I have recently created a new template, {{BookChapter}}, to help the wiki reference articles more efficiently and uniformly. It is to be used when referencing specific chapters within any of the Harry Potter novels or supplementary books such as "Quidditch Through the Ages", and is designed to be used in conjunction with the various shortcut appearance templates currently in use on the image information pages.

To use this citation template, simply put:

  • Replace BOOK with the shortcut template of the book to be referenced (eg: {{PS}}, {{OOTP}}, etc);
  • Replace CHAPTER with the number of the chapter;
  • And replace CHAPTER NAME with the name of the chapter.

So, instead of using this method of referencing:

<ref name="OOTP C4">''[[Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix]]'' - Chapter 4 - ''Number 12, Grimmauld Place''</ref>

Using this method:

<ref name="OOTP C4">{{BookChapter|{{OOTP}}|4|Number 12, Grimmauld Place}}</ref>

—will produce a reference tag that looks like the following:

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - Chapter 4 (Number 12, Grimmauld Place)

Any bugs with the template, or general questions and concerns over its use should be directed to myself, either here or on my talk page. The template can currently be seen in use on the 11 Grimmauld Place article.
