— Ron Weasley[src]

Twelve Fail-Safe Ways to Charm Witches is a sophomoric manual on dating and flirting with girls. The actual contents of the book are uncertain; however, Ron Weasley remarked that it was "not all about wandwork". Harry Potter speculated that there might be an entire chapter devoted to compliments after overhearing Ron praise Hermione Granger's skill at decorating the Burrow for Harry's seventeenth birthday party. Ron noted that had he had it during his relationship with Lavender Brown, he would have known exactly how to get rid of her and how to get things going with Hermione, though he did not mention her directly by name.

Ron gave a copy of the book to Harry on his seventeenth birthday in 1997. Ron had previously received his own copy from his brothers Fred and George.[1]
