The previously announced big-screen adaptation of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be a trilogy of films.

News of the Harry Potter spin-off which follows magizoologist Newt Scamander comes via a profile of Warner Bros.' CEO in today's The New York Times , six months after the initial announcement of the book-to-film adaptation. 

It was previously announced that the fictional Hogwarts textbook would be turned into a film "franchise," but the number of movies was uncertain til now.
