Image sourcing

Hello! You recently uploaded an image (File:Madam Malkin's.jpg), but you failed to provide a source for where this image comes from. Sourcing an image properly is important to ensure that only official images are used on this site. If you could please take the time to ensure that you indicate the origin of this image, that would be most appreciated. If you are unsure of how to this, feel free to ask me or another active user, and I'm sure someone can assist you. -- 1337star (Drop me a line!) 00:49, December 24, 2012 (UTC)

Well, thank you for providing the source (I had suspected it was from The Making of Harry Potter), but what I actually meant was putting that information on the page for the file itself, not the article. Specifically, under the source field of the Information template. Please do this, and fill out the rest of the template for that matter, on upload next time. You may either use Special:Upload, which preloads the template for you, or edit the file page after upload and add the template manually if you prefer to use the "Add features and media" uploader (for your convenience, it can be found here). But, regardless, thank you; you at least gave me the info needed to add that information myself this go around. -- 1337star (Drop me a line!) 01:44, December 24, 2012 (UTC)

Re: Dumbledore's Army Wiki

I am very interested in talking with him(?), yes. BTW, your signature isn't working on this wiki - you need to create the template here, I think, if you want it to work. ProfessorTofty (talk) 01:32, December 24, 2012 (UTC)

Excellent, thanks. Looking forward to it. ProfessorTofty (talk) 11:59, December 24, 2012 (UTC)
If you're authorised to do it, then go ahead. I think I did get a message from him a while back and had replied, but then I never heard anything else. Did you get the details on that, or do you still need them? ProfessorTofty (talk) 04:10, January 14, 2013 (UTC)
Er, not at the moment, kind of busy right now, but maybe some other time when we're both on. But what I meant was, did you see the message that I had left him? I had outlined some ideas of some things that we could do, but I never heard anything else after that. ProfessorTofty (talk) 04:27, January 14, 2013 (UTC)
Sorry about the delayed response, but I've remembered what the message I had left him was about. It was two things-- first off, I thought it might be a good idea for us to have more prominent links to each other. I don't know if you've seen it, but on our homepage, we have an Affiliates section with graphical links to each of our Affiliates. Do you have a picture that you could add to that, and would you be willing to add something similar for us on your homepage? Secondly, when people post Fanon on here, we leave them a message that reads that their contribution may be more welcome on either the Fanon Wiki or the Dumbledore's Army Wiki. However, it occurred to me that your wiki is more of a roleplay thing rather than a general fanon, so that might not be entirely helpful to you. Would you prefer a more customised message, perhaps, or maybe just removing that? That's just a couple of things to start off, I'm sure we can think up more ideas. ProfessorTofty (talk) 21:03, January 15, 2013 (UTC)
To answer your questions-- yes, please add our graphical link to your affiliates page, if you haven't already. Did you need me to find that, or do you know where to get it? I don't know if we have anything else other than the Harry Potter Wiki logo, but I can check if you need me to. Regarding adding a logo for you, if you want me go ahead and make it, I can, though graphic design has never been exactly my field of expertise. Or you can try your hand at it. As for the message I'm talking about, it's this here, which we post whenever someone adds fanon to a page on the wiki - {{Fanon}} -
Fanon warning: Please stop. If you continue to add fanon to pages, you will be blocked from editing the Harry Potter Wiki. Your contributions may be more welcome at the Harry Potter Fanon Wiki or at the Dumbledore's Army Roleplay Wiki.. As you can see, it suggests to people that their contributions might be better suited for either the fanon wiki or your wiki. Perhaps it would be better if that were just removed entirely, or something along the lines of, "If you are interested in role-playing a fan-made character, then consider the Dumbledore's Army Wiki"? Tossing out a couple of other random ideas-- perhaps we could sponsor partner chats sometime, or contests? I'd even be willing to consider the possibility of having a page about your wiki here-- we do have pages for notable Harry Potter fansites, though I may have to discuss that one with the other admins first. One other thing-- I was looking at your profile on there, and I saw that it says there "Prefect" next to "Rollback." How did you get that on to there? That might be fun to do here. Re: image linking

Unfortunately, I don't know of any way to accomplish what you're asking as far as wikis. It's a cool idea, and I think it can be done using HTML, but I don't know how you'd do that here, and it seems like it would really be of limited use, wiki-wise. ProfessorTofty (talk) 03:28, March 21, 2013 (UTC)

Hogwarts Castle (Book Only)

That particular page was probably deleted because it was found to be unnecessary. And it was for that same reasoning that I again deleted it just now. As a rule, we don't have separate "Book Only" pages for characters or locations. If you are interested in wikis that consider only information from the books to be canon, you might wish to talk with Hunnie Bunn, who runs a wiki based on this principle. ProfessorTofty (talk) 18:21, June 16, 2013 (UTC)

Your personal sandbox is generally yours to do what you want with, so I suppose that's okay. Just remember, though, that per our editing policy, user pages are not your primary contribution to the wiki, so if you plan to keep working on it regularly, it should be done elsewhere. ProfessorTofty (talk) 18:51, June 16, 2013 (UTC)
As a rule, pages that aren't allowed under policy are deleted, and may be done so without prior notice. The information, however, is still viewable to administrators, so if there was something that was on there that you still need, I can go back and get it for you. Re: Hogwarts Wiki

Hmm, so if I understand correctly, the wiki will basically be a fan project, but it'll have a framework based around Hogwarts and such, and when you mention such things, it'll link to here. The basic idea sounds alright to me. I'm not sure how directly we could promote your wiki, but if you made a logo, we could certainly link you on the Associates and everything. ProfessorTofty (talk) 23:44, July 4, 2013 (UTC)

I'm sorry

I'm sorry, I don't know much about role-playing wikis. It's never intrested me, if I find someone who could help you out i'll let you know. Misskatniss1546 (talk) 15:16, March 2, 2015 (UTC)Misskatniss1546
