With Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 being the third highest grossing film of all time, it's no surprise that the film has become the highest grossing film in 2011, within the United States. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 grossed $348 million at the local box office, surpassing Transformers: The Dark Side of the Moon which only grossed $345 million to date.

Warner Bros. president of domestic distribution Dan Fellman says this about the film's success:

"In a crowded and very competitive summer, it is a tribute to both the film and the people behind it that moviegoers are still turning out to enjoy it - whether for the first time or for a repeat viewing."
