"Short Range" and "Long Range"

I can't recall ever hearing the terms "short-range" or "long-range" half-bloods anywhere else; are they in canon? Furthermore, I thought the standard for being "pureblood" was having all magical grandparents, in which case Harry and Ginny's children would all be pureblood. Or are they half-bloods because one grandparent (Lily) was a Muggle-born witch? 72.39.64.248 18:49, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Cresswell brothers

Where should the Cresswell brothers be placed on the list? Although we know their father was a Muggle-born wizard, we don't know whether their mother was a witch or Muggle, and thus we don't really have the evidence needed to list them under the "Pure- or Half-Blood Parent & Muggle-Born Parent" section. ★ Starstuff ^{(Owl me!)} 19:53, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

quick question

Is it possible for a witch/wizard to be half-blood with 1 magic grandparent (ex. half-blood grandfather, muggle grandmother, squib father, muggle mother) or 1 magic great-grandparent?

Half-bloods and Muggles/Muggle-borns?

Would a child of a half-blood and a Muggle/Muggle-born really be treated as a half-blood themselves? The only half bloods with parents' heritages specifically mentioned in the books seem to have a pure blood parent.

Mcgonagall minerva

Can I add Minerva McGonagall as half-blood? Because pottermore website revealed that her father robert mcgonagall was muggle men who worked for ministry in the muggle world, but professor mcgonagall was in the hogwart as a year of 1997-1998 when muggleborns were not allowed to be in the hogwarts at that time. It suggests that professor mcgonagall is halfblood witch like harry, dumbledore, snape, voldemort. I am for sure that her mom was either half or pureblood who married with muggle men like snape's parents or her mother would have been blood traitor IF mrs mcgonagall was pureblood. 76.95.131.60 07:42, August 4, 2011 (UTC)
