"But I got him, Father! I got him as he went by and he didn't look so pretty with hives all over him, did he, Merope?"
— Morfin Gaunt cackling about the spell he used while his father, Marvolo Gaunt, attacks his daughter for loving a Muggle[src]

This unidentified spell (incantation unknown) was a dark charm that caused painful hives to erupt on the victim's face.[1]

Known uses[]

"Our information—is that Morfin performed a jinx or hex on the said Muggle, causing him to erupt in highly painful hives."
— Bob Ogden to Marvolo Gaunt[src]

Morfin Gaunt used this spell in the 1920s on the Muggle Tom Riddle Snr, for the purposes of anti-Muggle derision and to render him unattractive, as his sister Merope was infatuated by him. Tom Riddle's face was put back to its original state and his memory modified. The Ministry of Magic wished to press charges on Morfin, who broke wizarding law by performing magic in front of a Muggle and openly attacking said Muggle. They sent Bob Ogden, head of the Magical Law Enforcement Squad to inform Morfin that he would be attending a hearing on the fourteenth of September to answer for his crime.[1]
