OWL

Er... I just re-read my copy of Order of the Phoenix, and I realized that they do use this in their OWLs... "His Levitation Charm was certainly much better than Malfoy's had been..." (text was not bolded, I did so to emphasise my point that it was this spell and not Levioso that was used. I actually wondered whether anyone could please help find a way to integrate this fact into the article, because every way I've tried just sounded odd. Thanks :) --Hunniebunn (talk) 23:14, October 2, 2012 (UTC)

Hand movement

Should that really be in the infobox? The films, Pottermore and Wonderbook: Book of Spells all use a different hand movement. -- PerryPeverell 00:03, November 19, 2012 (UTC)

I wondered that earlier. After all, J. K. Rowling, who did the writing, wrote that it was supposed to look like a "J", according to Wonderbook. The films probably only did it the way they did because that was how they (and I, until Pottermore, imagined it). Pottermore did the wand movements the way they felt like it, whatever way they wanted. So I'd have to say no, but I'd like to see what everyone else says first. --Hunniebunn (talk) 00:10, November 19, 2012 (UTC)
Pottermore did it just so you could duel with others. I don't think they actually put much thought it. Some movements seem silly for spells, taking to long to perform. -- PerryPeverell 18:38, November 19, 2012 (UTC)
You cannot possibly expect that JK Rowling did all the writing you see in Book of Spells. She was the one who wrote the Foreword, and the paper theatre cutscenes, and the conundrums, but ordinary stuff like game dialogue was not her doing (do you really think she would fail to mention the "squish and flick movement" if she had written that part). --  Seth Cooper  owl post! 19:49, November 19, 2012 (UTC)
In regards to PerryPeverell, I agree. To Seth, the "swish and flick" part was mentioned in Wonderbook. I quote directly from the game:
"This spell is all in the wrist. Keep your wand hand loose and perform a nice, smooth swish and flick movement."
And even if you don't count Wonderbook motions, the Pottermore ones we use are just drawings made by Pottermore in order for us to trace them whilst lines went through random letters from the incantations.
Either way, I propose that we open up a vote or forum someplace else for this matter, as I'm not sure how much it has to do with the Levitation Charm article individually. --Hunniebunn (talk) 21:03, November 19, 2012 (UTC)
