Merging[]

User:C.Syde65 reminded me that there are historical suggestions to Merge all the various versions of this game (PC, PS2, GBA, etc) onto this page and try to make a table of all the differences.

I believe this to be a very bad idea as each version of the game is a unique interpretation of the material and differ in art, story, locations, etc... As such, there is just too much information to combine and compare on a single page.

Unless there is a clear consensus established before the end of March in favor of the merge, I will go ahead and remove the merge tags. Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 12:10, March 18, 2018 (UTC)

I agree. The first three games of the EA series differ so much among versions that they can be considered in fact different games with the same story. Plus, merging all CoS games will make it incongruent with PS and PoA. - Esbonl (talk) 04:44, March 20, 2018 (UTC)

Avoidance of the word "Muggle" in the games[]

I started this discussion in Talk:Non-magic people [1] but I decided to add it here as it is about the game. I have never found out why the word "Muggle" is rephrased to "non-magical" in the Chamber of Secrets video games although it is used in the film but I think the most likely reason is a trademark dispute. Although the claim of trademark and copyright infringements was made by Nancy Stouffer, who claimed to have invented the word "Muggle", in 1999 the word "Muggle" is used in the Philosopher's Stone video games released in 2001. The issue could have come to light during the development of the HP2 games considering Scholastic and Warner Bros launched their suit seeking a declaratory judgement that they had not infringed on Stouffer's works and the court ruled in JK Rowling's favour and that Stouffer had perpetuated a fraud on the court. Stouffer appealed the decision in 2004 but the Second Circuit Court of Appeal affirmed the ruling. A127647 20:19, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
