Both American - seems like no-maj Jacob may have a wizarding grandson ...
From the old Abbott and Costello cartoon . The voice isn't Lou's, he was departed by then, but either Lenny or Squiggy from the old Laverne and Shirley show. Can't remember which. (Vaudree (talk) 20:37, November 7, 2015 (UTC))

In the "Case of beasts" it says that Dan Fogler was born in New York "like Jacob". If I see it right, we have two equal canon sources conflicting. Which one should be used?--Rodolphus (talk) 10:36, February 8, 2017 (UTC)
- Do you mean this line? The Case of Beasts: Explore the Film Wizardry of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, page 24 - "Just like his character, Fogler is a native New Yorker."
- Two of the other film books mention Jacob being from Poland (I'll have to pull up which ones exactly). However, it looks like they were based on information given early in the process, so things might have been changed by the time the movie was released. So we could use a majority rules and go by how many sources confirm the info, or by most recently published, or remove it as a fact and just list it in BTS, (or a proper wizards duel at midnight to the death - Monster Book of Monsters will second for Case of Beasts :)
- Probably helpful to have an admin to weigh in on previous approaches used or any current policies. Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 18:27, February 8, 2017 (UTC)
I think the evidence argues against him being drafted into the army. If he was drafted, he would have been discharged at the end of hostilities. However, the fact that he remained as part of the AEF for a significnat period after the war strongly suggests that he instead enlisted into the army. During the time period when he entered the army by whatever means, the US began advertising military service as a way to improve one's social and economic position. It is likely this would have resonated with Kowalski. It is theoretically possible that he enlisted after his conscripted term was over. However, since he says he didn't like military life, this is less likely. Wva (talk) 19:50, April 25, 2017 (UTC)
