The United States Senate is the Upper Chamber of the bicameral legislature of the No-Maj federal government of the United States, and, together with the House of Representatives, makes up the United States Congress.[1]
History[]
Henry Shaw Junior ran for re-election to the U.S. Senate in 1926, on a platform that included opposition to speakeasies, pool rooms, and the corruption he believed was responsible for them.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
- In the real world, the 1926 United States Senate elections saw the incumbent Republican senator James W. Wadsworth, Jr lose to the Democrat Robert F. Wagner in New York state.
- The actual 1926 United States Senate elections took place on 2 November 1926. However, the events of the film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them take place in December of the same year, suggesting that the historical timeline of U. S. elections in the Harry Potter universe differs from that of reality. It is unlikely that Shaw would be campaigning for the 1928 election so ahead of time.
