Snape was on the good side: When Snape revealed the prophecy made by Sybill Trelawney (not knowing, at first, that it was referring to Lily and her family) to Voldemort, Voldemort decided to attack the Potters in an attempt to prevent its fulfilment. Though he asked Voldemort to spare Lily (whom he loved), Snape, still fearing for her safety, went to Dumbledore and begged him to protect the Potters. Dumbledore agreed and ensured that they were placed under the Fidelius Charm. In return, Snape became a triple agent for the Order of the Phoenix against Voldemort, using his powers of Occlumency to hide his betrayal from Voldemort. Even with his efforts to protect her, Snape felt responsible for Lily's death when the Fidelius charm was broken. Despite Harry's strong resemblance to James Potter, the fact that he was Lily's son made Snape protect him throughout the series. Snape demanded of Dumbledore, however, that his love for Lily, his reason for switching sides, be kept a secret. Dumbledore agreed and kept the secret.
In the summer between Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince, Dumbledore is afflicted by a powerful curse cast on the Gaunt ring, one of Voldemort's Horcruxes. Although Snape's knowledge of the Dark Arts enabled him to slow the spread of the curse, the curse would have ultimately killed Dumbledore within a year. Dumbledore, aware that Voldemort had ordered Draco to kill him, asked Snape to kill him instead as a way of sparing the boy's soul and of preventing his otherwise slow, painful death. Although Snape was reluctant, even asking about the impact of such an action on his own soul, Dumbledore implied that this kind of mercy-killing or killing "by request" would not damage a human's soul in the same way murder would. Snape simply agreed to do as the Headmaster requested. -- Seth Cooper(Owl Post) 21:04, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
The information you are adding to Runcorn actually refers to Albert Runcorn, which is a different person.--Matoro183(Talk) 16:10, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
You can place links to different pages on the Wikia by putting brackets around the word that you want example Ginny Weasly after brackets Ginny Weasly you must use [[]]. also for out of the wiki the editing tips at the top when you open the page to edit will show different ways. example [ http://www.example.com link title . Hope that helps. --Profiteor (Owl Me) 17:55, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
To add internal links, place where you want it to link to between two sets of brackets. E.g. to produce Harry Potter, do Harry Potter
If you want the link to say something add a pipe between the link and what you want to appear on the page. E.g. to produce a link to this simply do this -- Seth Cooperowl post! 18:02, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
Here's the page with the various infobox templates. Just choose which color you want (there are examples on each page), copy the text from there and paste it on your user page. Any sections you don't want to show up, just leave them blank (with the 'equal' sign on the right).
That had nothing to do with Prefects. That was about an event that occurred in the Prefects' bathroom, but it wasn't about Prefects, so it doesn't belong in that article.--Matoro183(Talk) 20:17, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
Because that quote had nothing to do with merpeople. It could describe the nature of the 2nd task, it could show Harry Potter's loyalty to his friends, but says nothing of merpeople. -- Seth Cooperowl post! 16:37, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
I'm probably not the best one making a signature I'll show you mine but I'm not very great at explaining on how to make it. I'd suggest talking to Seth Cooper or Matoro183. They have always done a brilliant job with there signatures. --Profiteor (Owl Me) 18:44, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
thanks i will ask Seth now --Bongo2009 18:46, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
So go to yopur preferences page and paste the following codes into the signature field: <font face="Verdana" color="FireBrick">Bongo2009</font> -- Seth Cooperowl post! 21:12, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I almost allways try to corecct people as nice as possible if they suggest something wrong. The source for Snape not being in Gryffindor is JKR´s homepage. There, she states thar Heads of Houses were Sorted in these houses.--Rodolphus 14:34, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
You can see what edits people can make by looking on the left side of the page where it says "Community" and when people make edits it shows it on the box. --Profiteor (Owl Me) 15:42, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
In the book, Dobby tells Harry about the Room after Harry asks him if there's a place their group can practice DADA spells in secret. To sum up the canon policy:
Books & JKR's comments > Movies > Games & Merchandise
"Lower tier" canon is only considered accurate when it does not conflict with a "higher tier". In this case, the official version in the article is that Dobby finds the Room, while the part about Neville in the movie is mentioned in the "Behind the Scenes" section.
Hope this helps. - Nick O'Demus 16:39, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
If you want the Prefect badge, you need to start making more substantial edits than fixing links that work anyway.--Matoro183(Talk) 22:24, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
Fanon is when you deliberately add false information to articles, as you did with Charity Burbage. It is considered vandalism, and doing it again will result in you being banned from the site. Jayden Matthews 19:42, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
That person was asking where it was said that Burbage was in Ravenclaw, because someone else had added it. What House she was in is never discussed in the books. Jayden Matthews 19:48, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
There is no set edit limit for prefect badges. If someone believes that you've earned it, then they will award it to you. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 15:06, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Would you like me to make it for you? It would probably be easier than explaining it. Jayden Matthews 14:52, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
Here you are! To add more images to it you just copy the file name into the gallery. Just let me know if you need anything else :) Jayden Matthews 15:07, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
I'm not quite sure I understand. Can you be more specific? Jayden Matthews 17:41, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
I'm really sorry, but I don't know. You'd be better off asking an Administrator. Sorry :( Jayden Matthews 18:02, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
