The Medieval Assembly of European Wizards was a European wizarding organisation operating across continental Europe. They may have had some relation to the International Warlock Convention of 1289, with which a sub-committee of Sardinian sorcerers was involved in September of that year.[1]

History

By the 1980s, this society was still existing in some form, and had awarded Gilderoy Lockhart a "Bravery Against Fantastic Beasts Award", presumably due to his autobiographical series on Defence Against the Dark Arts.[2]

Professor Cuthbert Binns taught his fifth year History of Magic students about this society in the 1988–1989 school year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and assigned an essay two feet and five inches long.[3]

He again assigned his second year students an essay on this assembly in the 1992–1993 school year. Although Ronald Weasley's essay only measured two feet and two inches, Hermione Granger had written four feet seven inches in writing that was described by her acquaintances as being tiny.[1]
