[edit] Early Life

Sean James Canavi was born on January 6th, 1960, in Boulder, Colorado. His family, one of the last American Pureblood families, relocated to England when Sean was seven, to escape the declining quality of wizard life in America.

In England, Sean and his family were strangers in a strange place, yet welcomed with open arms by the local wizards, something he later commented to Harry that always seemed odd at the time.

At the age of Eleven, Sean boarded the Hogwarts Express, meeting fellow first-year students James Potter and Sirius Black. The three boys quickly became friends, and Sirius quickly earning the enmity of Severus Snape, whom Sean took a neutral stance on, unwilling to make enemies so quickly.

Sean was sorted into Ravenclaw House.

Sean's first year was relatively uneventful. He learned the basics quite fast, and excelled at classes such as Transfiguration and Charms. He was on even ground with most of his fellow students that year, although he could not, like many, compete with Lily Evans or Severus Snape at Potions, or James Potter and Sirius Black at Defense against the Dark Arts.

In his second and third years, Sean grew closer with the Marauders, eventually becoming the fifth member, and the only non-Gryffindor member of the group. He helped to design the Marauder's Map, though he served more as a design consultant that actually being involved in it's creation. His alias on the map was listed as "Talontoe".

After graduating from school, Sean took the time to hone his skills, before joining the Order of the Phoenix. Sometime before this, he married fellow Ravenclaw Katherine Fiona Knight, whom he usually called "Kat" or "Kitty".

Sean and Katherine's role in the order was primarily reconnaissance and information gathering, both being good at not being seen, and getting in and out of places rather easily. Sean's missions often had him skirt quite close to Death Eater operations, at one point, he was so close, he could have reached out and hexed Voldemort himself, but wisely chose discretion instead, being no match for the Dark Lord.

By the time of the Second Wizarding War, much of the information on Sean's missions has been lost, and he does not care to relate the horrors he saw during them. In 1976, Sean and Katherine had their first child, Peter Canavi, who would be born some four months and twelve days before Percy Weasly.

In 1978, the couple had their second child, Amelia Canavi, who would be born 2 months before Fred and George Weasley. In 1979, the Canavi home was attacked by an unknown Death Eater. Sean was wandless at the time, and having no time to react in any other way, dived for his Franchi SPAS-12 shotgun, then turned to face the Death Eater, who did not know what the weapon was, and jeered, allowing Sean to ready the weapon and fire, shredding the Death Eater's chest to bloody ribbons. Horrified at what he had done, even in self-defense and for the defense of his family, Sean dropped the gun, and resolved to carry his wand on him at all times from that point on.

In October of 1981, the War ended, and Sean was present when Albus Dumbledore, Minerva McGonagall, and Rubeus Hagrid left the baby Harry Potter on the doorstep of 4 Privet Drive. After this event, he returned to family's home to watch over his three children, including the nearly one-year old Andrew, his dear wife Katherine having been killed in the War during a mission.

Sean is a very liberal wizard, taking on nearly none of the traditional ways of thought, particularly for purebloods. There are two reasons for this. The first is because he is not a British wizard, but an American one, and traditionally, American wizards, despite being secretive, were more liberal, due to their country's traditions being formed after the Middle Ages.

The second is because he sees the British wizarding traditions as barbaric at best, brutal at worst, viewing the Pure-Blood supremacy and the enslavement of various creatures without so much as thanks with utter dismay.

He is not afraid to say Voldemort's name, which is also unusually brave. He cites his reason as "Am I going to be afraid of some high-tom-titty that's older than all of us put together, yet has a child-like ecstasy at being a god by breaking the rules? No. Are you?"

Sean is also very gifted with machines, which is unusual for a wizard. He not only knows how to work and operate machines such as telephones and computers, but also has a working knowledge of projectile weapons, keeping an old shotgun and a rifle for hunting. He once used his shotgun against a Death Eater during the first Wizarding War during an attack on his home, to devastating results, as he was wandless at the time. He regretted his decision immediately afterwards, and since then, has always kept his wand on his person at all times.

Sean has a particular talent for Transfiguration and Charms, as well as being a competent user of both Wandless magic and Nonverbal spells. He passed with the required marks for an Auror with little difficulty, showing he has a high intelligence.

[edit] Weaknesses

Sean is quite paranoid, always carrying his wand on his person, but absolutely nowhere near as paranoid as Alastor Moody was. He also has a crippling fear of extreme heights, though he is capable of working around it if need be, though he finds it difficult.

When he was younger, he had a fear of dogs, as they would always attack him for the strangest reasons, but this was later to be revealed that the dogs wanted to play. Sean has long since gotten over the fear.
