Day Three - The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Our last day in Universal Studios Orlando, I don’t want to believe it. This trip has gone by way too fast. It was an amazing experience and I thank the Wikia staff for making this possible! For our last day, we went to Universal Studios; Universal Studios is like the Islands of Adventure. It consisted of several movie themed attractions. It also had plenty of restaurants and stores. The first thing my family did was decide on what we were going to do today, we only had one day in this park and we wanted to make the most of it. The first ride we went on was the Men in Black ride. We went through the ride on cars which seated six in two rows of three. We decided it was boys versus girls for this one. When the ride started we went into a ‘training’ situation. We then ran into a little bit of a problem, ALIENS HAD INVADED MANHATEN!!! So we were immediately plunged into the streets with nothing but a warning not to press the red button. We had the shoot the aliens as they popped up with our laser guns. We accelerated suddenly and we spun around. We had to face the giant alien at the end; we got to press the red button! We then spun underneath the giant alien and into strobe lights and fog. The alien burped and we were free. We were judged by Will Smith’s character on whether or not we were fit to be Men in Black Agents.

After the Men in Black ride, we went to the Terminator 3D show. It was so flipping cool!!! The characters leapt in and out of the screen to interact with the audience. There were smoke and lighting effects. After the T3 show we, went to the Disaster Movie show. In the beginning we all went into a room and the ‘assistant director’ chose people to be cast in the movie they were filming that day on site. My older brother and sister were chosen along side my mother to be in the cast. They were cast as the evil people of the movie. It was hilarious! We went into the next room to make the movie, and then we filed out into a train to film the last part. Everyone went on the train and we were all told to be innocent subway users. Suddenly, the train started shaking and the floors and ceiling started cracking. The street above fell and an oil tanker fell into the subway. The oil tanker exploded and water flooded the subway. Everything went back to normal and we got to see the short trailer we had just made. It was awesome!!!

When we got off that, my older siblings and my mother took my little brother on the Mummy ride. I didn’t go on, so my dad and I explored the little shop. I bought an Ankh necklace, little shops are so reliable. After the Mummy we walked around and went to get hydrated. We went on the M.I.B. ride again; the M.I.B. ride is just so simply fun! After defeating the alien invasion once again, we went on the Jaws ride. I love sharks and this ride was so cool for me! We got attacked by a shark similar to the one in the movie and at the end; our tour guide shot it with a grenade launcher! It was so cool!!! After that, we walked around Universal Studios and we went to get food. Outside the restaurant we went to, the Blues Brother were just getting into their car with the giant speaker on top. As Chicagoans, we appreciated seeing the Blues Brothers. It was like a little piece of home. When we were leaving the park, my older brother found Glenco Imports and was exuberant. He loves the Godfather movies so it was sort of nostalgic for him to be able to take a picture outside the Corleone family business. After that we went back to our hotel and my older sister and little brother went swimming while I wrote the blogs for the past two days! I was so upset we were leaving the next day. I didn’t want to go; this vacation had been the best I have had. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the things we saw, and I loved being able to experience all the marvelous things we were able to experience because of the Wikia Team. So I wholeheartedly thank the whole Wikia Team for making it possible for my family to take this amazing trip down to Florida, it was an experience never to be forgotten. Thank you so much!!!

Day Two - The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

This morning we got geared up for our second day in Universal Studio’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter. This was the morning we would get to have a traditional English breakfast at the Three Broomsticks Restaurant. My family was all equally excited to actually go to the Three Broomsticks and eat what I ate every morning in the Great Hall, on smaller proportions of course. We were all talking about what animals we would choose if we went to Hogwarts; I decided I would have a Pygmy Puff, and my brothers decided they wanted owls. It was my sister who went against the crowd though; she said she wanted the largest owl of them all. I can see it. All the students are sitting down for lunch in the Great Hall when the owls start flying in with everyone’s mail. The kids around my sister are joking around with her because she didn’t receive any mail, yet… Suddenly, all of the other kid's owls scatter and in the distance there is a loud, synchronized thudding. *CAW CAW* A giant, dark form enters the Great Hall as it hushes. “Jeffery!” My sister yells as she welcomes her condor into the Great Hall. The kids around her are humiliated for making fun of her. Jeffery cannot land because of his large wingspan, so he instead swoops down and drops my sister’s mail onto her lap. “Thanks Jeffery!” My sister yells as he swooped back up and out of the Great Hall. I love my family…

Then we went to the Three Broomsticks we all ordered different things, I ordered the pancake breakfast and a Butterbeer. It was delicious! It came with three pancakes, two sausage links, bacon and a croissant. The pancakes were really good!!! Eating in the Three Broomsticks was a dream come true, it was all the meanings of awesome. It was the perfect embodiment of what I thought the Three Broomsticks looked like. I loved the experience so much, it was phenomenal!

After the breakfast, we went around the rest of the park. We went to Poseidon’s Fury and experienced something we can’t figure out. Poseidon’s Fury is an attraction you walk through. It was so flipping cool!!! Unfortunately, we got into the third room and everything went dark. We thought it was something for the attraction, but soon the lights turned on and we were taken out through another exit. We couldn’t figure out if the attraction was over or if something happened. We still don’t know…

When we got out, I got to talk to a talking fountain. He was cocky… And he shot me with a water spout… I got rained on too. After I got wet, we went immediately to the 8^th Voyage of Sinbad… Let me just say, IT WAS AMAZING!!! The stunts were awesome, and the pyrotechnics were amazing!!! The sound was perfectly in sync with the actor’s and the stunts. I really wish I could go see it again, but today was our last day in the Islands of Adventure… I am attaching two pictures of me with the Sinbad cast.

After that, we went through the rest of the Islands of Adventure. My older sister and I rode the carousal in Seuss Landing, and we saw the Marvel superheroes and super heroines ride into Marvel Island on ATV’s. It was so cool!!! I loved seeing my favorite comic book characters in person!!! After the Marvel Island, we went back to Jurassic Park and everyone went on the River Adventure. Their splash as they came out of the drop at the end of the ride was gigantic!!! When everyone was off that ride, we went to Hogsmead for the last time. I’m almost crying as I wrote that last sentence… I don’t want to leave, but tomorrow we go to Universal Studios. I got angry as we walked around Hogsmead; they had Gryffindor and Slytherin Prefect badges, but no Ravenclaw Prefect. I’m a Prefect and my older sister is head-girl. Our mother and father are so proud! We bought our chocolate frogs and I got Rowena Ravenclaw’s card! I had really wanted to get her card! My sister got Salazar Slytherin… My older brother has yet to open his chocolate frog… I hope he gets either Helga Hufflepuff or Godric Gryffindor. We also saw the Hogwarts choir sing at a concert outside Hogwarts. It was so well done; they even sang ‘Can You Dance Like a Hippogriff’.

For dinner, we ate at Jake’s American Bar in our hotel. It was delicious food and our waiter was awesome! He was not afraid to joke around with us like friends and he was very fun. The food was delicious and I enjoyed sneaking tasters from the rest of my family’s plates.

Here’s the cheesy line; today was so much fun, but tomorrow will bring even more fun. The last thing I will feel is my pillow and the last thing I will see is the inside of my eyelids. Cliché I know, but hey, I’m on vacation!!!

Day One - The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

This morning, we woke-up at seven a.m. so we could get on the ferry boat to go to the park early. We were able to get into the park an hour before the general public and we immediately headed towards The Wizarding World of Harry Potter! When we were walking, we were swiveling our heads as fast as we could so that we could see as much as we could. Suddenly, I saw it. HOGWARTS!!! The spirals of the Gryffindor Tower were in clear view! The Ravenclaw Tower with the observatory was there too! Even though I see those towers every day (because I'm a Hogwarts student...), it was so stunning. I began jumping up and down yelling, "Hogwarts Hogwarts Hoggy Warty Hogwarts, Teach Us Something Please!!!" I was so excited I couldn't contain it anymore!!! We started walking even faster than we had been before; we had to get to Hogwarts as soon as possible. When we rounded the corner, we saw the Hogsmead sign; it read, "Hogsmead. Please obey spell limits." I got upset because that meant my wand was to be put away, too much temptation to magic the many muggles into flying through the air. *Swish and Flick* Wingardium Leviosa!

I ran into Hogsmead and swirled in a circle, taking it all in. This was really happening!!! I was living in my dreams!!! I could now complete my Hogwarts uniform by buying my cloak at Dervish and Banges!!! I would soon be a complete Ravenclaw Prefect, and my sister would soon receive her wand from Olivanders!!! She later bought her tie and scarf. She's a Ravenclaw too... Head-Girl in fact... I couldn't admit it to myself that this was actually happening and we were all really here, in Florida at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!!!

We went to Olivanders first, to avoid the large line when the park opened to the Public. We watched a young girl be chosen by her wand, and my sister got her wand. Her wand is made from Reed with a core of Dragon Heartstring. I had received my wand at Christmas. My wand is made from Birch with a core of Unicorn Hair.

After Olivanders, I purchased my Ravenclaw Cloak and it completes my uniform!!! I now was in the perfect outfit and I refused to shed my Hogwarts clothing even though it was terribly hot in the Florida sun. Us Northeners aren't used to the heat in the middle of winter, we did just have a blizzard three weeks ago...

We went to the Hogwarts attraction next, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. We walked through the greenhouses of Herbology, and we entered Hogwarts. Finally we walked the corridors of Hogwarts. The moving portraits were speaking all around us and there were so many witches and wizards of past covering the walls, it was hard to focus on just one. We entered into more corridors and there was the sorting hat! It was moving and speaking to us! We then entered Dumbledore's office and he was up in the loft! He was speaking to us too! We moved on to see more, we walked into the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom. "Mom! Maybe we'll see Lupin or Mad Eye!!!" I said. Past the DADA Classroom was the Gryffindor common room. There was the fireplace, there were the couches, and the bulletin board too! I loved it!

We then went into the ride. The cars were on a magic track (conveyor belt) and we had to get in as it was moving. We then exited the entrance platform into the ride. We were suddenly thrown into pitch black darkness and a projection was strewn across the screen in front of us. The screen was a full half sphere and when the broomstick (car) we were in moved, it felt as though we really were flying around the grounds of Hogwarts with Harry. We moved to another scene and had water shot at us by Aragog. I closed my eyes until I felt heat on my face a few seconds later. I dared to open my eyes and look, THERE WAS A DRAGON SPEWING SMOKE IN OUR FACES WHEN I OPENED MY EYES! It was epic. We then moved on and there were more spiders. Suddenly, the ride stopped. Someone came over the intercom to reassure us and the lights came on. Our car straightened from the slanted position we had stopped in. After about ten minutes of my family singing random songs and quoting random things, we began to move. It was stop and go for a while, but we got to see the whomping willow and the dementors up close.

When we got off, we got all of our things from the locker and we headed straight for the Flight of the Hippogriff. The Flight of the Hippogriff was a very fun ride and I enjoyed it a lot. It was easy and fast, plus there were barely any drops. I hate that feeling on roller coasters when you drop. After that, we went around the rest of the Islands of Adventure. We went into Jurassic Park, my whole family LOVES Jurassic Park. We love dinosaurs… After Jurassic Park, we went to Marvel Island and waited for my father and older brother to join us.

When they arrived, we went back to the Hotel so I could change into better clothes. I was in my Hogwarts uniform so I was baking alive. I did some awesome cloak walking before I took it off. The cloaks are fantastic for walking fast, they billow behind you and when you make *Whoosh* noises, you look pretty cool. After that, we went back to the Wizarding World to show my father and older brother around. We bought our first Butterbeer and pumpkin juice. The pumpkin juice was delicious; it tasted like pumpkin pie in a bottle. The Butterbeer was the real show stopper though. It was amazing, like a party in your mouth. It tasted sort of like root beer and caramel. Odd combo, I know, but it worked. Did you know the cook who made the Butterbeer recipe flew it over to England for J.K. Rowling himself? Know you know.

After we all experienced those yummy treats, I showed my older brother around Hogsmead, which I still have memorized from the little trips here and there during the school term. I told him all the good spots to go when you want to avoid the people who want to take pictures with me. Apparently because I’m a Ravenclaw and go to Hogwarts, people want every photo op they can get. We saw Hermione’s Yule Ball gown in one of the store windows. It was the real dress from the movie!!! And we saw – and heard - a screaming mandrake root in one of the other store windows. In Dervish and Banges, they have Draco Malfoy’s broom from the movies as well. We went into Zonko’s Joke Shop and into Honeydukes. My older brother and sister went on the Dragon Challenge roller coaster next. I didn’t go on because, like I said before, I am not a roller coaster person.

While they went on that, my mother and father took my little brother and me into the Hogs Head Bar. It was attached to the Three Broomsticks Restaurant. I took a picture of my Butterbeer mug and my Pygmy Puff (I named her Sheila…) and sent the pictures to all my friends back home. They were all jealous… When my brother and sister came back from the Dragon challenge we went back to the Hotel because the Park was closing. *Sad Face* We went swimming back at the Hotel, and we had dinner. Dinner turned into desert and here I am right now, typing the blog so all you muggles can enjoy the Wizarding World along with us! Tomorrow will bring more adventures, and we will be going to the Three Broomsticks for breakfast, so tomorrow I will blog about our day again!!!
