Thomas Henry Taylor is an illustrator who created the cover for the UK edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.[1] He also writes and illustrates children's books.

Taylor was born in England, but grew up in Wales. He attended Norwich School of Art and Anglia Polytechnic University, graduating in 1995 with an illustration degree. The jacket design Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was his first commissioned work.

His first illustration used for the back cover of Philosopher's Stone generated quite a discussion, with fans debating over the identity of the wizard, leaning towards a younger Albus Dumbledore, Quirinus Quirrell, or Nicolas Flamel.[2] As the question was repeatedly asked, Taylor eventually gave this individual a name, Robertus Tallis.[3]
