I wasn't sure if I should change it because its been changed and reverted alot, but the description in the book is far better at describing the exact makeup of the hippogriff.

"They had the bodies, hind legs and tails of horses, but the front legs, wings, and heads of what seemed to be giant eagles, with cruel, steel-colored beaks and large, brilliantly, orange eyes. The talons on their front legs were half a foot long and deadly looking."

Just thought I'd see what others have to say —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mr.gn (talkcontribs).

  • I don't know if this wiki is suppose to be "in-universe" like others, such as wookieepedia, are. If so, the last sentence needs to be removed: "buckbeak is the only hippogriff that we have interaction with" (paraphrased). IthinkIwannaLeia 19:41, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

Yes, this wiki is in-universe. See the Harry Potter Wiki Policy, and almost the whole article is out of universe -Matoro183 (Ravenclaw) 19:52, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

  • In that case I changed that sentence a little (after you deleted it) and earsed the whole "Encounters with hippogriff" section, as this was all about Buckbeak, and should be put in the Buckbeak article proper. This section was also not really in-universe either, so it is better left deleted. IthinkIwannaLeia 20:08, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

1792[]

What exactly happened to that one Hippogriff in 1792 that Ron was talking about in one scene where Hermione was reading through a book and he said something like; "look at what they did to him, that's disgusting"? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mmwa (talkcontribs).

We don't know, this hippogriff is never mentioned other than the passage you've brought up. Speculating on the matter would be beyond this wiki's scope. -- 1337star (Drop me a line!) 05:38, November 27, 2013 (UTC)
