Sony Book of Spells Game Book Hybrid

Do you like the Harry Potter games and the |Harry Potter books? Well, you're in luck, because the end of the movies and books doesn't mean that J.K. Rowling is done.

In fact, the Pottermore division has conjured up the Book of Spells, a book-video game hybrid, selling for $39.99. Sounds confusing, huh? Well, it's a book, and a game, which features some original writing from J.K. Rowling, as well as activities where you can use spells from the books in a video game, and the release date is unknown. Other than that, things are pretty unclear (and from what I can tell, it seems like fire doesn't actually come out of the book).

Wizarding World to Open in Osaka Japan

Even with the Harry Potter books and films done, the magic is still spreading--and now it's made its way to Osaka, Japan, which will be the location of the new "Wizarding World of Harry Potter" amusement park.

Glenn Gumpel, the president and CEO of Universal Studios Japan, made the announcement today.

“Universal Studios Japan is thrilled to be chosen to make the Harry Potter experience come alive for the people of Japan,” Gumpel said in a statement. “USJ will recreate to the highest level of authenticity, “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.’”

It shouldn't be surprising that Pottermania is present in Japan--the love of Harry Potter is something that seems to span all cultures and locations. The Potter franchise has been hugely popular in Japan, grossing $893 million at the box office and reaching more than 78 million people.

Harry Potter Park Heading to Hollywood

Universal Studios has confirmed it! Harry Potter Park, an attraction which includes a Hogwarts castle, will be built at the Universal Studios Hollywood theme park. However, we still don't know where or when it will be built.

The jobs that will be created from this project (over 800 jobs just in the construction alone!) will be good for the Los Angeles economy. Currently the park generates $4.4 billion for the local economy.

Warner Bros. chairman Barry Meyer says he hopes the park will help to "translate the brilliant literature of J.K. Rowling" and that a goal of the attraction is to make it as authentic to the books as possible.

Drew Struzan, Harry Potter Poster Artist, Releases Book

The name "Drew Struzan" isn't immediately recognized by everyone, but in the filmmaking world, he is a legend and a celebrity.

You probably wouldn't know Struzan's face, but you would definitely know his work. He designed movie posters for Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, Star Wars and many other hit movies.

Struzan has recently released a book, "Drew Struzan: Oeuvre", in which he displays all his best work, from his E.T. poster to his Walking Dead poster. Each picture is cooler and more unique than the last!

Who knew X Men star Hugh Jackman could be so funny? On the latest episode of Saturday Night Live, Jackman impersonated Daniel Radcliffe playing Harry Potter, in a skit about stars who have both feminine and masculine sides.

The skit was hosted by funny man Andy Samberg, who was impersonating Hugh Jackman himself, sporting the notorious exaggerated sideburns of the X-men character, Wolverine.

In an interview with MTV, Daniel Radcliffe talks about why Harry Potter fans benefit so much from the fact that the movies started out as books, and he compares it to the popular Star Wars and Star Trek franchises. He doesn't, however, argue over which franchise is "better", figuring that it all depends on what you define "better" as. He simply believes that all three sagas benefit from beginning as written word, and have intense character relationships and growth.

J.K. Rowling's Boots Being Auctioned

Recently, a company in Omaha announced they will be auctioning off a pair of boots worn by J.K. Rowling during the time that she penned the Harry Potter series (or at least some of the books-- I can't imagine the boots were magical enough, so to speak, to last through the many Potter years!)

It is likely that the boots will sell for a large amount, especially since a one-sentence letter written by J.D. Salinger to his maid recently sold for $50,000. The boots are being sold by Blue Earth Benefit Auctions in this online auction which will start Friday.

Ten percent of the money paid for the boots will go toward the Omaha Schools Foundation and Susan G. Komen For The Cure. Excited to see how much these boots will go for? Why don't you guess? Comment below and tell us!

This was their official remark:

"The good news is that we no longer expect to pause sending these (as mentioned in our Beta testing and Welcome emails post). Instead, we plan to send emails out daily over the next two weeks. As always, there’s a chance that our plans may alter as we assess the site and how it is reacting to new users but we will update you if anything changes."

Recently, the results of a British poll showed that most people choose Severus Snape as their favorite Harry Potter character, putting Hermione Granger in second place and Albus Dumbledore at third. Annabel Pitcher, at The Guardian, explains why Dumbledore is far better than Snape:

How can you not love a camp grey wizard who eats sherbet lemons and welcomes students back to school with the words, "There is a time for speech-making. This is not it."? Dumbledore's funny. He's unorthodox. He lets a part-giant with a love of monsters take up residence in the school shed, and a werewolf with a penchant for human blood to teach underage wizards. Nonconformist, liberal and flexible, he's everything that Severus "10 points from Gryffindor" Snape is not.

Dumbledore also knows things. Everything, in fact. Twiddling his thumbs in a castle turret, Dumbledore does what every other character in the book fails to do: he works out the secret of the horcruxes. No wonder he's the only person feared by He Who Must Not Be Named. So yeah, Snape double-crossed Voldemort. But who told him to? Who guided him in every single act of cunning? Snape acted bravely – but Dumbledore directed his performance.

Many Harry Potter fans excited for Pottermore have been hoping and wishing for early entry into Pottermore and awaiting the elusive acceptance email that some users have reported getting. If you're wondering if you are one of the early access folks, you must have completed the magical quill challenge on the Pottermore site.

The blog says, in regards to early access:

We’re excited to announce that early access to Pottermore has begun, so if you’re one of the million people who found The Magical Quill and registered for early access, please read the rest of this Insider post carefully.

The most important thing to know is that we need to stagger entry to the ‘Beta’ (early) version of Pottermore so we can properly collect all the feedback. To begin with, we’ll be inviting a very small number of people onto the website, so you may not receive your Welcome email straight away.

We’ll be sending those Welcome emails out over the coming weeks and, once yours arrives, you’ll be able to log in and start helping us develop the Pottermore experience.

Felton also admits he is giddy about delivering the famous line, "Take your stinking paws off me, you damn dirty ape." Director Rupert Wyatt only has enthusiastic praise for Felton, referring to him as a "man who prepares a great deal" and a "gentleman and professional". WB Determined to Push "Deathly Hallows- Part 2" for Best Picture Nomination

It's no secret that Harry Potter fans love Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 , but they're not the only ones. According to Variety.com, WB is seriously pushing for a best film nomination. Variety.com reports:

Studio is pulling out the stops to mount a best-picture campaign for the last installment of the Harry Potter franchise, taking a page from the Lord of the Rings; playbook that New Line successfully employed to land the 2003 best picture Oscar for the trilogy's final installment, 'Return of the King' along with 10 other Oscars.

So let's cross our fingers, Harry Potter fans! If Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 gets this nomination, it could be the first Harry Potter film to win an Oscar, despite nine previous nominations. If only there was a spell we could cast to win the award for sure.
