Turkey is a country in southeastern Europe that stretches across the Anatolian peninsula and Thrace in the Balkan region. Its capital city is Ankara and it shares borders with Greece, Bulgaria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, also some countries in the Middle East like Syria, Iraq, and Iran.[1]

In the mid-to-late 1990s, owls from Turkey were kept in quarantine, presumably to avoid the spread of a disease. This fact made Daily Prophet headlines.[2]
