I didn't know where else to put this, but ... what was Hagrid expecting when aimed the crossbow at the door in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (film)? I mean, he wouldn't possibly think of shooting Cornelius Fudge, Minister for Magic, and he had no reason to shoot Dumbledore. The whole scene is rather odd to me, with the knock at the door followed by him slowly replacing the lid to his kettle, and kicking open the door ... --Hunnie Bunn (talk) 21:21, July 12, 2013 (UTC)

I don't really think there's a possible answer for this, given what we know. Perhaps he was willing to fight to resist capture should it be Aurors coming for him, as he does in Order of the Phoenix. -- 1337star (Drop me a line!) 21:26, July 12, 2013 (UTC)
Oh, I see ... that's a much more likely answer than what I thought: I originally supposed he thought Voldemort was creeping around the grounds and that after attacking a few muggle-borns would attack Hagrid himself. --Hunnie Bunn (talk) 21:36, July 12, 2013 (UTC)
