Question - Do we ever find out what happened to this guy? Mafalda Hopkirk 17:14, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Nope; Deathly Hallows never reveals his fate, and JK hasn't divulged it either. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 17:30, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
For me, either he was threatened by the Death Eaters and faked his disappearance, or he really was kidnapped, but i don't see what for, unless he knew some secrets that his relative knew, about Hogwarts. Mafalda Hopkirk 17:57, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
J.K. Rowling revealed on Potter Cast episode 131 that Fortescue was "killed". 70.50.53.49 03:11, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
Did she say why he was killed or who killed him? Mafalda Hopkirk 03:30, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
No. She said that it was a subplot that was ultimately cut, but was linked to the Elder Wand. Jo said that it would be revealed in the Encyclopedia she plans to write. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 14:48, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

Based on the December 2014 information provided about Florean Fortescue on Pottermore, I'm inclined to believe that his last name was influenced by John Fortescue, who wrote for the instruction of Prince Edward of Lancaster, Prince of Wales, in the time of the War of the Roses (15th century). Prince Edward died in battle at the age of 17. "...most serene Prince... wherefore as you divert & employ yourself so much in feats of arms, so I could wish to see you zealously affected towards the study of the laws; because, as wars are decided by the sword, so the determination of justice is decided by the laws..." We know now, through Rowling's new writings found on Pottermore, that Florean Fortescue was intended to be the one to instruct Harry about various points of wizarding history (i.e.: the elder wand & the Ravenclaw diadem). Rowling calls him "historically minded."Niffler Auror (talk) 21:00, December 14, 2014 (UTC)

Where does it say he was sorted into Ravenclaw? Ninclow 07:01, August 30, 2015 (UTC)

I read in Pottermore, but I can only find that he should something know about the diadem of Ravenclaw but not, that he was in Ravenclaw!  Harry granger   Talk   contribs 21:46, September 22, 2015 (UTC)
