Trout is a species of saltwater and freshwater fish. Rita Skeeter told Betty Braithwaite in an interview that she recalled interviewing Elphias Doge a few years back about Merpeople's rights. She commented that he seemed "completely gaga" as he seemed to think they were sitting on the bottom of Lake Windermere and kept telling her to watch out for trout. Doge later admitted that he had called her an "interfering trout," thus leading to her aspersions on his sanity.
