This island was the location of the Potter family's home in the earliest drafts of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. The family of Hermione Granger originally lived on the mainland, and Hermione's father spotted something that resembled an explosion from the island. He sailed out in a storm and found Lily and James Potter's dead bodies in the ruins of their house. J. K. Rowling dropped the idea, and the Potters were relocated to Godric's Hollow.^[1]
