Guybrush is Benjamin McKenzie, and he's a bit too lazy to write a full biography here when he's got accounts on so many wikis... See the one on Wikipedia for a good summary. Thanks to Hermione1980 for the user box at right, there; I pinched it from her, as well as the favourites section below, though they've been altered to reflect me rather than her.
I like the Potter books, obviously. I don't think they are the greatest works of children's literature ever written, not by a long shot, but they are full of interesting ideas and when millions of people are so desperate to know what happens next, well... Obviously Rowling knows how to tell a story.
I've never written any fanfic (I got that out of my system in my early fanboy days, with Doctor Who), but I did once write an article about the possibility of wizardly power being passed on by genes, which was basically an excuse to talk about genetics in a fun context (see, I am a science communicator). That was for a print zine which hasn't been published yet, and if it doesn't get published I'll reuse it elsewhere.
Ships: Dudes...I don't do fanfic. But I think it only right that Ron and Hermione have finally sorted it out.
