The cover of How to Tame Tigers.

Tigers are members of the Felidae family, and the largest of the Panthera genus. They are native to much of eastern and southern Asia.

A tiger face was pictured on the cover of How to Tame Tigers, which was sold at Flourish and Blotts in 1992. A tiger was seen in a portrait and sat up in the Great Hall. The tiger mauled when the Fat Lady was missing.

Behind the scenes

  • When Molly Weasley was angry at her children, Harry Potter thought that "for a short, plump, kind-faced woman, it was remarkable how much she looked like a saber-toothed tiger."[1]
  • When Harry and Ron first met Crookshanks, Harry described him as being "either a very big cat or quite a small tiger."[2]
