Hi, you obviously want to know more about me if you're reading this. Well, my name is Matt, and I live in New York. My username, Texthawm, is Matthew mixed up with an "X" in it. I'm a big Harry Potter fan, (at least I like to think so). Let's see, I've read all the books, seen all the movies, blah blah blah. I've been on the Harry Potter Wiki since about, let's see, July 2010. But I've only started editing since November of the same year. Fun fact: I got to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 in theaters three days before its official release by winning a local radio contest. I hope to go to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter someday.
If you're wondering how I take screenshots of the movies, video games, etc., read on.
Movies
To take screenshots of the movies, I simply put the discs into my PC, play them, and use a program called Jing, which can be downloaded here. (Thanks to BachLynn for recommending Jing). A tutorial on how to use Jing starts the first time you use it after downloading. However, if you don't want to download anything, you can simply use the Prnt Scrn key on your keyboard. After pressing Prnt Scrn on the screen you want to screenshot, open Paint (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Paint) click Edit, then Paste. Your screenshot is there! From then, just crop it, and save.
Video Games
For the video games, I take screenshots depending on what system I'm capturing. For anything on Game Boy Color or Game Boy Advance, I use VisualBoyAdvance, a Game Boy emulator which can be downloaded here. You have the emulator, now you need games. For the games I download from this site, you should find what you need. From there, I do what I do with the movies (Jing or Prnt Scrn), crop, remove background, then save. For any video game not on Game Boy, there's not much I can do, so I simply look up walkthroughs of the game on Youtube, and take a screenshot from there, (Jing or Prnt Scrn again).
