Warning Template

I've noticed this template on certain pages, such as Boa constrictor at the Zoo where the only reference to Pottermore on the page is the fact that the subject appeared on Pottermore. Seeing as the apparent purpose of the template is to warn of spoilers, if the article doesn't provide any information from Pottermore, then is the template really necessary? I would imagine that's why Thorning tried to remove it from that particular page. ProfessorTofty 05:59, November 1, 2011 (UTC)

As far as that particular page goes, I feel part of the Pottermore experience is the beautiful art adorning the whole experience, so I think it is still appropriate there so as not to "spoil" that art for a first-time viewer. However, I agree this template should be removed when no actual information, not even pictures, from Pottermore is present in the article. I mean, just about every major and supporting character in Philosopher's Stone is mentioned on Pottermore right now, but very few of them have any new info about them. -- 1337star (talk) 06:04, November 1, 2011 (UTC)

Deletion

Quite a while ago, supposedly the template was supposed to have been deleted. There was a discussion about it, and then it was put on hold. I think it's time we make a decision as to whether we keep or delete this, and should it come to a vote, mine goes towards keeping it. --Hunniebunn (talk) 22:08, October 11, 2012 (UTC)

My vote is keep only pages with the most recent Chamber content. Remove from all pages whose Pottermore content originates from before then, but replace with a template whose only purpose is to sort them into the hidden category of articles that have info from Pottermore. I agree with ProfessorTofty. The template was for knowing where are articles we must look after access of Pottermore for all people. That's not necessary anymore. But to know which infos are from Pottermore therefore the hidden category Pottermore fits well. Only question could be if the category shall be hidden so that you must enable "Show hidden categories" in your preferences or if it shall generally be seen for all viewers.  Harry granger   Talk  contribs 22:36, October 12, 2012 (UTC)
Well, actually, the category already exists and the article goes in it when the Pottermore template is added. And yes, it is currently hidden. ProfessorTofty (talk) 00:11, October 13, 2012 (UTC)
I support full deletion, personally. The original purpose of this template (to help admins and other reliable users regulate what was legitimate new content and what was fanon back when access was limited to those first million beta testers) has long since become irrelevant. Though it is neat, keeping it now seems contradictory. If it's the recent nature of the content, then what makes this different from Harry Potter for Kinect or Wonderbook: Book of Spells? If it's the limited access nature of it, what makes this unique from the Daily Prophet Newsletters or the bonus material in the Harry Potter Wizard's Collection? Right now, this sticks out like a sore thumb. -- 1337star (Drop me a line!) 00:32, October 13, 2012 (UTC)
