont see how it detracts from that characters personal skill and therefore shouldnt be stated as if it does otherwise it defeats the purpose of stating what they are capable of. Thank you for reading my long post here. If possible i would show you what i mean on McGonagall's page in the magical abilities section and if you choose to disagree and are not interested in my input in this regard, well thanks for your time none the less. -Salubri (talk)
If you have a moment, could you take a look at this here? I really think we ought to move on this before the system just switches us over automatically and we get caught off-guard. ProfessorTofty (talk) 19:48, October 2, 2012 (UTC)
User Busyman213 has been creating unnecessary pages that are related to the chapters of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Today is the second time that this user has done this so I need to give you the heads up. -Adv193 (talk) 16:12, October 3, 2012 (UTC)
Hi, Cubs Fan2007! Have you seen the avatar of this banned user? I find it's horrible. Can't it be deleted? That can trigger nightmares in younger individuals. 20:45, October 8, 2012 (UTC)

The talk page of "List of spells" was also moved to "Spells (Shorter)". I'm not sure how to move back so I thought I should tell you.

Happy New Years'
- Hear, hear! I hope 2013 brings you the very best of luck, health and happiness. -- 02:21, January 1, 2013 (UTC)
Really? Oh, wow. Then we've got a major problem, then, because that section has been added to a lot of different articles, including Harry Potter to name just one example, and I can see there that it's causing many of the references to not show up on that one as well. Okay, don't do anything else. I'm going to contact Gcheung28 and see if he knows of a way to solve this without removing that, because this is a serious bug that could be affecting other wikis as well. This is something that was added officially by Wikia, and I don't want it to be removed if we don't have to. ProfessorTofty (talk) 04:19, January 3, 2013 (UTC)
- Never mind, I fixed it. It was just a bit of bad coding within the gallery that was causing the issue. Really small thing that ended up causing a big problem. ProfessorTofty (talk) 04:30, January 3, 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah, though this still may be happening on some other articles, so if you want to try to find and fix them, that could help. I just fixed it up on Harry Potter, but it actually doesn't seem to be happening on Ronald Weasley that I can tell, despite that same coding. Currently searching for others. Linked text bunching together
I see from one of your recent edit summaries that this bothers you as well. Just thought you'd be interested to know that I did some testing in the sandbox, and I'm pretty sure it's a combination of poor editing practices and a bug in the visual editor that causes this, not intentional malice on the part of a vandal. If, in the visual editor, an editor accidentally places the next word of a sentence directly next to a link likethis, it will grab the word next to it as well when that page/section is edited again, and so on until you get a mess like you just fixed on Ron's article. I'd report this bug to Wikia, but, in my experience, that doesn't help all that much. -- 1337star (Drop me a line!) 18:08, January 7, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for the welcome! Besides your message I have just been ripped apart since joining. I've been coming to this site for years and it really hurts that once you start to contribute all you get is ripped on because I haven't been a contributer for 5 yrs like everyone else.
Reverting the cleaning of my userpage
Hi, Cubs Fan! Thank you for reverting on my userpage. I only want to say: Be now careful with your own userpage. He did that blanking on mine after I undid an edit of him on this userpage. I think that should be the revenge.

Hi, I am from the Once Upon a Time upcoming spin-off wikia, Once: Wonderland located at once-wonderland.wikia.com, and as well as the Once Upon a Time wikia located at onceuponatime.wikia.com. and I was wondering if the Harry Potter Wikia might be interested in affiliating. The Once: Wonderland wikia is looking to affiliate with other fantasy oriented wikias, but also wikias in other genres and categories. This is a similar case on the Once Upon a Time wikia as well. Thank you for your consideration, and you may get back to me on the topic by responding on my talk page on this wikia, or writing a message on my wall on either of the Once Upon a Time wikias. Thank you! Applegirl (talk) 19:57, April 2, 2013 (UTC)
Thankyou for your kind words. I believe that I have already implemented significant changes, and will continue to do so. (188.8.131.52 15:04, April 26, 2013 (UTC))
One of Wikia's staff left a message on my talk page regarding displaying an ad for Wikia's My Wikia app service on the homepage. Personally, I have nothing against the idea, but I wanted to run it by the other admins first, just to make sure. ProfessorTofty (talk) 23:32, May 6, 2013 (UTC)
Acronyn vs. acrostic
I believe you're mistaken as to the meanings of both these words. An acronym is defined as "a new word formed from the initials of a phrase"; an acrostic is "a phrase contrived so as to form an already-existing word", which could be a word puzzle but need not be (e.g. the "icthys" password used by early Christians to identify one another). As far as I know the "word puzzle" meaning goes back only to the 19th century, but the general meaning (as shown by the example given) is far older.
However, no authentic case of an acronym older than World War One has ever been confirmed, and the word "acronym" itself goes back only to World War Two; yet another reason to avoid using "acronym" where "acrostic" is more appropriate. -- RobertATfm (talk) 05:27, May 23, 2013 (UTC)
Why did you revert my edit to the Bellatrix Lestrange article. I thought it was a really funny and accurate way of describing her devotion to Voldemort. --Lucifuge Rofacale (talk) 20:22, June 16, 2013 (UTC)
